God bless
Love,
Hannah

• Friday, October 10, 2008 - Do you Journal?

Posted By JessicaLetchford in The Diary of my Existance

Do you journal?  I love journalling!  My current journal would be my third or forth, because the others are either unfinished or lost!

For me, I’ve been continually inspired by several parties.

  1. Millie Keith (from A Life of Faith).  When she wrote, she wrote a lot of her feelings down.
  2. Hudson Taylors’ mother and sisters. I read a biography of him and it talks several times of how they would look back at journaled events that happened to them, and it’s helped me to take the time to write in my journal well.
  3. Rachel Joy Scott.  She was a Christian martyr in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.  I read her biography, Rachel’s Tears by her parents, Beth Nimmo and Darrell Scott.  Her journals were a declaration of her faith and predominantly, her prayers to God (from what I read from the excerpts).  She had amazing faith; I highly recommend the book.

I write about events and also record my prayers.  Sometimes I write down songs I like.  When I first started I would title each entry, and it would be written in a more formal way, but I write more causually now and try to actually put my thoughts on paper.  Sometimes I write to a person, like a birthday wish.   I write about books that I enjoy and have made me think.  Or I write down challenging thoughts I’ve been having.

For my devotions, I have another journal, in which I mostly write a verse everyday from the passage I was reading.  The only way I’ll remember a sermon is to write it down, so I take it to Church with me.  Sometimes I write prayers in there too.  Occasionally, I have something from my devotional booklet I want to write down.

I have a third sort of journal too: a reading journal.  In it I write thoughts, quotes, timelines, mud maps, ideas for notebook pages, lists, family trees, topics for future research, questions – anything from the books I’m reading!  I don’t really have a choice in this sort, but I like doing it now.

My journal is simply a normal bound, lined paper book, with a Jessica-decorated cover.  I’ve typed up songs that mean a lot to me, and made a banner that matches my blog banner (!), put a sticker on there, and glued it all onto yellow paper, glued onto the book.   Although I’d prefer it not laminated, it was getting too tatty otherwise, so I laminated it.

So, do you journal?  Do you like it?  Why or why not?  Are you 'forced' to journal, or is it something you chose to do?

Jess

Wow. What a awesome day I had at Disney with our friends. At first we were all kind of quiet. It's weird seeing your friends for the first time in like a year. They've gotten older and their interests have changed and plus they were kind of tired from a full weekend. We warmed up to each other very quickly though. We've know this family ever since I can remember. So we found things to talk about quickly. We went on the new Toy Story Ride. If you go to Disney's Hollywood Studious you have to go on that ride. It's a 4-D ride which pulls you around to different shooting galleries to rack up points. Its a blast. My friend was pulling his shooter so hard( he was really into the game) that he was shaking the car we were in.

Then we did the Rocken Roller Costar, ate some lunch, and saw the Lights, Motor, Action show. After all that our friends were still a little tired so we stopped for a soda break. ( well a Ice Coffee break for me and my mom..lol.. we've been there so much we know where the good coffee place is at Disney's MGM) after that we went back to do some other rides. By the time we went back to do Tower of Terror the caffeine hit our blood stream and we were full of energy from there on.

We had such a blast. I forget how much fun I have with my friends. We've grown up together and seen God give us each a special personality. All throughout the day we kept bouncing back stories of different stuff we did as kids. Like going to the beach with them 2 summers in a row, climbing tree houses, and even fighting with lightsabers. It was so fun to remember those memories.

It's one thing FaceBooking back and forth with each other and actually seeing each other. We had so much fun. I cant wait till this weekend when we go back down to see them before they leave.

God's blessed me with such great friends over the years. Especially the one's I was able to grow up with. There just so special to me and I thank God for the memories He has created for us and for the memories to come.

In Christ

Samantha

• Oct. 8, 2008 - Yesterday and Today

Posted By God Keeps His Promises!

Hey everyone,

Today is my great grandmother’s 93rd birthday.   HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA, WE ALL LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL BLESSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday around 12:15 pm I went to the school where my mom works.  I got to help her with her class as a volunteer.  It was a lot of fun, all the kids were nice to me but now I know why my mom is so tired when she comes home every day.  I told one of the girls to go wash her hands because she had glue all over her finger, so she decided to just sick her finger in her mouth and eat the glue.  I made her wash her hands and mouth anyway, and thankfully the glue is nontoxic.  One little boy was supposed to glue three toothpicks on his paper, of course he is supposed to use as little glue as possible.  He asked me to come and help him and he had a HUGE puddle of glue all over his paper.  I think mom just whipped it off.  At home mom has always told me about her students and it was so neat meeting them in person.  Fortunately for me the really bad child left before I got there.  I hope to go back again because it is fun and it counts for school credit in Elementary Internship.  Anyway, I need to go do my chores.  I’ll talk to you all later.

God bless

Love,

Hannah

• Oct. 8, 2008 - Simple Woman's Daybook and a Tag

Posted By Hannah in Fun
For Today… October 6, 2008.

Outside my Window… The sun is just barely peeking out. It feels chilly too….

I am thinking… about everything I have and need to do these next few days. Along with taking care of my sick sister Zoe (8) and my sick Daddy.

From the learning rooms… just finished a template and need to make another one also!

I am thankful for… everything God has blessed me with....

From the kitchen… nada! But I can tell you after I am done here, I am going to get some breakfast!

I am wearing… My tye-dye shirt with my gray, pink, yellow and blue striped pajama pants. It’s a crazy combo, but they are SO comfy! Kinda wishing I had a robe right about now also.

I am reading… The Longing by Beverly Lewis

I am hoping praying… For my dear friend and her family, my family and extended family, friends, and that I can be ready to face the cold of winter, because I know its coming!

I am creating… I am itching to sew something! Have any ideas?? I am also about to make a template.

I am hearing… The boys playing with Mamma and Daddy sleeping on the sofa.

Around the house… cleaning up all the stuff we didn’t do over the weekend. (We had a really busy weekend!)

One of my favorite things… Playing with and enjoying my brothers while they are still little.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… School, start on a template, see that Zoe and Dad gets better (and the rest of us doesn’t come down with it), and that’s about it.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
There are no good ones at the time....
