New Every Morning

Jun. 2, 2006
One down, three to go....

I got a letter in the mail today from the diploma program that D.J. is enrolled in.  It says that all of my paperwork is complete and that D.J.  has fulfilled all the requirements for graduation.  In one sense, I am a bit relieved and excited; we made it through - and without any major injuries - LOL.  On the other hand, it made me sad.  He is done.  We have had some rough spots, but I have truly enjoyed homeschooling him.  After 11 years of being responsible for his education, I have to turn him over to someone else.  I know it is all part of life, but who says I have to like it!  We have read hundreds of books together, sat through many math lessons (I am sure that I know more algebra now than I did in high school) and argued about everything imaginable.  I might even miss that!  Yesterday I was typing up Brittany's and Aaron's objectives for next school year.  It just felt strange not including him.  I guess there will be an adjustment for all of us.  I am sure he will handle it fine.  Me on the other hand.......   His graduation ceremony is on June 22.  I hope I can keep it together and not embarrass myself (or him).

Jun. 6, 2006 - Embarass yourself?!!

Oh pish! Nothing wrong with tearing up at the graduation. Now if you get hysterical, sob without end and beg DJ to stay home with you while hanging onto his pants - *then* you can be embarassed!! :-D

I really do know exactly how you feel. It sounds so familiar! The adjustment once he leaves will take time. You'll be up and down. IM if you want to talk - I'll be glad to listen!

I am so glad that DJ will be at Geneva too. How funny that the boys ended up there together *and* in the same major after all these years apart! God is good. I am sure that DJ will be glad that he chose Geneva. I think he'll be much more at home there and will be challenged at the same time.

And maybe we can arrange to visit the boys at the same time, maybe Homecoming or Parents' Weekend? That'll be especially nice if we move south. (Tennessee)

I thought I had told you about my blog. I'm sorry. I really meant to! My brain is not very reliable anymore. I noticed that you had not written on yours in a while and thought that you just weren't around here much. Glad to "see" you at my site and I'll be keeping up on you here!

Congratulations to your ds. My dd graduated this year too, but had no ceremony because *here* it costs over $200 to sign up and participate in our association one.

We need to take her out to dinner for it, but have been a little preoccupied!

(I hope this is the Stacy I'm thinking it is!!!!!)

Blessings~

I understand the conflicting emotions, having graduated our older daughter in 2005. But remember that as your son steps into the future, he is being held in the Father's very capable hands.

You've done a wonderful thing, my friend, and he will take with him irreplaceable and precious memories.

Love,
momster
