From TOS: Freebie Friday

It's Freebie Friday from TOS:

Summer is the perfect time for casual parties and gatherings. You can have a fun, yet frugal party and, if you gather outside, you don't even have to clean the house! Just check out our May Digest article "A Frugal Memorial Day Get-Together" for some great ideas and wonderful recipes.

A friend of ours (the one with the chickies and pigs) hosts an annual Solstice Party. Friends show up in the early afternoon and stay as long as they like. The hosts provide hamburgers and hot dogs, and guests bring a dish to share. There's always tons to eat and lots of fun. My friends don't spend a ton of money on this gathering, but it's one we all look forward to all year. I've hosted similar gatherings where I will provide a large tub of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, and guests bring toppings or root beer, and we all enjoy sundaes or root beer floats. Simple, cheap, and fun. So what's stopping you? Get partying!

But before you do . . . we need your help! If you've purchased one of our Digests, we'd love your feedback. Please take a moment to let us know what you thought by taking this short survey.

Homeschool Freebies by Jamin

If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, then maybe the way to your child's mind is through his taste buds? My kids LOVE to learn about history through food! Cooking is not my favorite pastime, but I have learned that preparing different meals with my kids helps them connect with time periods, places, and people in a way nothing else does.

Eating is very personal. So when we experience the foods other people ate, we feel that we know those people in a more intimate way than we did before. Here are some great websites with free information and recipes to help you cook through history with your kids!

Here is a great collection of historic recipes. This is a great place to start because it has links to recipes from different places and time periods.
