It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...
LOOK CAREFULLY....

How's that for ingenuity? The taller live trees were 90 dollars, the medium sized ones about 50. We wandered the lot a bit...sometimes there are interesting items in other places. We found taller mondale pines marked at 29 something. They were a little scraggly for a Christmas tree. Well, maybe Charlie Brown would approve. But our interest was also in the fact that we're wanting more trees on the property. DH looked, but they were so crowded together, that we needed to separate them a bit to see. Then, the idea came. Two together were taller and fuller than the 90 dollar trees up front, so why not get a couple, and they would be perfect later on for the place we need more trees! Excellent.
Our arrival home incited all manner of curiosity, as the kiddos asked why we had two trees. Dad went about his business, readying a bin to hold the two trees and collect water, while Mom relieved babysitters and served lunch. Everyone was pleased with the resulting tree/s!
Mom retrieved ornaments and examined lights, which dh and 11 yo ds strung. Meanwhile, the kinesthetic one rearranged Mom's pile of ornaments.
Notice the neat pile of wreaths, the neat pile of sleds, and other items sorted according to kind?
Glass ornaments have a short life in our home...too many curious hands. We found a lovely assortment of shatterproof (plastic) ornaments at CVS, highly recommended to those who have a houseful of toddlers!
The result?

Of course, it's been rearranged a zillion times since, and many of the candy canes have disappeared! LOL! Wonder why?

The older girls organized and hung the stockings, and we enjoyed for a bit before heading to the big anniversary party at the feed store.
DS was hopeful that he would win one of the 17 horses being given away. He only had one ticket in. And it got picked...for another prize...the next prize drawn after his was...a horse, of course! He was disappointed, but considering that DH and I probably had a dozen tickets in the drawing, it was pretty neat that he won something...that something is now wrapped and waiting for Christmas, a gift for Dad! Pretty sweet! It was cold, but it was fun sitting on the bales of hay, watching as various people won horses, picking their choice of those remaining. Even the oldest, who doesn't much care for livestock, said she had fun!
That's it for now from the ranch, as we feel more of that holiday spirit moving, dream of gifts to give, and consider which day will be best for gingerbread house creations! It's a chilly 25 degrees this morning, with enough frost to make a mock snowball, and the snow on the surrounding mountains is pretty, though not as low as it was a couple of days ago.
Blessings!
