Just recently I got to go on a mission’s trip to Orofino, Idaho. I had so much fun in Orofino with my friends. This mission’s trip really changed my life. We left on March 29.
The first day we went to the church. We got all of our stuff packed. Then we left. We spent most of the day on the bus. We got to talk with a lot of our friends while we were on the bus. We had some fest stops on the way to Orofino. We finally got to Orofino Community Church. We unpacked and talked with some people. All of the girls got to go and stay at people’s houses. All of the guys got to stay at the church. Later that day all of the girls went with their home-stay families. After all of that was done everybody got to go to bad.
The second day we all got ready for church and breakfast. We stayed for service and fuel. After church and fuel we all had a potluck with everyone. For most of the day we all got to know some Orofino kids and just got to hang out with them. Later we had dinner. Then all of the girls went with their families and the guys stayed at the church. Then we all went to bed.
The third day we got up in the morning and went to breakfast. After breakfast was over we all prayed got split up into different work project teams. I got to break down a deck that day. I had a lot of fun doing it. After we were all done for the day on our work projects, we all went back to the church for lunch. After lunch we all headed up to the Teen Center. We got to also go on a tour to see were a lot of teens hung out around town. When we were all at the Teen Center we got to play with a lot of high school kids and some younger kids. Later that day we served dinner at the Teen Center and did games and shared some of our testimonies. After we were done doing all of that we stayed at the Teen Center for a while longer and then we all headed back the church. The girls got picked up and we all went to bed.
The fourth day we got up and had breakfast and went back to work some more on our work projects. We went to the church for lunch again and went to the Teen Center. When it was 4:00 p.m. some of us went into town to go and invite High-Schoolers to come and hang out with us up at the Teen Center. Then we had dinner at 6:00 p.m. and did some games at the gym and had some more people share their testimonies. The rest of the night was the same as the other nights.
The fifth day we went up to Weippe and did some oil changes and gave milk and bread to poor people. We also cleaned up an old teen center that they had their. Later when we got back we went to the Teen Center and hung out. Then we had dinner and went to the park and played games their. After the games we got to hear some testimonies. I was one of the people that shared that night. Then we all headed back to the church and went to bed.
The next day we all did breakfast and went to go finish up all of our work projects. That day went just like the other day. But the only different thing was that when people were sharing their testimonies they were really powerful. It really got to people.
On Friday we got to relax and hang out at the Teen Center and just do what we wanted. Later that day was the first day we were going to do a retreat with some of the High Schoolers. When the retreat started we all did a Bible study. After that was done we all went to the church and all of us stayed there. Then we got to just talk a lot and hang out.
The next day we finished up our Bible study and talked about what we all learned throughout the week. We all had some really good things that we learned. Later we all cleaned up and got most of our stuff packed, so we could leave the next day.
On Sunday we all went to service and then we said bye to everyone and left. We were all really tired. On the bus we all got to talk about what happened and just shared our favorite parts about the trip. We had some rest stops. Then when it was around 9:00 p.m. we got the church and unloaded all of our stuff. Then we all prayed and left to go home with all of our parents. That is what we did on our trip. Here are some tings that I liked about the trip and that I learned.
Some things that I learned from going to Orofino was just to not be scared to Share God's gift with others. He gave us a gift and he doesn't want us to be selfish and keep it to our selves. He wants us to share it with others so that they too have the gift that they can share. And also just to not be afraid to go out and meet new people. I had always seen people at our church like in Sunday school and in youth group that were new. I always told myself that I should go and say hi, but I never did because I always had the fear of rejection by that person. But when we were on our trip I went and met new people and they didn't reject me. I ended up building good relationships with them. They turned out to be really good friends. And think how the new people would feel if someone came and said hi to them instead of doing other things. Think how many more people would come because they would feel excepted. And you might like the person and become really good friends with them. I also learned that God is always working in your life. He helped me when I was really scared. Right before I did my testimony I was scared, so before I went up in front of people I prayed and God took all of my fear away. I wasn't nervous at all. I was really calm and I had people tell me that they were amazed at how I was when I got up there. They told me that it looked like I had done it a hundred times before. That was a cool thing that God did in my life.
