Living and Learning

• Jun. 14, 2007 - New Kid on the Block

I am happy and at the same time a bit apprehensive about finally beginning my journey on this blog.  What worries me most is the limited amount of time that I have to actually devote myself to its upkeep.  I must say though, what finally moved me to take this first step was the tremendous amount of help I have received from your stories and experiences.  I also want to begin recording the progress that my little ones make as they embark on the adventure of academic education.  I hope this can be a journal of sorts for I find that when I put my thoughts into words the disarray of my day seems to organize itself somehow and my labor of love is once again put into proper perspective.  It’s good to remind ourselves now and again what motivated us to make the decisions we’ve made.  For one, from the moment we found out we were pregnant with our first son, I decided I would stay home to care and nurture him myself.  This was a very difficult transition for me for I really enjoyed my career and had, up to that moment, made many plans for my future, none of which included a child.  I fell so deeply in love with my baby from the moment I found out I was carrying him that my priorities were drastically and permanently rearranged.  When he was born my world went from revolving around me to revolving around him.  His diaper was always dry and every little spit up warranted a change of clothes but me….I was lucky if I even got out of my pj’s at all! :o)  Lots has changed.  Now I know it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep little boys clean!!  Haha!  Sometimes I grow weary and think, “Can I REALLY do this?”, but in the end, when I have a quiet moment with my thoughts, I am able zoom out from the trivial day to day mishaps and take in the big picture once again.  Reading of other families who share our same views and hearing of how they persevere despite their struggles is also a great encouragement.  Well, it’s late and tomorrow is going to be busy day with two doc appointments and lots of  preparations to make for our out of town trip this weekend.

Good Night!
