3 is the number of God.
6 is the number of man.
8 is the number of new beginnings.
As for today, this is the eve of a Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah. In Talmudic times, Rosh Hashanah became a celebration of the anniversary of the world's creation and a day of self-examination, repentance and judgment.
