My Favorite Part of Having a New President

First of all I want to say thank you to everyone who responded to my last entry, both as comments here and privately.  You guys really encouraged me and gave me some stuff to consider.

Secondly, I just have to say that I'm really excited about our new president for one reason:  No more email forwards from my Democrat friends!  I cannot tell you how sick I am of getting "I hate Bush, pass it on" emails.  I mean, what's up with that?  Why do people think that I want to hear all their latest feelings on politics, especially when they know I'm a Republican?  Are they trying to use cheesy email forwards to convert me?  I actually had to flag someone I know as "spam" because it got so irritating.  Of course, that person had no idea I spammed him.  That would be rude.

I look forward with hope to an emptier inbox.

North Carolina was considered a battleground state so we were receiving phone calls approx. every hour from various campaigns not just presidential. I am so glad that we now have caller ID to notify me of all the political callers. I then learned that the former owners of this house were registered Democrats so our mailbox was full of not only Republican fliers but Democratic fliers. Needless to say my mailbox was overflowing. So I am with you in that the only good thing about Election Day being over is no more phone calls and no more junk mail.

Not to mention that Bush Derangement Syndrome placed unrealistically high expectations on one man. Now the country is the Democrats Tableau to screw up!

Nov. 5, 2008 - I understand how you feel...

...but for a different reason. For the past three weeks, I got something in my regular outdoor mailbox EVERY SINGLE DAY with negative information about Barach Obama. It did not come from friends or acquaintances, and it did not come from John McCain himself either. It came from the Republican National Committee. From what I've heard Senator McCain speak, I don't even think that he would approve of these "fliers." I think that he'd be embarrassed by them. They didn't say "I approved this message."

I would not have minded hearing about why the Republican National Committee would like me to vote for their candidate....all the positive reasons why he would be a good choice. But I was offended and sickened by the onslaught of negative, negative, negative that I did receive.

I believe that both candidates personally were above that sort of behavior. It's too bad that their parties didn't always take the high road as well.

I'm excited that we have a new president too! I have actually never felt so excited to vote before. I was happy to cast my vote for Senator Obama, but I also voted for several local Republicans....because in my county seven out of eight positions were Republicans running unopposed! LOL

I'm sorry that you got all that oppressive e-mail and glad that now you can have a nice, happy, empty mailbox!

Love, Kristi
