A Super Book List

This Article was published in Homeschooling Articles

Mom has a new thing going... again. She is on a roll with memes, carnivals, and neat tags. Her newest one is book lists for different aged children. She has one for 5ish, 10ish, Young Adult, and Family Reading Time.

So I thought I would post the fiction books I have read... well at least as many as I can remember. ; ) Because I have read MILLIONS of books, I'm sure.
Ok... here goes:

Pages:        Title:              Author:                    # of Books:
262    Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen
           Great Expectations Charles Dickens
 735    David Copperfield Charles Dickens
699    The Robe           Lloyd C. Douglas
503    The Big Fisherman     Lloyd C. Douglas
367    King Arthur's Knights     Henry Gilbert
372    The Pearl Maiden                    H. Rider Haggard
The Chronicles of Narnia     C.S. Lewis                      7
Cheney Duvall M.D. Series    Gilbert Morris              12
Anne of Green Gables Series  L.M. Montgomery     12
Love Comes Softly Series      Janette Oke               8
A Prairie Legacy Series           Janette Oke                  4
251    A Gown of Spanish Lace        Janette Oke
 344    Stepping Heavenward             Elizabeth Prentiss
           Michael O’Halloran                    Gene Stratton-Porter
475    Daughter of the Land               Gene Stratton-Porter
125    At The Foot Of The Rainbow  Gene Stratton-Porter
The Bronze Bow         Elizabeth George Speare
 523    Ishmael                                         E.D.E.N. Southworth
The Lord of the Rings         J.R.R. Tolkien              3
The Lamb Among The Stars  Chris Walley      3 (I have read 1 & 2 )
 202    The Age of Chivarly

Ok... So not as many I thought, but I know there are alot more books I can't remember. That is all I have recorded since 2005. I have read some of these multiple times too.
I have learned alot about many things by reading books, especially Classics.
I have a list going for what I will be reading in the future. Some of the ones I am interested in are:
    Bleak House                     Charles Dickens
    Self-Raised                       E.D.E.N. Southworth
    Dark Foundations            Chris Walley
    Scarlet Letter                    Nathaniel Hawthorne
    Sense and Sensibility     Jane Austen

I will do a follow up post with non fiction books I have read. That is going to be a long one too.
Ok...   we don't start school til after Labor Day... who has started already??

As Always,

Hey Amanda! OH GOODNESS!!! I haven't commented you in forever! I am sooo behind on my commenting it's not even funny! I don't think I'll ever be able to catch up...oh well.

Oh, I love classics!!! They are the absolute best in my opinion! I also really like the Lamplighter books, they're great. Right now I am reading Pride and Prejudice and I'm really enjoying it. I also read part of Ishmael, but got really depressed after the first part and stopped reading it so I'm going to start reading it over after I'm done with P&P. Also (I may have told you this before) The Hidden Hand is a really good book too. I think it's written by the same author as Ishmael.

Well, I hope you have a great day! Hopefully we can chat sometime this week (via phone or IM).

Sparkles ; )

Oh, and thanks again for correcting that uhhh...little mistake of mine! LOL! I'm such an idiot!

LOL! That was a weird comment from you. It looked like the first half was written to me and the second half was written to somebody else.

Well, we do school all year round, so we won't officially start. I'm waiting for the new science books we ordered to come, then I start up again.

That's a pretty good list; I have rest most of the books you named.

I'm very glad that I began the habit at the beginning of high school of keeping a log of all the books I read, when I started and when I finished them. The list is really long now, and I am constantly adding more. I also just wrote up a good list of books that I would like to read as well.

I would love to leave a longer comment, but my mom needs help with the 2-yr-old!!

That looks like a great list of books, and I will have to remember it for when I need something to read.

I would really like to know what you think of The Scarlett Letter when you finish it. I only listened to an abriged version of it, but I have talked to another person, and we both thought that the author condoned what the main character did. That is to say, Hester doesn't feel bad about what she did, and she didn't get her just rewards at the end. I have to say that I most definatly may be wrong, which is why I would love to hear what you have to say.

I like reading all kinds of books, classics, novels, fiction, non- fiction, etc. I'm talking about books that have meaning, not books that have no meaning and no value (like soooo many books out there day). I've read C.S Lewis's theology stories, those are great. I've read a few of Charles Dickens’s books. J.R.R.Tolkien's books are intriguing to me and they're also classics, kinda. Anywho, how is like in Metropolis, the city where the "Man of steel" resides? Ttyl and God bless.

I noticed you added me to your friends list. :-D
You wouldn't just so happen to like Superman would you? I have read some of those books too. I'm currently reading the Chronicels(?) of Narnia. I really like them so far I'm on the 4th book. I had no idea they went back to Narnia. I have only watched the movie. (which I loved)
Ok I guess I'll go and stop talking. :-D
Have a blessed day.

Hi Amanda,
I was just stopping by to see what you were up to....I'm taking a short break from making my ballgown...so I thought I'd say hello to you.

I enjoyed reading your post.......I love to read classics...well I just like to read books. I've read many of the ones that you've listed.....

Dicken's works are always good...I've not yet read Bleak House, I really enjoyed the movie version by Masterpiece Theater, but still need to read the book.
Have you read or seen the movie Nicholas Nicholby? I enjoyed both the book and the movie, although the movie had a few moments that might not be for little kids. Anyway....
What else have you been up to?
I've just been sewing, I'm afraid that's way my blog hasn't been updated, but I did do a tag that your sis tagged me with a while ago.

I hope you are having a wonderful day!
Love,
Amanda Brielle
