Mar. 22, 2007 - Happy Birthday, Dear Scott
Today is my husband's 36th birthday. (Hopefully I won't be spending it in the hospital like my friend nsremom did on her hubby's 36th. Read her birthday post! Hilarious!)
We've been married for a little over 13 years. In some ways, this has been the toughest year of our marriage. We're so different in our needs, our love languages, our history. And as I'm learning in Love and Respect by Emerson Eggeriches (GREAT BOOK!), we've spent this year on "the crazy cycle." Mostly my own fault. Today laying in bed before dragging myself up, I was praying for him, thanking God for him, and recognizing things I love and respect about him. Here are a few:
He loves me despite me.
He makes everyone laugh.
He never criticizes me.
He is wise.
He thinks my freckles, red hair, and giant butt are beautiful.
He enjoys people and always sees the best in them.
He is loyal to his family, his friends, his boss, even grouchy church people.
He is great with children and kids everywhere love "Mr. Scott".
He wants to come home to us each night (despite me).
He makes crazy, creative food with the girls.
He doesn't take life too seriously.
He is making a mudroom for me just because he wants to make me happy.
He believes in me like no one else.
He has a servant's heart.
He thinks I am incredible if I feed him any kind of cheese.
He has such a deep, constant, abiding faith.
He brings me a glass of water every night.
He makes everyday life fun.
He is unbelievably intelligent.
He can perform Spanish dancing, tying a bow with his feet.
He is amazingly creative.
He writes beautiful love letters.
He chose me. Despite me.
He will never leave me.
Happy Birthday, Scott. I love you!

What a wonderful post. What a wonderful husband. What a wonderful wife to say this about him. I wish God's best for you both.
(I haven't read Emerson's book. He was my pastor for probably close to 20 yrs, and the subject was his forte. This was back when he went by Pastor Eddie. Cute, eh?)

AWW! How Sweet! I should write a list like that for my husband. How affirming! Scott sounds like a good man!
I feel like a stuffed toad right now. We just finished eating dinner. I ate WAY too much, and we especially loved the Mountain Dew Bread! It was quite a hit....I think I'll make more this weekend for my company. Thanks so much for the recipe!

What a sweet love letter to your man. Cool.
And your husband loves you 'despite' your big butt line.....made me smile. My husband loves me 'despite' my no longer flat stomach......sigh.....
Next week is our 14th anniversary. (quiet twillight zone music plays.....) Yet another similarity.
Your husband sounds like a really nice man. And when it all comes down to it. (trust me, this last year has been our hardest year for some odd reason....) A lot rests on the solidness of our mens' character, ya know? They are the rocks that keep us safe and sane. 'Cause if you really are like me, you tend to go this way and that way and need a constant like a REALLY GOOD MAN.
am I right?

Hi Cindy,
It sounds like you have a wonderful husband! I rarely hear those kinds of things!
I am also very happy that he loved Bananagrams!
Blessings,
Hallie

Happy belated b-day to your husband.
I found you over at Debbie Corley's blog and I just wanted to stop by to say thanks for the bread recipe.
It was great! I made it with beer instead of Mountain Dew. It was so fluffy and sweet and buttery. Thanks!

Now, you just gotta love a guy who thinks his wife's giant butt is beautiful. :)
Sounds like God gave you a keeper.
