Rafting Camp was awesome this year! We left on July the 2nd at 7:00 a.m. We all loaded the bus, and left for camp. The bus ride was about 10 hours long. It was a long bus ride, but fun because you had your friends on the bus with you. We got to camp around 7:00 p.m. When we got there we got all of our tents set up, and stuff unpacked. Then we all gathered for dinner. Then we all talked, and hung out for a while. Then our leader Rob said that it was time for bed.
The second day we all got up at 8:15 a.m. for breakfast. After breakfast, we all had quiet time for about half and hour. Then after quiet time we all got into small groups. I thought me small group was pretty funny. Then we all got sun screen on and got ready for rafting. We all rode the bus to the spot that we were starting at. All of the guys unloaded the rafts onto the beach. All of the girls got to help with life jackets, and straps for the rafts. After we had all of the rafting stuff ready we all went to go eat lunch. When the girls were done eating lunch we all went to go and cool rafts, while the guys pumped up the rafts. While we were all doing that the leaders went to go and check out all of the rapids that we would be doing. When they got back we all got our life jackets on, and got numbered off. Then we all went to our rafts, cats, and paddle boat. Then we all took off. We rafted for a long time the first day. Some of the rapids that we went on were really big. We rafted all the way to camp. Then we left all of the stuff up for the rest of the day. Then we had free time, and dinner time. After dinner we had a little bit of free time, and then went into Bible study. We were reading the last three books of Luke. They were really good chapters. After Bible study we all hung out until bed time.
The third day we all got up at 8:15 a.m. again. The morning was the same as the last day. When breakfast was done we all did quiet time, and small groups. Then we all got ready for rafting again. We started rafting at camp, and went to the spot that we normally would start to raft at. We stopped to have lunch, and then went rafting again. Then when we were done rafting for that day we all put the stuff away. Some people went back to camp early so they could start making dinner. The rest of us stayed to help put all of the rafts, and stuff away. Then we all headed back to camp, and had dinner. Then we did our Bible study, and hung out till bed time.
The fourth day we all got to sleep in till about 9:15 a.m. It was our day off to just relax, and hang at camp. We had breakfast at 9:30. After breakfast we all had quiet time, and small groups. Then some of us got to go and float some rapids, climb a big hill, and just stay at camp. I stayed at camp. It was a nice day to relax. Later around 4:30 p.m. we all played a game. We all had to get in teams, and try to win a whole lot of games. I didn’t play all of the games because I started to not feel good. My team got 3rd place. Then when we all had dinner, the team that got 1st place got to go fist, and then 2nd, and then 3rd, and so on. =) Then we did our Bible study around 8:00 p.m. After that it was the same as the other nights.
The fifth day we had to get up at 8:15 a.m. again. We had rafting that day, so the morning was the same as the other rafting days. When we were rafting I was in a raft with our leaders’ dad Bill. A lot of people said that he was really good, but I think that he was really scary. I thought our raft was going to sink, but I didn’t. When we were done he said that we did a really good job riding the nose. Then the rest of the evening was the same.
The sixth day we got up at 8:15 a.m. again. The morning was the same as the last day. This time when we went rating we all got to choose what raft we wanted to go on. I decided to go on someone else’s raft because I didn’t want to get scared again. So I went on a raft with Aaron Jackson. He was pretty funny! I ended up getting scared again! It was funny! When we were in the middle of a big rapid, a wave knocked us over to the side, and it made the raft start tipping to the right side. I was under water, and I could feel it tipping. When It was all over we had a ton of water in our raft. Thank goodness we did not flip! While we were bailing all of the water out of our raft our leader told us that in the middle of the rapid he fell out! I freaked when he told us that! He said that he fell into the water, went under the raft, and came up the other side of the raft. He was able to get back on before another wave came. He told us that was the first time he had ever fallen out of a raft. It was pretty scary. When rafting was all done for the day we all put the stuff away. I got to go back early because I was helping with dinner. That was the last day of rafting for us, so the rest of the people had to stay there extra long. Then the rest of the evening was the same.
The seventh day we all had to get up at 6:00 a.m. We all had to have our stuff packed, and our tents taken down. We got to have a competition with the guys to see who would get done first. It was a tie. Then we all helped get everything packed, and had breakfast. Then we did our beach sweep. After we got all of the garbage off of the beach we got to start the trip home. We left at 9:02 a.m. We were planning on leaving at 10:00 a.m. but we got done earlier than we had planned. We had lunch in the bus. Later we stopped for dinner. Then we finally got to the Church. We helped unload everything and got to go home with all of our parents. It was a long trip, but it was worth it. Something cool that I got to see was, on out trip I got to witness 2 people coming back to Christ, and My sis told me that while they were at training camp a boy named Forest accepted Christ into his life. It was amazing what God did in the lives of all of the people there! That was the trip. It was the best one I have had!
