What Is This Obsession With Teeth?
Posted in Around the House
Some of you might wonder why I haven't
posted in a day and a half, far below my daily average. Well, there's
an explanation, and it is related to teeth.
And you're saying, "Oh, not
another blog about
teeth. This is getting old!"
Au contraire, mon frere. I am not blogging about my child's lost tooth. I am blogging about
mine.
Yup. I lost a tooth. At least, part of one. I think. It's still in
there. But last night at dinner, right before I was going to get on and
blog about something, an errant bone maneuvered into my mandibles and I
made the mistake of masticating it. (no, that's not a dirty word...
look it up). Crack went the tooth, and I had an odd sensation I have no real comparison for that won't make you toss cookies.
So I have an appointment with a dentist on Wednesday, which is the
earliest we can get in. Until then, I'm gingerly working around it or
sticking to protein shakes--bleah!--if it comes down to that. If
anything, I'll be thinner after this ordeal.
In other news,
we are almost over the flu. My 9 year-old daughter is the only one in
the thick of it right now. Her 2 year-old sister is back to her
wonderful, adventurous old self. Her appetite came back Wednesday
night. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that it was her
favorite food: pizza. Regardless, she's back to 100%, thank God! Thanks
for your prayers.
Now, as soon as we're done with this tooth,
we actually might enjoy ourselves to go out on our anniversary date. At
this rate, we'll have it around Memorial Day.

Thanks, Amy and OreoSouza. I hope I can keep from losing the whole tooth (and nothing but the tooth). Insert dental joke here.

I know the sensation you mean. I only chipped a tooth once one a sideways fork, but the sensation will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I can't think about it without my whole body convulsing and my tongue working around those teeth to make sure they're still there.
Ouch!

Thanks, Confessor. I have definitely cringed more than once through this whole thing.

My husband has gone through the tooth thing so many times... blames it on my cooking sometimes... ;-) It's not fun, for sure. Hope you get it taken care of soon... it's pretty miserable to have to put up with it for long.
