Back to School

Life here has been a flurry of activity in getting ready for the new school year. We have cleaned, and decluttered almost every room in the house! The only ones I skipped are because I did them earlier this year. It helps me to focus better and be able to concentrate on just school when the house is uncluttered and easy to clean.  I did manage to tackle my filing cabinet and it was not nearly as scary as my imagination had me convinced it would be.  Lesson plans and schedule are complete! A first for me! Now the real question is how well will I stick to it. Will this be like a recipe I can never manage to follow?

We got our test scores back from Seton  and I was pleased. Everything was as expected, although Math scores were higher than anticipated.  We really struggled with Math this year. We have switched curriculum this year so I hope that helps.

I was reading my newsletter from Lori at TEACH magazine. She had an article where she was talking about how they start school in Oct, to enjoy the late summer weather. I thought how nice that would be. Our summers here are so short.Instead of starting school later our solution is to do school outdoors. We love nothing more than sitting on the porch reading, or having spelling lessons.... This is always a wonderful treat for us.  I also treasure those nice warm mornings when the kids are still asleep and I can sneak onto the porch and have my morning quiet time. How peaceful and refreshing to feel the warm breeze and hear the birds chirping. Some mornings lately it is getting cooler, but that is easily solved with a warm fuzzy blanket.  Can you see me now, curled up on my patio couch with a blanket, Bible, notebook, pen and Ipod ( for worship of course). What a lovely treat. I often imagine heaven as a comfy porch in the sunshire with flowers blooming and birds chirping, and a soft warm breeze.

May you be blessed as you start this new school year.

I did talk with DFS about keeping Alyvia home, since the state law is age 7 when they have to be in school. The lady I talked to said she would talk with her supervisor, so pray please.
