Budziszewski on Gender Roles
Posted in Homeschooling
I am a fan of J.
Budziszewski (I love copy-and-paste). It's pronounced BOO-jee-CHEF-ski. He's probably the foremost expert on responding to the post-Christian mindset. He's the author of
How to Stay Christian in College
. It seems I'm constantly impressed with his reasoning abilities.
He writes often about the classes he teaches as "post-Everything university" and frequents a curious little eatery just off-campus called "the Edge of Night." And he's a missionary. Just because he's paid to teach doesn't mean he's not fulfilling the Great Commission. He's fulfilling a critical need helping students actually make sense of their world and doing so from a Judeo-Christian worldview. It's an oasis of truth, something that's hard to find out there.
It's kind of funny, but I've always wondered if the deconstructionists were actually right, why would we yearn for things to make sense? We
crave order. If we do, shouldn't we be able to discern order? Why would we have the desire for something that doesn't exist? Eh, anyway...
He came out with another winner recently. It's a two-parter and we're waiting on the second half, but it's still a good read, especially if you like philosophy and reasoning. It's part of his regular column, called
Office Hours.
So did you say College Station on purpose or accident? UT is actually in Austin. I ask only because I went to Texas A&M in CS...I got into enough trouble and away from my Christian walk at a "conservative" college...I couldn't imagine what it would've been like at such a liberal school as UT!
I wish I would've been better prepared to defend my faith and really find out why I believe what I believe...instead of just relying on what I was always taught. I am SO thankful for God's GRACE though-- it has definitely covered a lot in my life!
Wow, that guy is patient and is a great writer! I'll definitely have to check out Part 2 of this article. Thanks for the link...I'll have to peruse his writings some more.

I took that part about College Station out. It wasn't essential to the post. I didn't fact check that one part, and Marsha calls me on it. Sheesh! ;-)
I love these sorts of discussions. Reminds me of one I had with a college prof. once. I'm dying to know how this turns out. When will it be published?
