(Don't you love the silly tattoos dd wanted on her face? Who invented those things?!)
When a farm girl (Grandma ) tells you that ducks are dirty, you probably ought to believe her!
We've been thinking about a little area for ducks, and dh brought 3 home from the feed store. I'm glad he did it, and not me. Now he's motivated to get an area ready. The little chicks are cute, but Grandma was correct, and it takes no time for them to make their current habitat a total mess!
An interesting lesson, as we found that when you give ducks water, they not only drink, but also bathe and attempt to swim. Baby chickens don't jump in the water, baby turkeys don't jump in the water, but baby ducks go for broke! It's a great opportunity to talk to the dc about the instincts God places within particular animals. Likewise, he places certain needs and desires in us. A particular one, fellowship, and most importantly, fellowship with Him! Many people try to fill that need in their own way, but we have His word to direct us when it comes to how we must approach Him.
We will be checking at the feed store today for some turkey chicks, the ones dh had intended to get last time. Perhaps another duckling if they have some of the colorful ones...these are all going to be white. The other great enjoyment the kids have lately is the 3 week old puppy, Princess.

Isn't she adorable? Half husky, half we don't know what. She seems to have the thick husky type fur, but her nose...not even close. She's very sweet and gentle so far. The last puppy we raised had a very fiery personality from the git.
That's life on the "Ranch" these days, learning about new animals, lots of observations! Trying to accomplish outdoor stuff in between windy and dusty days, and looking forward to some garden and pool time Saturday after an early baseball game.

I do agree that ducks are dirty, but we love them anyway.
