Are we moving?
Well, it's been another crazy week of trying to pull things together around here to prepare to sell our house and move a bit east (15-20 miles maybe). Anyway, I knew I was a crazy home-schooling bibliophile, but I had no idea just how many books we had! I knew they all existed just not how huge the pile would be. I think I packed over 20 file-sized boxes of books this week - that may be an understatement on our grand total, because I had already packed 8-10 before that. Oh my goodness! I just LOVE books, but am keenly aware when I have to touch them all that I do not actually love every single book that I own. Hmmmm.
More hmmmmm. Still pondering that one.
I was trying to be "smart" about how I organized the home-schooling materials, but when I maxed out the perfectly organized and labeled boxes, then moved on to the second round of boxes and now still have stuff galore, well, I'm getting to the point where I am thinking about pitching even the perfectly good things just to get finished. Ugh!
I suppose we will get most of the final "junk" dealt with over the weekend and then be ready to talk to someone about purchasing new floor coverings - some carpet, some tile - and MAYBE (???) some hardwoods? Who knows. Still trying to discern the best choices to bless the next owners and not kill our own wallet!
Guess that is it for me this morning. All I can say is whew! ;D |

Fun in the sun!
Today was fun. Several other moms and I took our kids to the water park. We got lots of families in our home-school group and our moms email group (a blend of home-schoolers and non-home-schoolers) to buy season passes so we could play for "free" whenever we wanted to get out of the house. Today was HOT - supposed to go over 100 degrees. So, this was just the right fun for today.
Each of my kids has their little routine at the water park - the oldest vaccilates between riding slides and laying out (it also depends on which of her friends is there that day), the next daughter does everything - some of it alone and some of it with friends - doesn't matter to her, she just enjoys being there! Then the boys - the older one likes to do the "river" with his friends or ride the Hawaiian Half Pipe - a two-person tube slide, or any slide really. The little one just likes to play on the playground (think a crazy McDonald's with 6 water slides and water spraying and dumping all over the place - it's amazing! He also likes the wave pool. As for me, i prefer to do NOTHING if possible (lol) or walk around and around the "lazy" river - which is probably the best exercise out there. Some days we walk that river 6-8 times, sometimes more! Today - we lapped it about 4 times, I think. Lots of good mama talk while we walk - occasionally toting a toddler or baby - ours or someone else's - and enjoying the cool wet fellowship!
Today we took our lunches in the big cooler. Nice to not drop a load of money buying the park food. Last week, I treated them to the lunches at the park because I had coupons for it (buy one lunch combo get one free). So for a whopping $8 that I would normally pay for the pizza combo (pizza, breadsticks and drink - ouch!), we got 2 for that price. Seemed like a good deal, but only with the coupon!
If you know me personally, you might find this funny - I got my toenails polished bright pink today! That's almost unheard of - I usually wear the faintest color I can find, so my toenails look nice but aren't "begging for attention". But I got talked into a bright color today, so I'm making the most of it and trying to adjust! It's a little loud, but looks nice enough. We'll see how long I can take it before I take it off and go back to beige or something!
Guess that's it for now - got one to get off to basketball practice with her daddy and 3 others to feed and get to bed early for a change - we played too hard out there today! Hope daddy gets home soon - he had a long drive home today (over an hour and a half!).
Hope you are having a blessed day and walking in the favor and love of the Lord! |

Old picture of our family
Well, I looked and looked for a picture of all 6 of us - with a small enough file size to upload onto here. This was the best I could find - hey, at least it has us all in it! This was Thanksgiving 2006 at my parents' house. We're all a good bit older than this now! ;D Nicole is 14 now, Susannah is 10 now, Timothy is 8 now (and will be 9 in September 08) and Jonathan just turned 4. Don't ask how old the parents are! :D I'm reaching a milestone this year...
At least this should show on the front page for a while - let's hope. I'm not a genius blogger yet, so I still have a few things too learn (I was going to say "thingies" but I don't think that is a high-tech enough word!) LOL
Have a superb day!

Summer Fun
Well, after a much-too-long hiatus from posting on here, I'm back! :)
Today was supposed to be garage sale day. But we got overheated and under-shopped by around 10am, so we bailed out! Not a good return on the investment of our time, but a learning experience. I'm definitely back to the "give it away" mode because that was frustrating beyond belief!
We are supposed to be summer-home-schooling, but we are also trying to pack up our house to move closer to our church and HS friends and hubby's work, so it's been slow going, to say the least.
If you've stopped by to read blog entries, then thanks for that! Hope you are having a blessed day!

A new day
Well, it's a new day! (Isn't it always?!?!) For us, it's another in a series of ever-changing days. For the last two weeks our school schedule has been somewhat disrupted due to staying up super-late and starting each morning super-late. We are still getting lessons accomplished, but the times are weirder than usual. However, I'm glad you stopped by and hope that you will enjoy a little bit of SunShine with us!
Today is a "home" day - meaning nobody is expecting anything from me outside my house during the school day. That is relatively unusual. We have almost 3 weeks until our co-op starts; softball practices don't start until next week; and no other lessons or lunches away from home.
For me, the "new day" includes me blogging for the first time. I facilitate an email group for moms and another one for our home-school group, so I'm not new to writing (at length) about a variety of topics, but at posting them for all to see on a blog, well, that is the new part!
If we haven't met before, I'm looking forward to getting to know you through this venue. I'm married (15 years now) to Steve, my best friend and true partner in every sense of the word. We have four fascinating children - Nicole 12, Susannah 8, Timothy 7, Jonathan 2. We have been home-schooling since Nicole was 4 and haven't looked back since. It has been a joy and the highlight of our lives thus far.
In addition to home-schooling, we serve in our local church, where we oversee the Altar Team (prayer ministry) and Free Indeed ministry (how to walk in the Freedom that Christ bought for you). We also lead the home-school group in our church and I coordinate our co-op enrichment classes for 10 weeks each semester. Somehow, we find time to work with our junior high youth and to pray on the healing teams when we get a chance. :)
I suppose I can bore you with the details of life another day - there is always another day! For today, I need to put my energy into getting the kids through with math and on to learning about the battle of Little Big Horn and the Arrest and Trial of Paul the Apostle. Just some light reading (ha ha). Once the kids get settled into their groove and the little one gets down for his nap, I have to put some energy into preparing for this weekend's Free Indeed seminar.
Comment on my blog and send me a link to yours!
Blessings,

About Me
We love Jesus and adore each other! We are probably an eclectic home-schooling family - if that means that we pick and choose our curriculum to suit our needs instead of buying the box and we utilize the "mommy's in charge and keeps us all doing what we love and learning at the same time" family management technique!
