Did you know that Christmas and Valentines Day are pagan holidays? If you don't, I'll explain.
My Mommy did some research on this subject. She said that in Jeremiah 10:2-4 that the pagan chops down a tree and puts it in his house.Sound familiar, uh?
Plus, what does Santa Claus, toys, and a flying sled and reindeer have to do with Jesus' birth? Besides, we should be celebrating what God did for us every day.
Now Valentines Day, this holiday used to be a Roman festival called Lupercalia on February 15. It was about love. Cupid (You have probualy seen a picture of Cupid) was the supposed ''god of love'' and it was thought that Cupid had arrows that he shot at people, and made them fall in love.A Pope named Gelasius decided that February 14 would be Saint Valentines Day.(Named after a man named Valentine.Their were really two men named Valentine, but I won't get in to that)For many years on this day Christians remember the saints. But sadly, today, we see candy, pink and red cards, and hearts. I think that God would not want me to celebrate these holidays. We did a little something for Christmas that I will not do when I grow up. |
