Last Sunday was such a great day. My Grandparents were so excited that we got to have a Thanksgiving dinner together. They were even more excited when they found out that we were having a 65th Wedding Anniversary party for them. My Grandmother was moved to tears when friends and family walked through the door. We gave them their family album. They so enjoyed it!! So did everyone else!! Everyone had fun looking at the old pics, and remembering the times. It was a special event to be a part of. I even finished my Grandpa’s Service Album. I was up til 6:30am that morning doing it, but it was finished in time for me to get 3 hours of sleep!! He was so glad that I took the time to do that for him, but it is my history. Doing these albums brings us closer to our great grandparents. Let’s us get to know their lives and the things that are important to them. It is a honor to do them to be able to accomplish the albums for them!!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! The food was good, the fellowship was good, the day was great!! We did have a minor mishap, we had a bad turkey. Luckily Mom had bought a turkey breast at the store the day before, so Dad just had to grab some legs and wings. But besides that it was SUPER!! We didn't cook much food, as we don't have much refrigerator space, so most of the leftovers are gone already. Except for the Cranberry Fluff, Cheesecake, and the pies that Alatariel made. After we ate (4:30pm) and finished taking care of the table(6pm), Dad, Eric, Isaac, and Caleb went upstairs to watch the Cowboys game.
Mom, Alatariel, Tigerlily, Hannah, and I watched Little Women. It was a great fellowship as we all cried at a few parts!!
Around 8pm we watched Spider-Man 2, and recorded SMALLVILLE(rerun). Then we sent the Littles to bed, and watched tv.
It was a good Thanksgiving
Here are the recipes for the desserts I listed above:
Cranberry Fluff
2 cups raw chopped cranberries 3/4 cup natural sugar 3 cups mini marshmallows 1/2 chopped pineapple 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1 8oz. carton of Cool Whip
Combine cranberries, sugar, marshmallows and pineapple. Chill over nite. Add walnuts and Cool Whip. Chill before serving. YUM!!
This is my Great Grandmother’s own Cheese Cake recipe.
Great Grandma’s Walters Cheese Cake
1 8oz box of cream cheese 1/2 cup of natural sugar 2 teaspoons of vanilla 1/3 cup of sour cream 1 8oz carton of Cool Whip 1 Graham Cracker crust
Mix cream cheese and sugar well, getting chunks out. Add vanilla and sour cream to cream cheese and sugar. Add Cool Whip. Put in crust.
Crust
1 cup graham crackers smashed 1/4 cup of melted butter
Mix and pressed to pie plate.
There you have them. My fav desserts!!
I finally finished the CHRISTmas gifts that I talked about last week!! They turned out soo GREAT!! I can't wait to give them out!!
I have CHRISTmas gifts for Mom, Tigerlily, and Hannah.
