I put out a post a month ago Sunday that addressed a campaign and counter-campaign regarding Colorado's Referendum I. It was called Dogs Don't Moo, But Denverites Think They Do. The Moo campaign is for Referendum I, designed to legalize same-sex partnerships in Colorado. Apparently, the cuteness of the campaign has worn off.
I'm reminded when people burned things on other people's lawns to frighten them because they weren't the correct color or the correct religion. If I were the Sewells, I wouldn't be sleeping too well either. On the other hand, I admire their courage and hope that they will keep it up. I also hope this guy gets caught.
If you live in Colorado, vote no on Referendum I and vote yes on Amendment 43. Keep marriage between one man and one woman.
I really hope and pray that that referendum doesn't pass. People need to wake up and see what's happening in our society.
I wrote a column that appeared in quite a few newspapers about this when Canada legalized same sex marriage a while ago. Here's part of what I said:
Many people ask "how is allowing homosexuals to marry going to hurt my marriage?" It likely wont. But heres what will happen, and what already has happened in the nations that allow gay marriage. Gay marriage makes it less likely that anybody will get married in the first place. Marriage was once an institution that preserved the family by being the only socially acceptable place to have children. By preserving that type of union that could create children, you guaranteed that when they did come into the picture, they would be protected.
Once divorce and cohabitation became widespread so that marriage was no longer central to family, we made marriage less about children than it was about adult wishes. Gay marriage shows this to the extreme. Its now a lifestyle choice you can take or leave. And as soon as its only a lifestyle choice, its one fewer will make. So while gay marriage wont affect your marriage, it will, as it has in Scandinavia, make it less likely that your children will marry, and that will affect your grandchildren.

I'm glad that some people, like these you've told about, still have the courage to stand up for the future of our society!
