"A Tribute to My Dad" Contest

This Article was published in Awards, Contests, and Tags

I posted the "What a Girl Wants" post a couple weeks ago, and I don't think everyone got my point. My point was not how horrible of a dad I have or how I don't respect him and honor him. In fact, it had nothing to do with my dad AT ALL. It was about what I feel I need as a daughter. I only shared those facts about my dad to show you what I meant. I cannot share everything that happens in my life. You don't know the whole story, only what I share.

So with that in perspective... I am pleased to announce that Paulie and I are having a contest. A "Tribute to my Dad" contest.

This is an easy contest. You just write a wonderful post about your dad. We are looking for detail and love. We don't just want a "I like my dad" post, we want something that explains why your dad is the best.

The neat part is the prizes. WOW!! You might be featured in next year's Father's Day section. And you get a $10 gift certificate to The Schoolhouse Store. WOW!!

Here are the "contest" rules even though this is NOT officially an HSB contest. It is something Paulie and I are doing as for our dads, because they ARE important and we love them. It is open to anyone 21 and younger who comes across the contest on my blog, Paulie's, Jocelyn's.  10 winners will each receive a $10 gift card (no strings attached and shipping is even free) to the Schoolhouse Store. Five winners may be chosen to appear in a Father's Day tribute (next year) in the pages of TOS Magazine (we may ask you to edit your post down for size/clarity if you win a spot in the magazine). Blog URL may be included as well. Paulie Suarez and I, Amanda Dixon are the judges.

Basically, here are the rules:

- Post an entry entitled, "TRIBUTE TO MY DAD" (you MUST title it this way to qualify as a participant).

- Entry can be as long or short as you wish (the longer ones MAY have a better chance of winning).

- Don't just say what is wonderful about your dad - be detailed! Tell us WHY your dad is as terrific as you say he is.

- Once you have posted your entry, come and comment on both Mine and Paulie's blogs (both of them), giving them the URL where your entry is posted.

- For a better chance of being selected, also post a comment on Jocelyn Dixon's blogs - provide the URL to your entry in those comment sections - IMPORTANT. Jocelyn will be consultant judges.

- 21 years or younger please.

- Contest ends August 15th.

So get your submissions in asap. I will be posting my "Tribute" sometime this next week.

As Always...

I wish I was young enough to participate. I have a pretty great dad! LOL

I hope you know that while I suggested an entry about your Dad's strong points I DID totally understand that you in NO way intended to dishonor your dad. I just thought it would be great to hear more about you dad who is OBVIOUSLY a wonderful man as evidenced by what a GREAT family he has!!!!

This is a wonderful idea. Too bad I am too old to enter. I wrote a tribute to my Dad on Father's Day of last year. He died on September 1. I am so glad I took the opportunity while he was alive to share my heart.

I have not got my prize yet. You emailed me and said it would be sent out shortly. It has been a couple days now. Just wondering if you had forgot to send it out. :)

What I Believe

I am a Biblical Believer and don’t conform to the denominations of today’s world. I am a non-fiction Believer. That means that God has already written my life story and I don’t want to change it by doing what I want, but follow it perfectly by His Word and Guidance. I will follow that plan alone. I will not make my own plans, but follow where He leads me.
I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and love Him as my Savior. I want to live wholly for Him and give my everything to Him.
I believe in Jesus Christ. That He is the Only Son of God. That He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father unless through Jesus Christ.
I believe Jesus Christ was beaten, crucified, and rose again in three days. I believe that He died for my sins, and washed them away. I believe that He is coming back for his people some day soon.
I believe that a marriage consists of a MAN and a WOMAN. I believe that the husband should be the head of the household and that all decisions lie ultimately with him. I believe that a woman should be a keeper of her home. I believe she does not need to get a job outside of her home and out of the authority of her husband.
I believe in a full quiver, and that God will give me the desires of my heart. I believe that the woman should stay home and raise her children in the LORD.
I am praying and waiting for God to bring the man of my dreams. I can’t wait to get married and have my own family. I am excited that I can be a stay at home mom and keep my home. I want to be a Homemaker and make my home to be a haven for my family to learn to be Biblical and Godly.
I hope to be an encouragement and teach Biblical things to all who stop by my blog and be encouraged and learn from others.
