The Christmas Blizzard of 2006
Posted in Around the House
This is getting a bit serious. Chain laws are in effect everywhere. Airports that are designed to handle most snow storms are closed. Interstates are closed with no talk of reopening them in the next few hours. Avalanche warnings are out all over the place because the massive amount of snow sitting on a looser layer of snow makes for a dangerous situation. Now we hear that the Governor is asking everyone to stay home until the all-clear sounds. He has called out the National Guard to rescue folks in their cars. Counties are being declared disaster areas. Like I said, it's serious.
They say the snow won't let up until noon tomorrow, if that. They are officially calling this the Christmas Blizzard of 2006. People are stranded in restaurants because they can't find hotels.
One person has already died. Pray for the folks out there.
We'll be praying here.
We'll be praying for God to keep everyone safe and warm and comfort this family.
Since we visited CO springs a couple of years ago we've been teasing each other about picking up and moving there. I've changed my mind now--we'll maybe. It's still a beautiful place.
