Striving to be like a Proverbs 31 woman

Sep. 15, 2008 - Not good at this sort of thing

I am not good at keeping a blog. I love to read other people's blogs, especially ones that are homeschooling and Christian blogs.  I have about 10 or so that I follow all the time and get bummed if they are not updated. Then there is mine.  =(

I vowed that this would be the one I would keep up and write in every day (or almost every day) even if it is just for myself to read.

So here is a little update from the last time I wrote.  I just found out that I got a B+ on my Human Development test.   It was a HARD test, so I am pleased that I did so well.  I am going to be getting my test back today from my math class.  I am hoping for an A. I know that I missed 2 though. grrrr.  I HATE negative numbers.  sigh

It has been a month, I think a little over a month now that Jonathan was diagnosed with Autism.  All the little quirk things that he has been doing for so long were actually autistic qualities.  The main thing we are working on now (and have been for a long time) is his yelling.  I guess it is an autism thing.  It has been very hard to get him to stop.  We are also changing his diet. I am hoping things improve as that changes too.

Toney and Nate are doing well in school.  4th and 5th grades! i am not sure how they got that old so fast??!!  It feels like yesterday that Toney was in Kindergarten.  Circling little pictures. I know he would love to go back to that easy work. ha! poor guy is having  a hard time with math right now.

Today  I asked Nate to write in his journal.  you would have thought I was asking him to walk up a HUGE mountain with no shoes or something!

Well, the boys are done with their chores and I need to start mine before I leave for school.

Aug. 17, 2008 - Oh here I go again!

I dont know why I am suprised. I KNEW I would not keep up with this blog.  sigh.  So I shall try *one* more time to get this thing going. I have so much going on in my life that this would be a good place to get my thoughts organized.

Let's see what has happened since the last time I posted......  2 major fires in our county. 1 of them being 1/8th of a mile from my home.  That was an exciting week to say the least!  I should post some pictures as my dh got some wonderful shots of it.  My two oldest boys made alot of new firefighter friends, Took 3 rides in firetrucks and passed out a billion brownies, sodas, waters and other stuff to the firemen.  My mom and I made breakfast for 30 some odd people one morning. that was fun! it was like cooking in a resteraunt.

We have had a really busy summer.  Between camping, scouts and other activities, the summer flew by.

Some major decisions have been made.  We are not going to be going to Awana anymore. that was not an easy decision to make either.  But now we will be spending more time on scouts.  that is going to work out well, that and I will have Thursday evenings without being rushed .  Oh that sounds nice right now!

Another of my major decisions has to do with Jonathan my 3 year old.  So much has happened with him lately.  He still was not speaking.  That and several other problems we had/have with him lead me to take him to the dr. where he was diagnosed with Autism last Thursday.  I knew something was off with him for a LONG time now.  But had no idea what. I prayed and prayed and prayed and we decided to get him checked out.  Even though I was prepared to hear what was wrong, sitting in that chair and hearing "I am sorry, but your son has autism" was SO very difficult for me.  I have been really depressed about it lately.  Not sure where or how to go about dealing with this. I am relieved on one hand though, knowing that I can AND will be able to help him now.

I bought 3 books on the subject with a Christian perpsective.  that is enough about that.

Tomorrow I start my 4th semester of college. The funny thing about that is after this semester, I will have taken just about the same amout of classes as someone does in one semester who goes full time!  I am thinking this college thing will take awhile! HA! But it is a good way to get all A's!!!!!!  =)

Toney and Nate will start school after Labor day weekend. So I will post agian later.  Ha!

May. 8, 2008 - New Blog....Fresh start.

I think this is my 5th or so time to start a blog.  I get all excited to start a new blog.  I start the new blog.  I then forget about my blog and never post again.  So I try to get back to my blog and realize that I have no idea where it is or what my blog's name was.  So I have to start the entire process again.

Really, I am not sure why I am starting AGAIN, other than I see other people's blogs and see their great pictures and want to do that myself.  So here I am agian.  New blog.  No pictures yet though.

I guess I should RE introduce myself.  I am a Christian mom of 3 boys.  I want to strive (thus the name of this blog) to be a Proverbs 31 woman.  That is no easy feat.  But I am trying.  I am raising three boys.  They are 2 (3 next month)   9 and 10!  I am trying my best to raise them to be godly men, who will dedicate their lives to the Lord.

I am in college.  (VERY and I do mean VERY part time) This is my third semester and I have taken 4 classes.  I think i will be there a LONG time.  sigh.

I homeschool my boys.  That is fun.  I am enjoying it more and more as the years go on.  I am going to buy some fun preschool stuff for J (3) for this coming up fall.  it is made just for 3 year olds. I am soo looking forward to that.

I just learned to knit (recently) and have made lots of hats, wash clothes, and bibs.  Now I am making a sweater.  that is turning out to be a FUN project.  It will be for J to wear.  I am hoping he will be able to wear it this fall too as it is now getting to be TOO warm for sweaters.

(J) is my baby.  well, he will be 3 in June, but still is my baby.  He loves Curious George.  He loves to play with blocks, his blanket and his brothers. His brothers in turn, adore him to peices!

(T) is 10.  it is hard for me to believe how fast that has gone by.  He is alot of fun.  He loves legos, knex, armies, of course star wars AND now has become interested in Indiana Jones. He enjoys reading (most of the time) and playing with his brothers.

(N) is 9.  Loves animals, legos, star wars, his cat (who just gave birth to kittens, 3 weeks ago) and playing in his town. which he made in the back yard.
