Remembering A Child

Posted in General Parenting

Tomorrow marks 3 months since my 6 year-old son lost his friend Savannah to a sudden and rare illness. He still talks about her. We go by her grave and talk about it. With some distance from November, I still don't have all the answers. My mind still can't quite understand why tragedy strikes one family while leaving another alone.

If you were to pick one guy who loved his daughter more than life itself, it would be Savannah's father, Kevin. They would do everything together, fly RC planes, go for drives, and take long walks. Savannah and her mom would sit and read the Bible together in the mornings. One day they were homeschooling their daughter and the next morning, they were in the ER wondering how they had lost their little girl.

For a guy who has the words for everything...I don't know what to say. Please pray for this family.

Steve:
My deepest sympathies. I pray for her family and your family as you deal with the deep grief. The of a child leaves a hole in one's heart that seems will never fill again. May God grant her famly and yours peace in your hearts.
