Weaving
Today's craft is weaving. You can make a small rug like these:

This rug can be used as
- wall hanging
- coaster
- Barbie platforms
- stuffed animal blankets
- doll house rug
- car platforms
Make some of these for your friends and family for Christmas gifts.
Things you need for this craft:
- yarn
- cardboard
- scissors
- chopstick or fingers
- tape

Get a piece of cardboard about 30 cm x 25 cm. Make 16 cuts along the top and bottom. Each cut is one cm long. Now you string the cardboard. Take the end of a long piece of yarn and tape it to the back of the cardboard. Then pull the yarn to the other side by putting it through the first cut. Pull the yarn straight down the cardboard and through the first cut on the bottom. Pull the yarn through the next cut and then up to the top. Repeat this until every cut has a string in it. Then tape the end of the yarn to the back of the cardboard. This string on the cardboard is your WARP.

Wrap tape around the end of the piece of yarn. It will make it easier to weave. This yarn is your WEFT. Tie the other end of the yarn to the string on the cardboard. Tie it either on the far left or far right string about 6 cm from the top of the cardboard.

To weave, you put the yarn under, over, under, over, until that row is finished. Then loop your yarn over the last warp string and repeat in the other direction. When you come to the end of your warp string, get another piece of another color or the same, and tie it onto the old warp string. Don't worry about the knot. It won't show up that much.

The last part is tricky. When you are done, unhook all the warp strings from the cardboard. Tie knots in each warp loop to make fringe. You can cut the loop (after you tie it) and pull apart the strings for decoration. Be sure to tie the weft string into one of your knots.
You can use your cardboard again. Just restring the WARP. And you don't have to make it the exact size we made ours. You can make a long and skinny one, a fat and short one, any kind you want.
