"There's no business like your own business." Oh, sorry... I am in the musical mood. Before I get to why, I just need to say... Jocelyn always manages to get what I want to post posted before me... like with us in the van... and now recently about my really cool idea for a new homeschool thing. So I know she already blogged about it, but I am going to too... since it was my idea.
We went to Wal-Mart last Friday and we were looking at t-shirts and we saw some really funny ones. I found 2 Superman/Supergirl tshirts. I got the Supergirl one yesterday. Its really neat too. The only thing is its green and I am not a green fan. But its really neat anyway, it has roses, and ribbons and it says, "Supergirl, saves the world 24/7". I really like it, and so does Mom.
Ok... that doesn't explain it too well, so I decided to just show you.

We also found a "Highschool Musical" t-shirt. Now I really don't know much about that movie, but I know its plastered all over W-M.
Anyway... I had the funny idea to make a tshirt that says a "Homeschool Musical". LOL!! Get 6 main kids, take a pic of them jumping in the air and put it on a tshirt. That is what was on the front of the 'Highschool Musical" one. So you think it'll sell?? Me either, but it was funny.
So guess what I did on Saturday nite... I had "Saturday Night Fever". I was making dinner and I started a "Homeschool Musical". The first number was "We're Making Dinner." I don't remember the words I used, but it was really hilarious. Ask Mom. She was in the next room laughing her head off. I got Caleb to be in it with me... Jocelyn wouldn't join though. So as the first number was being sung by yours truly, I started dancing around the kitchen and then Caleb started with me. It was really a site to see. Ok, not like I would LET anyone see it. We only actually got as far as the first song... then kinda died off. Its not a very good musical when only one person is in it besides the 2yo. So my dreams of grandeur on the big stage kinda died with that one... But it was funny anyway.
Ok... so what... I am a weirdy!!
So... "There Is No Business Like Your Own Business".
Jocelyn did a post about entrepreneurs there were many we know. Owning your own business is a very good idea. I think it is the way to go.
A couple months ago, I was watching Nightline and they had a special on teens that started their own businesses. They are making alot of money with them too. It was just simple stuff, like handmade jewelry, and shampoos and conditioners that were homemade and healthy. It was really neat to see how they run their businesses too. They showed how the one girl actually making the shampoos and then they showed the 2 sisters making the jewelry. The Shampoo girl had just bought her own office place, so she could mass produce. She has had so many orders she had to get a warehouse. WOW!! That is impressive.
I want to start my own business too. I know that is the best way to go. There are a couple reasons why I want to start my own business is 1.) I want to help my husband. 2.) I want it to be a ministry, not necessarily a job. 3.) I don't want to have a boss telling me what I need to do, and I don't want to go out and get a job.
I have thought of many things I could do... designing templates, making things on Cafepress, selling crafts, making and selling homemade cloth diapers, but it seems everyone is doing that, so I don't think it would be worth it.
Mom and I were talking about starting my own business the other nite. We were going through the things we have done like eBay, which we did really well at, except it takes alot of work and time. We used to sell homeschool books wholesale, and it did pretty well too, but we had some problems with our upline. Mom sells Creative Memories Scrapbooking Supplies, and she used to sell Mary Kay. Those are all fine and dandy, but they require you having to go places and do demonstrations. It is so much nicer, just being able to be home and work.
I already have an awesome friend who has his own business of setting up websites who said he would help me when I start my business.
But "where my heart truly lies" is in telling others about homeschooling and books. I would really like to do something with homeschool books, because I know alot about them. I like going to homeschool conventions. I am pretty good at public speaking, so interacting with people there would be really good.
Mom and I have thought about doing a homeschool help site, where you can have experienced homeschoolers help you with questions and other things. I know moms need encouragement, and when I am older I would like to be an encouragement to other moms. I would like to write things and speak to people about homeschooling.
Being a homeschooler gives me opportunities that most kids don't have. I do things all the time that most kids don't do. I go grocery shopping for a family of 10. Which means I make up the menu and the grocery list, making sure I stay in the budget. I know how to handle multiple situations. I can take care of a household. I have had experience with farm life. There are so many things I know how to do, that there are probably endless possibilities for me.
I know God has a plan for my life, and if He put this desire in my heart, then He will make a way for it to happen.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
As Always...
