Monday, October 9, 2006 - Favorite Childhood Books
I was so thrilled to see that one of my favorite out-of-print childhood books has been republished. I used to love Miss Suzy by Miriam Young, and now Purple House Press is reprinting it! Yea! This week I read my original book, from 1973 (EEK!), to my girls as we did a unit from Homeschool Helper. It was so fun!

So what was your favorite childhood book? Have you shared it with your children yet?

My very very absolute favorite book was a Little Golden Book called "Little Mommy." Have you ever heard of it? It's a sweet, little bookwith adorable illustrations about a girls' day playing pretend Mommy and it's in poem form. It starts like this: This is my house, and I am the Mommy; my children are Annabelle, Betsy and Bonny. They are good little girls and do just as I say; I put on their coats and they go out to play." It celebrates mommyhood and traditional roles, which I love too! Hope you can read it someday to some little girl or even to yourself. My copy is tattered, and I'd love to have one for each of my daughters. They're rare I think.
