OK, not us, but we attended an "I'm Debt Free" party this weekend to celebrate with the Grahams, who have, indeed, crossed out the giant Step 2 of Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover plan.

What a fabulous party and what a fabulous reason to celebrate!! We're making progress... done with credit cards, nearly out of credit card debt, only use cash, etc. Hard work but so worth it! We're on vacation right now and it feels so good to know it is paid for in CASH! I wish I'd been exposed to Dave Ramsey's program when we were first married 13 years ago. We'd be in a much different place now! Hopefully if we learn it now, though, our kids will have a different experience than we did.
Wednesday, May 2, 2007 - not a ramsay fan, but

I'm not really a fan of ramsay (his voice irritates me) but his concepts are great (taken from the earlier Larry Burkett). By debt-free does that mean no mortgage as well?
The only credit card we have we use for paying bills THAT month and have for years. However, I am extremely glad to see any Christians get out of debt. The Bible says we are to owe no man anything but Love. It seems pretty clear. It's mainly a matter of balancing budgets, etc. and not, not going for instant gratification...this is called High Class thinking as opposed to low class thinking that most of America has fallen for.

P.S. Since you got me onto Charles Martin, I thought I'd tell you I'm starting Crickets today. Don't bother with Wrapped in Rain, though. Took me forever to get through. Some of the dialogue was ridiculous- no one would talk like that. Here is an example of the main character sharing a memory with a girl, "I kissed her prickly, quivering lips..." Ugh.
I did LOVE the Zion Chronicles, though. Or maybe it was the Zion Covenant. Whichever series takes place first (but maybe was written second?) So tell me if you make it through the second book.
