States of Mind

Posted in Blog Management

Since starting to watch visitors come in a little over a month ago, I've been thrilled to see people come here from all over the country and all over the world. This morning, someone came in from Johannesburg, South Africa, over 9,000 miles away.

Now before anyone gets panicky, that's all I can see. That and some statistics about your browser, which helps me design the page here. But I can see the states that visit here and there are 6 states I've never seen on here:
  • Alaska
  • Montana
  • New Hampshire
  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • and Wyoming
I feel like the kid who has every Star Wars action figure but Han Solo or the Coloradoan who has bagged every 14'er except Long's Peak and Crestone Needle. I have to wonder if these states just don't have any homeschooling dads. Yes, I know they're less populous (that's the way I like 'em). Still, if you were to think of a lifestyle suited to homeschooling, it would be homesteading. You don't have to run the kids seven miles to school in blizzards. Instead, you do the sensible thing and stay home. Come to think of it, that makes sense for nearly everyone.

Anyway...if you see homeschool dads wandering these states, send them my way!

12:40 PM - Ask and you shall receive. Welcome New Hampshire!

Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - very cool

Posted by Kristee

I saw the flags on your blog and thought it was very cool. I am new to blogging and not that great at it. I have been watching the trickle of traffic I get. Today an interesting thing occured. I blogged my frustration w/ Islam, Hamas and Muhammed cartoons. And within 5 mins. I get a vistor from Islamabad, Pakistan, after having zero traffic for days!

Blessings,
Kristee :o)

Tuesday, February 14, 2006 - The Problem Is In The Details

Posted by SteveWalden

Hi Kristy of 2Tidbits,

I'd be happy to help you. I think the problem is in the details for implementing it.

I'm assuming you're using Site Meter. Once you've signed up for the service and selected your options, it will give you the htrml code for putting the site counter in your template. You should then copy and paste *all* of the html code they give you into the appropriate space in your template. You do this by clicking "Edit Template" link in your control panel and then scrolling down to the bottom and putting it between the page navigation and the end of your blog.

Once you have it visible on your blog, you should be able to click on the link, type in your username and password and be able to view your statistics.

If you have further questions, e-mail me at stevewalden@yahoo.com . Thanks!

Steve

I can't bring them in, but I can tell you that I know we have folks here from Alaska and NH. HomespunHearts and Alaska0girl are from Alaska and homeschoolingnascarmomma is from NH. Maybe you could go by and invite them to come see your site......

Have you been by MattMann's blog to see if you would be the first in your state to send him an email? He's collecting them for a school project.

And isn't that SiteMeter addictive. People from Australia, Belgium, the UK, Ireland have all been to my blog - wow! I never imagined, I could have such an impact for single moms and for the Lord with something as simple and trendy as a blog!
