Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Brianna hummed as she walked home. The principle had been really nice and said that Rocky did deserve the punch, but he said that if she did it again he would not be so merciful. She had been invited over to the Took’s house for dinner, she was going to go home and change and then head next door. She started to daydream about flying through the clouds again. “Going somewhere?” A voice asked. Brianna started to run. She knew that voice! She heard him running behind her. She screamed as he grabbed her hair. She fell hard on the cement and hit her head. For a few seconds she just lay there. Then she realized that she was in the air. She started to kick and scream. She opened her eyes and saw that the man was carrying her to a car on the side of the road. She kicked even harder and screamed even louder. Then she saw Tanner running down the sidewalk. “Put her down!” he yelled. The man didn’t stop, he walked up to the car and threw Brianna in. Brianna lay there not moving.

~

Tanner ran up towards the guy. It was the same man who had attacked Brianna before. It broke his heart to see her being hurt. He jumped at the guy and the guy smacked him down. Tanner cheek was throbbing and he tried to get up but the man grabbed him and threw him into the car next to Brianna. Tanner jumped towards the door but it was locked from the outside there was no way to unlock it from inside. There was a divider between the front seat and the back seat. Dang, this guy is smart! Tanner heard the driver door open and then shut. The guy was in the car. Tanner turned and saw Brianna laying on the floor of the car. She wasn’t moving. Tanner picked her up and set her in his arms. Her head and elbows were bleeding. “I will save you my dear!” he whispered.

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

It was her first day at her new school and Laura was scared. She had just been transferred to this school and it was the middle of the year. Why me? She thought. Every body stared at her as she walked down the hall and she saw them whispering. I wonder what they’re saying about me. She thought. She found her locker but it wouldn’t open and so she would have to carry her books around with her. She started toward her first class. She was walking by a boy around 15 when he stuck his foot out and she fell flat on her face. Her books went flying everywhere and everyone laughed. She sat up and fixed her dress. She reached forward to pick up her books and realized someone else already was. Sitting there on the floor was a beautiful girl with long brown hair. “Hi.” The girl said. “My name is Brianna.” Laura smiled. “I’m Laura!” she said in her high sweet voice. Brianna picked up the rest of the books and stood up. “You have quite a lot. Why don’t you put it in your locker?” Brianna asked. Laura smiled sheepishly. “Well umm… I cant get it open.” She said and grimaced. Brianna smiled. “Oh. Well you can put your books in my locker.” Brianna said and gave Laura her books. Just then the boy that had tripped Laura walked up to them. “Pack-girl and Drama Queen! Haha what a pair!” He said and laughed. Brianna went up to him. “Shut up Rocky!” She yelled. Rocky smiled. “What are you gonna do about it?” He said. Brianna stepped towards him and slugged him right on the nose. “Brianna!” Ms Davis said coming up behind her. “What are you doing!” she said as she examined Rocky’s nose. Rocky started to cry.  Brianna looked at Ms. Davis. “But… He was calling us names!” She yelled. Just then a boy with spiky brown hair came up behind Brianna. “What’s going on?” he asked. Laura looked at him. “Brianna slugged Rocky.” She said. The boy smiled. “Awesome!” he said. Ms. Davis gave him an evil glare. He stopped smiling. “Look Ms. Davis, Rocky Blake is always bugging people. I’m sure there was a good reason for this.” Ms. Davis turned to Brianna. “Report to the principles office. NOW!” She yelled as she guided the crying Rocky to the nurses office. Laura turned to Brianna. “I am so sorry!” she said. Brianna smiled. “No it’s fine. That felt really good.” The boy laughed. Laura turned to him. “Hi, I’m Laura.” She said with a big smile. The boy smiled. “Oh the new girl. Well I am Tanner.” Brianna started towards the principles office and then turned back. “Oh, Laura my locker is number 42.” Then she turned around and walked down the hallway. Laura looked over at Tanner. He was staring at Brianna. Laura laughed. “You like her?” she asked. Tanner smiled. “Is it that obvious?” He asked. Laura smiled. “I would be surprised if she didn’t know.” She said then she turned and walked the hallway toward locker 42. Tanner laughed. “Wow, is it really that obvious?” he said quietly. Then he walked toward his classroom.

Chapter 3 (Again)

Chapter 3

Brianna sighed and then started her story. “I was born in Ohio. I was happy living my Mom, Dad, and little sister, Trixi. When I turned 3 everything changed. My mom disappeared and I got these weird growths on my back. I showed them to my dad and at first he was absolutely shocked, then he told me I would have to wear a backpack and hide them. For 8 years I wore a backpack all the time. I took care of my little sister while my dad worked and basically became the mom. The day after my 11th birthday my mom came back. She told me that I am what is called an anthrozil, part human and part dragon.” Brianna stopped talking for a minute and looked straight at Tanner. Then she stood up and continued. “She told me if anything were to happen to Dad that I needed to leave the house with Trixi and not come back. My mom told me that that I would need to go to Montana and find Andrew Took.” Tanner smiled. “My dad.” He said. “Yes.” Brianna said. “She arranged for the foster home to send me here to Montana. Then my mom disappeared again and 4 years later a man came and killed my father. I watched my Dad die then the man came after me. I ran to my Trixi’s room grabbed her and jumped out the window. I broke my ankle and could barely move. I managed to get up and limp to the foster home with Trixi in my arms. I told them that our house had been robbed and my father killed and then they took Trixi away from me and sent me here. I was sent to the Brown’s house. Just next door to your house. This is my second week here and I am so glad that I found your family.” Brianna smiled and sat back down. “BRRRUUPPP.” Daniel belched loudly and then burst out laughing. Tanner and Brianna joined in and then a pillow fight began. Brianna plopped down and breathed heavily, Tanner and Daniel sat down on the couch. Brianna got up and looked out the window. “Looks like my foster parents are home. See ya!” Brianna ran out the door and Tanner got up and watched her leave, then he shut the door and turned to look at Daniel. “Nice. That was smooth Mr. Burps a lot!” Daniel laughed. “Shut up dude.”

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Brianna stared out the window in her tiny bedroom. It was 8 o’clock.  Tanner seemed like a nice guy. She thought. He was handsome and charming. He is a very kind person. Not like all the other boys I have met at school. He is nothing like that Rocky Blake.  She walked over to her bed and pulled out her journal. Just as she was about to write she heard something hit her window. She ran and opened her window, there in the backyard was Tanner. She laughed. “Hey,” she whispered. Tanner beamed at her. “I have come to rescue the damsel in distress.” He said smiling bigger now. “Are your foster parents awake.” He said quietly, the smile was gone. “No.” Brianna whispered. “They are dead asleep.” Tanner smiled again. “Can you climb down or should I catch you?” he asked. Brianna laughed quietly. “I will be down in a minute.” She said. Then she walked over to her closet pulled out a sweater, threw it out the window and started to climb down. She was about 5 feet from the bottom when her foot caught and she fell. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact and opened them again when she felt strong arms, instead of the ground. She looked up into Tanner’s brown eyes. “Hi.” She said. Tanner set her down and grabbed her hand. Then he started to walk down the street. Brianna shivered as she followed him. Tanner stopped walking and turned around. He handed her the sweater she had thrown down and she grimaced. “What?” he asked her. “I can’t fit it on over my backpack.” She said with a frown and another shiver. Tanner pulled her into the forest on the side of the road and when they were far enough in he stopped and turned towards her. “You can slip off the backpack now. No one is watching.” He said. “I can even go behind a tree if you like.” Brianna smiled at the kindness of this young man. “No your fine.” She said. Brianna slipped of the backpack and as she did two beautiful blue wings spread out behind her. Tanner gasped at her beauty. Brianna laid the backpack on the ground and pulled on the sweater. Tanner went and helped her put her wings through the holes in the back. Then he slipped on the backpack. They walked quietly out of the forest and down the road. “ So where is my night is shining armor taking me?” Brianna asked. Tanner smiled. “You’ll just have to wait and see.” He said then he took her hand and turned off the road onto a dirt path. Then he started to run and she ran along beside him. The path veered to the right and when they turned to corner the path ended and Tanner kept running right into the forest. They kept running for about ten minutes when they suddenly emerged into a big meadow with wild flowers and long grass. In the middle of the meadow stood a huge tree and built in the tree was a magnificent tree house. Tanner smiled and stopped running. “Like it?” he asked. Brianna gasped. “It’s amazing!” she said and almost before she had finished a rope ladder swung down out of the tree house and Daniel climbed down. “Hello, lovebirds.” He said as he walked towards them. Tanner growled playfully and tackled Daniel to the ground then he stood up and pointed towards the ladder. “Lady’s first.” He said. Brianna laughed and climbed up the ladder as Daniel tackled Tanner. She reached to top and stepped up into a big room with two large tables and shelves above each. On the shelves above the table on the right there was tools, nails, what looked like shark teeth, and tons of pocket knives. It was what the things above and around the table on the left that made Brianna gasp. All around the walls there was pictures of all sorts of things. One showed a troll, another unicorn. They all were very detailed and beautiful. On the shelves above the desk they was all manner of art supplies. Pencils, crayons, markers, and all sorts of paper. Brianna walked over to the table and felt a tear roll down her cheek as she looked at the picture sitting there. It was a picture of a knight and a princess, but the princess had wings and on the bottom of the paper it said. To my dear princess, Brianna.

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Tanner

Tanner walked down the hallway and thought about the girl he had just met. Is she the one that his father had told him about? He saw his friend Daniel coming towards him and he waved. Daniel reached him and sighed. “You look like your thinking about something.” He said. “That’s not good.” He smiled. Tanner playfully smacked him on the arm. “Yeah I was actually thinking about this girl I just met. Her name is Brianna.” Tanner said and his mind wandered back to the beautiful brown haired girl. Daniel laughed. “Oh yeah, pack girl.” He said. Tanner sighed. “That’s the one.” They walked out the doors of the school and down towards the parking lot. “Do you want to ride the bus today?” Daniel asked Tanner. “Umm… No not really.” Tanner said and they started down the sidewalk. “So,” Tanner said looking at his best friend. “Do you know much about this girl?” Daniel smiled. “She lives next door to you. Maybe you should talk to her yourself.” He laughed. “Unless your to chicken?” Tanner chased him the rest of the way home. Then they laid down in the grass and laughed. “You want to come inside?” Tanner asked Daniel. “My parents are in Montana for the week.” He got up and walked to the front door. “I’ll stay for a little bit.” Daniel said and then he followed Tanner into the house. Tanner threw Daniel a soda out of the fridge and then he sat down on the couch. Tanner looked out the window and saw Brianna walking up the steps to her house. She got to the door and tried to open it but it was locked and she sat down on the steps and buried her face in her hands. Tanner set his soda down on the table and went outside. “Hey Brianna. You locked out?” He said as he walked over to her. Brianna stood up and laughed sadly. “Yeah, I guess my foster parents are out or something.” Tanner tried to hide his shock. She was an orphan. “You want to come inside? It’s at least warmer than out here.” He said and held out his hand. Brianna smiled. “Thanks, I’d love to.” They started to walk towards the house when a man grabbed Brianna’s shoulder. “There you are Brianna.” Tanner turned around and there stood a tall and ugly man with burns on his face. Something about this man made Tanner uncomfortable. “Hello young man.” The man said to Tanner. “I see you’ve become friends with my daughter.” The man said gesturing to Brianna. “Well my dear we need to get going.” The man said to Brianna. Tanner looked at Brianna, she looked absolutely terrified. “Tanner this man is not my father!” She said and tried to get out of his grasp. The man held her very tight and steered her towards a car that was waiting by the sidewalk. Brianna was kicking and thrashing trying to get out of the man’s grasp. “Tanner! This man is not my father please help me!!” she yelled. Then Tanner made a decision. He ran up to the man and kicked him hard in the leg. The man yelped and fell to the ground. Just then Daniel ran out of the house. “What’s going on!” he yelled. Tanner ignored him and grabbed Brianna. Daniel followed then he stood next to Brianna and waited for Tanner to be done locking the door. Tanner spun around. “What’s going on!” He yelled. Brianna sighed and sat down on the couch. She gestured to the spot next to her. “Sit and I’ll explain.” She said.

Chapter 1

The Dragon Children

Chapter 1

Brianna

Brianna sat at her desk in biology and stared out the window. The clouds were dark and moving fast, a thunder storm was coming. Then her mind wandered and she imagined herself flying through the clouds the wind in her hair. She jumped all of the sudden as a ruler smacked down on her desk. “Brianna, why aren’t you paying attention?” Said Ms. Davis, the teacher. “Oh…” replied Brianna. “Well I was until the very end there.” She said shyly. She looked around the classroom and all the students laughed. “Ha pack girls going to detention!” One of the students said. Brianna turned back to the teacher. “I’m really sorry Ms. Davis it won’t happen again.” She said sadly. Just then the bell rang and all the students ran out of the class room. Ms. Davis sighed. “I’m not going to send you to detention.” She said to Brianna. “Just help me clean up will you.” Brianna nodded. “I’d be happy to help.” She replied. She walked over to a corner of the class room and grabbed a broom that was sitting there. “Hey, Ms. Davis.” Brianna turned around as she heard the young male’s voice. There was a boy around 16 standing in the doorway. Ms. Davis smiled. “Hello Tanner.” She said. Tanner walked over to a desk and set his backpack down. Then he looked over at Brianna. “Hey,” he smiled warmly. “I’m Tanner.” He said reaching out to shake her hand. Brianna shook his hand and smiled. His hand was warm and soft. He was the first kid at the school that was nice to her and talked to her. Tanner smiled back. Then he let go. He noticed the red adult size backpack on her back. “Not to be rude, but you must be the one they call Pack Girl.” He said. Brianna laughed half heartedly. Everyone at school called her that because she never took off her backpack she was always wearing it. “Yup that’s me!” She said casually. Ms Davis handed Tanner a chalk board eraser. “Here you go Tanner.” She said and walked out of the room. “So…” Tanner said walking towards the chalk board. “Got in trouble during class huh?” he asked. Brianna picked up the broom and started to sweep. “Yeah, I was day dreaming.” She answered. It was so easy to talk to him. She thanked god silently for giving her a friend. Tanner laughed. “I do that sometimes too.” He said as he wiped away the stuff on the chalk board. Brianna watched the chalk fall like snow to the ground. Tanner turned towards her. “I gotta go I’ll see you Monday though right?” he said as he put the eraser down. Brianna swept the dirt off the floor into the garbage can. “Yeah. I’ll be there.” She said and smiled. It felt good to smile. Tanner picked his backpack up off the desk. “Hey I never got your name.” he said before he walked out the door. Brianna smiled again. “Brianna, my name is Brianna.” She said. Tanner flashed her a huge smile. “See you next week, Brianna.” He said and then he walked out the door. Brianna watched him leave and then sighed happily. There was something about him that just made her happy. Then she picked up her notepad off the desk and left the room.

No Land!

Jack sparrow stood at the bow of his ship. He gazed out at the the open water before him. "Gibbs!" He yelled. Gibbs came running. "Yes captain?" Gibbs answered. "Who stole the land." Jack asked. "What?" Gibbs said. Jack turned to look at him. "There is no land someone stole it!" he said. "Well sir," Gibbs answered. "Maybe if we sail east we will find land." Jack was furious now. "I DONT WANT TO SAIL EAST I WANT TO SAIL NORTH!" he yelled. "Oh, Sorry sir." Gibbs said. "LAND HO!" Marty yelled. Jack looked to the east and sure enough there was an island. "See sir." Gibbs said. "There is land to the east." Jack shook his head. "But we had to sail north to get to it." Jack walked off feeling quite proud of himself. Gibbs frowned and stomped after his captain.
