Random Things This Week!!

This Article was published in HSB Friends, News and FUN Stuff

Ok...here are some random things I have going on...
Make sure you go over tomorrow to Paulie’s and tell him Happy 17th Birthday!!
Here is my birthday wish for him:
HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY, PAULIE!!
Hope you have fun packing!! No, I hope you have a wonderful, fun-filled, love and family filled day.

Ok...well this week has been better!! My head is feeling alot better and I just have a sun on it, as Jocelyn called my bruise.

I didn’t have time this week to type up a good post, so you all are left with this one...
I obviously didn’t win the TOS Short Story Contest, or ya’ll would have heard about it. You can be sure!!
I have decided to post my story here. I would like to write more, but I just am not creative enough. I don’t know where I could go from it.
So without further adieu, here it is:

Hallelujah, She’s a Stay At Home Mom
by
Amanda Dixon
July 30, 2006

Today was the day. Lara had decided she had had enough. Her parents were too controlling for her. She had been in enough trouble throughout her life. She had caused her family enough pain and shame. She couldn’t stop making wrong choices. Lara was running away.
Two weeks prior her parents had found her secret email. She sat there for three hours silently as they asked her why and tried to figure out what was going on, and take it all in. Things were not as they thought. All she could think was, “How could I have been so careless? Why didn’t I try harder not to get caught? I can’t believe this is happening again. I promised myself it wouldn’t happen.” She knew this time the punishment would be very harsh.
Lara had been in this position before. About two years earlier, Lara’s parents had found out she had been sending anonymous letters to a boy.  Now she had betrayed them again. She let their trust in her fall.
Lara was tired of being in trouble. She didn’t believe what her parents did. She was tired of being in trouble for that, so she was leaving. Her parents wouldn’t let her live a “normal” teenage life. Hang out with her friends, wear makeup, drive, have a boyfriend and get a job, stuff like that.
So early in the morning with bags packed she hit the road. This was going to be her life. No parents to tell her what to do, she would do what she wanted, believe what she wanted. She really didn’t care about anything anymore.
She had some money saved up, so she decided she would get a hotel room til she could get a job and afford an apartment. She had this all mapped out.
So she got a hotel room and started unpacking her bags, when there was a knock at the door. Being leery of who it was, she went to the window instead of the door. She was smart enough to know what to do; she watched crime shows. Standing there was an older man who reminded Lara of her grandpa. A very gentle looking man in his middle sixties.
He said, “Hi! My name is Jed Lock. I was wondering if I could talk to you about Life Insurance.”
Lara was getting suspicious of him, but something told her to say,"yes".
He said, “ Thank you. Its very important”
“Have you heard about his wonderful offer? It's something you definitely need.
It's always been waiting for you. Grab it while you can before your time is up.
What is it you ask? It's Life Insurance. It's not the same old one you get anywhere.
It's unique. No monthly payments. No hidden fees. It's FREE! Forever!
And the benefits are too numerous to name. It not only covers your life now, but for all eternity. It covers both physical & spiritual life.
Now you may ask: "Who is the owner & What is the name of it?"
The owner is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The name of it is Forgiveness.
The owner gave everything he had to make this Life Insurance available for you.
What must you do to receive this offer? Go to your knees right now.
Call out to the owner and say, "I'm a sinner", "Save me", "I believe in you", "I want to live for you" "I love you"
And BAM you are accepted. No money involved.
There is also manual written by the owner. It has all the answers to the questions you have about this unique Life Insurance.
So don't delay. It's here for eternity, but you aren't.
Today could be your last or not, but you will never know.
All you need to know is the owner loves you, and wants to cover you now with his Life Insurance.”

Lara, being emotionally drained from keeping everything inside, started bawling. She didn’t talk to anyone in her family about her feelings inside. She didn’t believe the same things they did. She kept everything to herself all the time. No one knew the “real Lara”.
She had been a so-called Christian her whole teenage life. When she was younger, she truly had tried to do what the Bible said. But for the past year or so, she had been wearing a spiritual mask. She hadn’t really cared about what her parents told her. She wanted to flirt with guys, be popular, be what her friends thought was cool. She listened to secular music, watched movies and shows that weren’t appropriate. She wanted to do what she wanted and she didn’t care what God and her parents said. And now she had this total stranger just happen at her hotel room door and tell her this. She cried out to God. Lara, in her heart, didn’t really want to go down this path that she was on.
Lara, truly feeling this Mr. Lock was a Godsend, asked him to pray for her, which he did. When they were finished, Mr. Lock asked what she was doing here at this hotel by herself. She told him everything and when she was done she felt 5 years younger. She felt like the little girl that was standing in the church pew singing songs to her Jesus, & raising her hands to Him.
Mr. Lock told her that he was just driving by, praying, when he felt lead by the Spirit to stop here and knock on Lara’s door. He gave her a Bible and asked her if she would like him to take her home. She packed her bags back up and Mr. Lock drover Lara home. Before Lara got out she asked Mr. Lock to pray with her. When they were finished, she thanked Mr. Lock that he had listened to the spirit. When she went in nobody was up, so Lara went to her room and unpacked her things. Then she fell on her bed and poured out everything to God. She had already rededicated her life to him, so now she was apologizing for everything she had done. When she was finished, she went downstairs. She would try her best to do what she was supposed.
So months went by and Lara only tried half heartedly to do what she was supposed too. Things were a little better, but no the way they should be. January and February were really bad months for Lara. It seemed Lara and her mother couldn’t stop fighting about everything. It got so bad, her mom had told her to leave. She was really done with trying. She had done as much as she wanted to and it didn’t change anything.  Lara was tired of serving her punishment. She was at the point of where she really didn’t care about anything anymore. She was at the same place she was when she had left before.
She was at war with herself. She wanted to leave, but she knew that it wasn’t the right thing to do. Yet again, Lara made the wrong choice. She decided she was leaving and this time for good, but she wasn’t sure when. So weeks went by and she was still at home. She was kinda scared to leave. Scared of what the consequences would be if she left for good. Scared of making the wrong decisions while gone.
Lara was an avid reader and she needed a good book to read. She went to the bookshelf and looked and looked but nothing caught her attention. Then she saw “Stepping Heavenward”, and she started reading it. She had read it before, but it was just a story to her, but this time was different. As she read it, her mind was open to what the Lord had been trying to tell her. She began to see things in a different light. In her heart, Lara wanted to be the woman God had created her to be.
In the middle of the book, she read something that she had never realized. She stopped and cried out to God. She prayed for His will to be done in her life. She prayed for her future husband, her family, her friends, and finally herself. From that day on, Lara vowed that she wouldn’t run away again and she would let God be in charge of her life. She would stay and do her best this time no matter what. She knew she had a lot to change in her life. She had made a mess of everything, but with God’s help, they would be able to make it right.
Now Lara was a stay at home mom, homekeeper, homeschooler, and wife to the man God picked for her, Tom. She has two boys, Clark-18 and Ryan-17, and a girl named Chloe- 16. Everyday she rebuked the curse of rebellion in her family.
Now she sat at Chloe’s friend’s funeral remembering that time in her life.
Chloe and Lana had been best friends since they were little. Both had grown up in the admonition of the Lord, and now Lana was with Him.
Lana hadn’t wanted to live under her parent’s rules and had run away. She was found dead in the woods. Lana was the same age as Lara when she had left. Now Lara found herself holding her daughter as they wept together over her lost friend. Lana was like a second daughter to Tom and Lara and a sister to Chloe.
All the memories came back to Lara like a wave over the ocean. All she was thinking was, “That could’ve been me.” She held Chloe even closer.
She sent up a prayer of thanks to God for sending Mr. Lock to her that day. She often wondered what happened to him.
Lara and Chloe went home with heavy hearts after Lana had been laid to rest.
When they got home, Lara wanted to make sure Chloe was ok about what had happened. She asked her if she understood.
Chloe asked, “Why did God let this happen to her?”
Lara replied, “God didn’t. When Lana left she took herself out of the protection of God and her Father. She let Satan take over and God is not someone to force someone to do His will. He had no power over it. That is why you must always trust and follow your parents. They are God’s protection over you.”
Chloe, being the girl with wisdom beyond her years, understood what her mom was trying to tell her and she said she would help both her fathers protect her by doing what they said. Chloe’s eyes were opened to what God was trying to teach her through this trial in her life.
When Chloe left to go to her room, Lara went to the bathroom and started thanking and praising God. The curse of rebellion had finally been broken from the women in her family and they were finally released from the bondage of it. Chloe’s great grandmother’s, grandmother’s, and mother’s prayers had been answered.
Oh, what a relief! Chloe would not have the same rebellious spirit that the women in her family had before her. To know that Chloe would not make the same rebellious choices they had made. Although it was lifted, it didn’t mean that Chloe would not be tempted to rebel. It meant she would be tempted more, but she would have the spiritual wisdom and strength to overcome it and come out stronger.
Tom and Lara would make sure to be there to help her when she was attacked. They also wanted to make sure Chloe would know how to handle rebellion so she would be able to teach her children the same thing they taught her. She also had her brothers, Clark and Ryan to watch out for her. They treated Chloe like a princess. She trusted them with everything. Chloe had always been the girl that did what she should do. She was really a wonderful girl.
Lara and Tom were blessed to have the wonderful family that God had entrusted them to raise in His ways. Lara still worried that Satan would try to take her children from her because she knew they were very special to God. She had given them over to God, and she knew in her heart He wouldn’t let anything happen to then unless it be His will.
Lara called her mom to tell her what had happened. Lara said, “I am so glad you kept me home, so that when things like this happen I know what to do. Even when I made living with me so hard. Thank you for putting up with me.”
Lara’s mother replied, “Oh many years I have waited to hear that from you.”
They talked for awhile and then Lara got off the phone to make dinner. After awhile Chloe came down and asked to help.
As Lara and Chloe were making dinner, Chloe said, “I’m glad you stay home with us. I don’t think I could’ve learned that lesson if you didn’t. And I am glad that I have you as my mom.”
Lara teared up. She now knew how her mom felt. She wished she hadn’t been so stubborn and waited so long to tell her mother.
They finished making dinner and Chloe called her dad, Clark and Ryan for dinner.
As Lara sat down and looked around the table, she inwardly praised God for allowing her parents to be able to stay home and teach her. And she also praised God for her husband working so hard that she could stay home.
She prayed that she would become the woman, wife, and mother God had created her to be for her family’s needs.
She wouldn’t give up this position for the best job in the world. She was a stay at home mom, and even though it would be the hardest thing in the world, she was happily overjoyed that she had been chosen to do it. Not every woman would get this awesome opportunity.
Hallelujah! She was a stay at home mom.

That is okay if you can't do the tag. I am curious why your family doesn't allow them though? Can you tell me why or maybe I should ask your mom why? I hope that saying is not true about curiosity killing the cat!!! LOL

Were you trying to graduate at 17? I think that's awesome.
My bro is 18 months older than me to the day. We are close in a way. He bugs me to no end at times though.
Yesterday was strange; today I feel like myself agin. But being sick is the worst thing ever!

I'm supposed to be doing school so I didn't have time to read your short story. But I'm gonna come back and read it soon! Looks good!
Yes, we actually went to both Bush inaugurations. A lot of interesting memories there! The first one it was cold and rainy, and the second we kept getting surrounded by protestors (and trust me, it was bad. I've never heard human beings be meaner to another like I did that day!) But both were amazing, it was such an important part of history. Maybe I should blog about it sometime, with pics! :)
