• Back to school... - Aug. 23, 2006

My favorite part of going back to school when I was growing up was getting a new box of crayons. Maybe it was the creative side of me coming out, but I loved the box of 64 infinate possibilities. In fact, I got mad when my mother didn't buy me crayons one year because she figured I was too old for them. I used crayons all the way through highschool!

Since I loved school I didn't really mind back to school. In fact, back to school also meant that my favorite time of the year was beginning. Fall ushered in my favorite styles (I love/d wearing jackets, sweaters), my birthday (Nov 15th!) and the start of the holiday season.

This year I'm not in school anymore, but I have a new box of markers in my messanger bag and am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life - horray for fall!

• Blogging Sites.... - May. 19, 2006

Since I sometimes get asked "where" should I blog questions, I want to do a review of each of the blogger services I've used and what I like/don't like about them.

So far I've used:

Homeschoolblogger
Xanga
Livejournal
Blogcharm
Blogspot
Wordpress
Myspace

Are there more I'm forgetting?

• Life before the internet... - May. 16, 2006

I was talking to my friend at work (Natalie) the other night about life before the internet. It's hard to imagine that over 10 years ago I didn't have an internet connection. Didn't chat online. Didn't blog. Didn't google!

Oh my.

Seriously though, life with the internet obviously is a mixed bag. As one of my commentors pointed out yesterday - I fear for the safety of books. I adore books, I read them by the truckload and I'd hate for actual books to ever be "ancient history".

I also fear about letter writing skills. I have to still write my grandmother in Colorado (she doesn't have a computer) and I am reminded how many letters I used to write....

Yet, I wouldn't give up the ability to email all of my family and get responses the same day. I feel closer to them that way. I love instant messaging with my dad almost every day (he's in California) and being able to talk to school friends through Myspace and Xanga.

What about you? Life before internet and life after... what would you give up.. what would you keep?

About Me []

Blogging is my only addiction. Well, blogging and new books. I was homeschooled from K-12. I have an overactive imagination, read a page a minute and type 75 wmp. I've worked with kids since I was 13 and love writing about education issues. I'm an unpaid intern with MINDspriting. I steal paperclips to make up for the lack of a check.
