Moses’ Biography
(Taken from the TruthQuest Inductive Student Bible)
As I stand over the place where I disputed with the devil over the body of Moses,(Jude 1:9) I have to admit that my Sovereign still amazes me with kinds of humans He chooses to use in His service. As the archangel of the Lord, I don’t put up with a lot of nonsense from anybody. These humans are forever blessed that my Sovereign displays such grace and mercy to them. Moses’ life is filled with examples of this grace and mercy. I was there when Moses, the Hebrew infant, was born into slavery, placed in a papyrus basket, and set among the bulrushes in the Nile River near the Egyptian capital, Memphis. I saw to it that Pharaoh’s daughter found the basket and adopted him, treating him as her own and raising him with all he privileges granted with the Egyptian royalty. I was also there years later when the young Moses killed an Egyptian for abusing an Israelite. I watched him bury the man secretly in the sand. I couldn’t help but wonder, My Sovereign, are You sure this is the man You still choose to free your people from slavery? He was sure—but before that day could occur, I was instructed to put the man through forty years of desert hardship. That’s where Moses fled after his murder was made known. Eventually, My Sovereign made this Moses into the leader of the Hebrews, using him to bring ten plagues on Egypt and forcing the release of the Sovereign’s Chosen People. Through this man the Sovereign gave His commands to the world—commands which Israel almost instantly broke. Yet He shows them both grace and mercy! It amazes me. What my Sovereign now requires with this man’s body I can only guess at—but I will refrain. I am Michael, the archangel, and I do not question my Sovereign’s orders. I still cannot understand how these humans dare to do so. Sincerely -Michael
