Horses... Horses... and more Horses...

This Article was published in My Fillies, Estrella and Dulcy

Ok....so I have had some help now in getting a name picked out for a homestead blog. Below are the suggestions from some of the readers, and I like some of them. But it didn't seem like any of them stood out too much, except for mine and Jocelyn's. Mandy had some good suggestions though.

Also please keep Estrella in your prayers. She has been limping, has a runny nose and been breathing a bit raspy. None of these symptons mean anything good, so I have been stressed a little.
I am having a vet come out on Friday to check her and make sure she is good. I might just be making something out of nothing, but I would rather be safe than sorry. And with the recent goat troubles, there is no way I want to have a sick horse. They go downhill fast. I called the former owner and she thinks she just pulled a muscle or something, so it is prob nothing.
I have blanketed her and stalled her. I walked her out today to eat in the pasture a bit, and she LOVED it!! She doesn't like to be in her stall all the time.

Both Estrella and Dulcy are now in heat. It scared meon Sunday, when I went down to the pasture and there was a pile of reddish orange liquid. No one had dumped anything from the goat pen, so I was really worried. I called Grandma and she thought they just might have gone into heat. Sure enough they had.

I have finally gotten my Storey's Guide to Raising Horses. It has been really helpful. I think these Storey's books are really good. Jocelyn has the Goat one and Mom is getting the Poultry one. They have a lot of great info in them. I would recommend getting a Storey's if you have an animal. They have guides for: Beef Cattle, Llamas, Pigs, Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Sheep, Turkeys, and Poultry.

Yeah, my biceps are really sore, and are getting really big!! It is funny!! I have to carry buckets of water down to the barn everyday at least twice, so carrying them makes my arms get bigger.

I found out that I could actually ride them now. Shellie said that it would prob be a good idea to ride then bareback first, so they are used to the weight, and so we find our balance on them. Joc will be really happy. She has been bugging me about riding them bareback, cause the Elves ride bareback and she thinks she is one of them. Crazy, I know!! I am living with a girl who thinks she is an Elf. Help me!! It is extremely SCARY sometimes living with her.

I know you are thinking, "Another Horse post!!". Well sorry horses have kinda taken over!! Don't worry, I plan to have a homestead blog by Sat. and then you can have the normal posts back.

Ok...so here are the Homestead Blog name suggestions. I thought about having a contest to see who could come up with the best name, but I have no idea what to give away, so I guess I can't have a contest. Unless you can come up with a good prize and a name!!
I would the name to have Super in it, but if I can't find a good enough name with it then I won't use it. Some of mine are lame, I know, but I am at a loss. Mom and Jocelyn don't really care for any of mine. The asterisk marked are my favs.

Hi, my name is Nikki. I'm a new blogger. I think it's awesome that you have horses! You can stop by my blog sometime if you want, I don't really have anything up yet, but I hope to soon! I really enjoy reading your blog. And no, the horse thing is not getting old. I hope your horse gets better soon! I'll pray for her.

Ok, Now I've got it on Jocelyn, she's an elf that goes around singing "won't you be my neighbor" I'm going to have to comment on her blog about that. Lol, just as long as you girls don't get tired of my teasing! I have to admit that I was the 1700th comment on Jocelyn’s blog, so I'm a contributor to Jocelyn taking all the comments. Lol, looking forward to seeing your fiction story!

It’s LATIN! LOL!

When you go to the site, click on Information & Education to view the video.
Yes, cookie dough is my favorite! I like Rocky Road and Cookies ‘n Cream too.

I’m not sure when or where but I’ll post on it when I get the details (I think it’s closer to IN ‘cause the Badgleys might come).

Both you and your sister are pretty good with HTML.
Why don’t you have a site?
You could share one and put all your family pictures on it!
Or maybe design templates on there and sell them!
There are endless things you can do with your own site!

Yes, Mainekid1 is the only one of my children that have blogs. My oldest is in college and is much too busy, my second oldest really hates to write and the two younger are just too young. They don't write yet, and I haven't had the time to help them write much. We read a lot.

I will be rereading all the entries over the next few days and try to post the winners by Friday.

Also , I have been trying to come up with a name for your homestead blog but am coming up blank right now. I think you should include something about your beliefs in your name like Riding for Jesus, or SuperJesusFreak, or I don't know...

Thanks for the comment!
LOL Jocelyn thinks she's an Elf. When she starts wearing fake pointy ears and eating lembas, that's when you may need to take her someplace. :D

LOL I know what you mean about strong arms. I have to carry buckets of water to water our chickens every day, and it's a very good way to get big arms! *grin*

Of course then I go to town and see all these skinny mini girls who couldn't lift a 50 pound bag of feed to save their life..... and I feel totally 'over-strong'. *sigh* The hardships of being a farm girl and a milk maid. LOL

She thinks she's an elf? LOL

I'm so happy for you having your horses!!

Hugs,
Becca

I was on the homeschool blogger home page and I scrolled down to the "Latest Entries" section and saw your post "Bashes and Horses and Puppies, Oh My, and Guitars and Licenses, Oh My!!". I adore horses and I have always wanted one, so I clicked on it. And that is how I found your blog. I would have said something earlier, but I am really, really shy. My friend Sharla88 finally talked me into talking to other people on here. So instead of leaving my 10 favorite bloggers on the tag blank, I decided to take Sharla88's advice and tag my favorites. And I am glad I did, because I have met some of the sweetest people on here, including you. Your fillies are absolutely gorgeous. I didn't know that your sister created that blog, that is really funny!! I hope to get to know you better!!
God Bless and Ciao,
Sara.

What I Believe

I am a Biblical Believer and don’t conform to the denominations of today’s world. I am a non-fiction Believer. That means that God has already written my life story and I don’t want to change it by doing what I want, but follow it perfectly by His Word and Guidance. I will follow that plan alone. I will not make my own plans, but follow where He leads me.
I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and love Him as my Savior. I want to live wholly for Him and give my everything to Him.
I believe in Jesus Christ. That He is the Only Son of God. That He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father unless through Jesus Christ.
I believe Jesus Christ was beaten, crucified, and rose again in three days. I believe that He died for my sins, and washed them away. I believe that He is coming back for his people some day soon.
I believe that a marriage consists of a MAN and a WOMAN. I believe that the husband should be the head of the household and that all decisions lie ultimately with him. I believe that a woman should be a keeper of her home. I believe she does not need to get a job outside of her home and out of the authority of her husband.
I believe in a full quiver, and that God will give me the desires of my heart. I believe that the woman should stay home and raise her children in the LORD.
I am praying and waiting for God to bring the man of my dreams. I can’t wait to get married and have my own family. I am excited that I can be a stay at home mom and keep my home. I want to be a Homemaker and make my home to be a haven for my family to learn to be Biblical and Godly.
I hope to be an encouragement and teach Biblical things to all who stop by my blog and be encouraged and learn from others.
