This Article was published in My Fillies, Estrella and Dulcy
I just can’t believe I am a horse owner!! It is truly a miracle from God. I am still not sure that I quite realize it, but it is just so awesome going to the barn and having 2 horses in there.
Friday nite, around 11pm I was out in the barn putting up gates to the stalls and doing whatever else I needed to do. We were out there til about 1am. I was so tired and stinky. There was a fire going, and I smelled like smoke. So I had to come in and take a shower b/c I didn’t want to go to bed smelling like a bonfire. So I went to bed around 2am.
Yesterday around 11am, I went out to the barn to finish whatever and we had to redo two of the stall door, so we did that and were finishing, when around 2pm, Estrella and Dalcy got there.
We put them in the barn and I took care of the rest of the payment and such. Then Jocelyn brought Isaac down to see them and he was so excited!! So I took them outside to get to know their surroundings and they really enjoyed being able to graze. They had to paw the snow a bit, but they liked being outside. Estrella is scared of the trains. When one came by she bolted around the yard, then she came to me and I had to calm her. It was so funny seeing her running around the yard. Then Estrella and Dalcy started chasing each other around. It was so cool to see!!
Then I went to the house and asked Caleb if he had seen what was down in the barn. Then he ran to the window and saw the horses, he was so excited!! I asked him if he wanted to go see them and he went and found his shoes and coat. So I put them on him and took him out. When he saw them up close, he was the most ecstatic baby I have ever seen. I took him up to Dalcy, she is gentler, and he petted her, and then I put him on her back. He got the BIGGEST smile on his face. It was so great to see!!
So even though there was things that needed to be finished, Mom let me play with them and get to know me. I enlisted the help of Eric and Hannah to help me get straw into their stalls. We were going to do sawdust, but I didn’t get to find any yet.
We finished the gates and such later. We were out til 9:30pm. Then I came in and took a shower and got cleaned up. I was so sore!! So I went upstairs to rest and put my feet up. We sat there til about 2am, and then Jocelyn and I went to check on Chloe the goat. We figured she would kid b/c it was the coldest nite of the year, and it was raining sleet and everything was iced. So we slipped and slid our way down to the barn. I am not going to tell what happened afterward, b/c I don’t think Jocelyn would want me to. But something exciting happened. Anyway, I didn’t end up getting to bed til 5am, and that was only cause Caleb woke up and I had to come up to the house and put him to sleep.
So I woke up very, very tired, but very, very, HAPPY. I have horses in the barn!! I had Rachel and Eric feed and water the horse this morning b/c I just could not get down there to do it, b/c I was SOO very tired and they were already down there. So I have to go check on them soon.
I am so thankful that God provided the funds for getting them, getting the lumber and tools, and everything I needed for them.
They are so very sweet. Estrella is a little feisty, but she is warming up to me and comes to me and is settling down a bit.
I can’t wait to get to know them more and take care of them. When my Grandma comes up in April and she brings her tack, I am going to have her go with me to TSC and get another set of tack for Dalcy. I am kinda still learning and am not quite sure what I will need, but she will, so I thought it would be a great idea to let her help me get what I need.
OH JOY!! I am still not sure that this is for real!! But it is and I am just so thankful!!
And since you guys and gals were no help in helping me get a name picked out for my homestead blog, I am still at a loss!! So I am still enlisting your help for ideas of names!!
It is truly a gift from God that I have these horses, and I am just so thankful for him providing them. I am also so thankful for Mom and Dad allowing me to get them.
I can’t wait to ride them!! It will be so fun. Oh I can't believe it!! If anyone is in the Fort Wayne, IN way this summer, lmk and I can get you a horse ride!! LOL!!
Oh I am so happy...I said I would probably be the happiest girl on the planet, and I think I am!!
P.S. Go check out HomeSchoolHighLites blog...Chloe redid it!! It looks really elegant, I think.
God Bless and Keep You and Yours!! Take Care!!
Love

CONGRATS on the horses! That is enormously exciting! You've definitely worked hard getting things ready...I think I'm tired from reading about your hard work.
It cracks me up that you're talking about snow and ice, though. I totally cannot relate to that. The kids are outside right now eating popsicles and riding their bikes in the bright sunshine! It's close to 80 here in my part of Houston! :-)
Enjoy your horses and get some rest.
By the way, you know if I meet you at the barndance I am totally going to be expecting you with blue tights and a red cape like Superman!!! hehehee...
Love,
Marsha

February 25, 2007 at 4:48 PM...Regarding dressing up...

...I am actually half-Korean so it would be weird for me to wear a Japanese kimono! LOL BUT I am wearing a traditional Korean dress to my mom's b-day party this coming Saturday. She's turning 60 and that is a huge deal in the Korean culture-- right up with the 100 days old celebration.
*sigh* But dressing up is ALWAYS fun...so I hope you will dress up for the shindig in October-- I don't want to be the only one! Maybe Coie will make you a dress? You can trade her goat tips (as in advice, not a cut of meat!) for a nice dancing dress. :-)

Congrats on the horses! And your favicon looks really good, too. It's a bit dark on my monitor, but that just may be my color and brightness settings. At any rate, I'm glad the code made sense to you and helped! :)
Blessings on you and your new horses!!

What's my thought? *thinks* lol...
It's okay if you dont do tags, it isn't required after all. I don't really care one wa or the other wether you do it. Besides, it's always so hard to think up answers for it!
Have A Good Week!!

I saw you up on my "Fellow Friends" list, and I thought I would go visit your blog. Wow, I was impressed! You did a good job! I was interested in your "One Night With the King" post as my parents had watched that very recently and not liked it at all. I was asking Mommy several times if "such-and-such" was in the movie. She said "yes" to every one. Yikes. You are right, it did "look" good, but from what I heard from you?--"Ewww!"
Yes, I would like to add you. Why do you like Superman so much? Do you like all the movies in your sidebar a lot? Or are they just there for people to see? I hope to get to know you better in the future. Oh, by the way, thank you for adding me on your sidebar!
God Bless You and Yours!
Warmly,
Mariel

I can only imagine how excited you must be. That is too cool. When I was young I always wanted a horse of my own, but wasn't able to have one.
About your question on my blog. I will keep my contest open for at least another week fr any last minute entries. I am so glad you are going to enter a haiku and one about horses in winter would be fine or whatever you come up with.

Thanks, a lot of people say I look like her. Which is wierd, cause I always looked like my dad when I was younger....LOL!
I want to see pictures of your horses! I'm really happy for you. :) My sister loves horses--she thinks she's going to be a cowgirl when she grows up!

Congrats on getting your horses!! I hope you have lots of fun with them. :-)
I passed my test today! Yay. I missed blogging and commenting though (didn't have time for it what with studying). Now I feel like I have lots of catching up to do. Lol.
