Encouragement Along the Way

I get discouraged every now and then, especially when I read the newspapers.  But I've found a simple cure for my politically-induced blues.  I sign up on Democrat fund-raising sites.  Here's a recent fund-raising piece that shows why this is so refreshing:

The powerful, radical, conservative Christian movement is making
inroads everywhere. The fundamentalist motivation is based upon a
rabid conviction that true "Christianity," informed by a literal
interpretation of the Bible, must govern every aspect of public
and private life. We have no choice but to fight back.

It's nice to know we're "making inroads everywhere."

I'm not so thrilled about the "fighting back" bit.  I really do believe in a "literal interpretation of the Bible," though, at least as it applies to myu private life, so I plan to respond by loving my enemies and turning the other cheek.
