Assignment # 16: Legends and Tall Tales
Assignment #16: Legends and Tall Tales
Every state has its own wonderful and exciting stories about its past heritage, culture, people, and history. Some of the most interesting stories are those that are not quite real. A legend, for instance, is a story characterized by the exaggerating retelling of an actual event. A tall tale may be a total fantasy with a few real elements such as the setting. Many of these tales were told over and over again as they were passed down from generation to generation. Examples: the story of Davy Crockett, whose exciting frontier and pioneering life is part fact and part legend. Paul Bunyan is a tall tale of a mighty logger in the South Dakota forests. Yet another tall tale is that of Pecos Bill, whose wacky and wild adventures with Texas cattle and tornadoes are fascinating as well as humorous. So as you can see, your state probably has it own legends too or even tall tales, maybe some of them are hilarious or just plain boring. Anyway, they all are interesting and fun to read about!! So your assignment is to find out about your state's legends and tall tales. I can't wait to hear about them!!
● Read some legends and tall tales about your state:
● Share and some tall tales and legends set in your state:
● How do you think they got started?
● Are there any elements of truth?
● About how old do you think this legend or tall tale is?

Hello Jocelyn and Elizabeth-
Thank you for your notification. I was glad to get one. I have not been very faithful in getting my Assignments done. I usually forget about them, and then after a month realize I didn't do them, and post five differen't posts! I will try to get mine done though... :)
But notification is a good way to remind people. :)
I'm glad you've joined the team, Elizabeth!
Have a wonderful and blessed day...:) Many blessings to you both!
Love,
Rachel
