Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - Bible Quilt - Martha

This block is simply called "Martha". I'm definitely not a Martha. I spend way more time pondering, praying, and creating in my head than actually doing. I wish I had a little more Martha in me. I chose these fabrics because I picture Martha flittering around busily, like the butterflies in the background. The red (it looks more pink in the scan, but it is red) is for the death of her brother, Lazarus, and the miracle Martha witnessed. The purples and oranges are complete opposites, like Martha and me.

It is so funny. I would have considered myself a Martha when I was single, nice income and no kids. Everything had to be just right ~ only I paid other people to do it! I didn't even decorate my own home. Now that I am a mom with kids.... I am definitely not a Martha. I have big ambitions, but I mostly do emergency cleaning and cook in a crock pot. :o(

Your quilt square is great as usual. I love the symbolism.
