Baseball!  Yep.  10yo ds is bitten.  Soccer registrations are advertised in the twice weekly local paper, and he is willing to forego soccer if he can be sure to play baseball next year!  Five of the eight have expressed a desire to play soccer this year, so aside from the toddlers and the teen, we're going to be scraping a bit through the end of June for fees and the rest of the summer for cleats; after all, Mom's still going to have to get next year's curriculum.

But baseball.  Saturday's game was the last of the *regular* season, and boy, did the boy shine!  He hit a triple and a single!  Not the kind of triple where it would have been a single but the ball was overthrown a couple of times.  A real long hard hit just inside the first base line wayyyyyyy out into the outfield.  Yes!  And boy was he jazzed.  So was his Daddy.  So was I.  So were the other dc, at least those old enough to pay more attention to the game than to the snack stand. 

The team finished with a .500 record.  Playoffs start tonight, our team is 5th in standings, and will be playing the 4th place team.  It's double eliminations, and I believe the next game is later in the week.  We'll see how it goes.  But regardless, we have watched our boy learn a sport that he hadn't played before, and watched him improve dramatically.  It's been fun, and he's had a blast!
