This Article was published in Blogger Friend School
So much to do so little time to do it. There is so much to blog and now I am behind on my Blogger Friend School Assignments. Ugh... anyway... so now I am three weeks behind. So hopefully I can get today's done before next week's. lol. Here are the last 2 assignments.
Assignment #7:
"This week, I’ve decided to do another “oldie” but “goodie” assignment ….Let’s have a PUMPKIN PARTY!
This assignment is open for creativity! Share anything in your assignment post related to Pumpkins….recipes, favorite books, children’s drawings, Lapbooks and more! Easy and fun!
AND….
Share another scripture that comes to heart!"
For my pumpkin party I thought I would do something new and different. I decided to do a collage of pumpkin pictures from our little pumpkin sketch party.
Here is my collage.
It didn't turn out the way I was hoping. I was hoping it was going to be so modern. You know how you see those really neat pictures where they are so precise and just interesting to see.
And here is my invert collage.
I was trying to make it black and white, but paint won't do that. It turned out this way instead. I thought it was kinda neat anyway, so I thought I would show it too.
And the verse that came to mind... well pumpkins and gourds remind me of harvest time. They actually just took down the corn fields around us last week.
Here is what the Bible says about harvest:
Matthew 9:37
"The harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborours into His harvest."
Well... that pretty much says what it means. Let us pray for the believers who are too busy worrying about if they will be different from the world or about ignoring people who left your church, that they will come to realize we need each other. We need to be a body that is together. Can a body function if it is broken and in pieces?? I don't think so. We need to be in working order which means we need to get over our grudges and come together.
Assignment #8

"Woo hoo! Another week of fun! I admit that I do NOT like laundry. It is one of my least favorite chores since it is one of those chores that seems endless. I can empty all the laundry baskets and within minutes there are more clothes dumped into to fill the empty space.
Hmm…How many are thinking what is this assignment going to be? My laundry or something hidden deep within that you haven’t shared? Let me end the suspense and say BOTH! Keep in mind that these assignments are meant to stretch you and encourage you to creatively blog.
Part A - Share about your family’s laundry. Where is it kept? Who does it? How does your family sort it? Do you wash by hand? Hang clothes on the clothesline? Make your own laundry soap? How often do you do laundry? How many loads each day/week? Indoor laundry room, in the garage, or laundry mat? Even more fun…share a picture!
Part B - Do you have an area in your life that you know that the Lord is tugging at some heart strings that needs to be cleaned up? Have a testimony of your past struggle(s) that might help another homeschooling mom? Share a piece of your heart (dirty laundry) that you are seeking a good washing or how it got cleaned up. Sharing with one another is a great way to have your post feel human and real.
Part C - FIND a scripture this week that pertains to this assignment to help you with your laundry and share it this week."
I love doing laundry. Well not putting it away, but washing, drying, and folding. I love having clean clothes to be able to wear. This was just a fun assignment!! It is actually pretty funny that this was the assignment because I just posted a bit about it in my Desiring A Mind To Work
Part A:
Where is it kept? It's in the bathroom/laundry room. Yep our laundry room is in the bathroom. The dirty clothes are kept on the floor next to the washer, and the dirty towels are kept in the bin next to the washer.
Who does it? I DO!! I am in charge of all the laundry. I wash, dry, and fold. Until this week, I was only folding parents, littles, and mine. Jocelyn, Rachel, Eric, and Hannie folded their own. Now I fold everyone's and put them away. Isaac and Caleb do an excellent job of folding towels with me. And Isaac usually puts his own clothes away. Such a big boy!!
How does your family sort it? I sort into colors. darks, reds, colors(greens, grays, yellows), whites, towels, diapers, Lucy's and then of course my clothes. I do not like to wash my clothes with everyone else's because they are sooo dirty and mine aren't. Very narcissistic, I know.
Do you wash by hand? NO!! I don't think I could do that. I love my washer too much.
Hang clothes on the clothesline? Yes. In the summer I hang clothes out. But we need to put up a clothes line for next year. We have one, but its not really a clothes line. It is strung from the porch to the windmill. It works ok... but its not tight enough and it sags.
Make your own laundry soap? Nope. We use either Shaklee (which I can now order by myself) or Seventh Generation Organic laundry detergent. It's powdered too. I think It cleans better and lasts longer.
How often do you do laundry? EVERYDAY!! EVERYDAY!!
How many loads each day/week? I do diapers and towels separately everyday. I also try to do a load of each of the groups I divide them into. So that is.... 8-10 a day. It depends on if we have been working outside or what we have been doing.
Indoor laundry room, in the garage, or laundry mat? Indoor laundry room!! Thank GOD!! WOOT!!
Even more fun…share a picture! Ready for this??
Here is our washer and dryer:

Here is all the cleaners and detergents we use for the whole house. If you look at the shelf beneath the top you can see where we keep the cloth diapers.
And here is the whole laundry area. Not very big for a family of 10, huh??

Part B:
Oh man... There is so much dirty laundry in my life right now. I am really ashamed of it all. One specifically is, (and Mom has been telling me this for the last couple of weeks, and I didn't want to believe her,)... since I turned 18, I have had a superiority complex. I feel that I am an adult and should be able to do whatever I want. Go where I want, say what I want, get what I want. Without any consideration from Mom. Yes, I ask for permission because that is what I suppose to do, but if she doesn't let me do what I want, then I have an attitude problem. According to the world's standards, I am an adult. I can assume full responsibility for all my actions. So why shouldn't I be able to decide for myself what I need or want to do?? I can't do that because I am still my parent's responsibility. I am still under their protection and household.
One of the things that this assignment says to do is share a past struggle for other homeschool moms, but not being a homeschool mom that is kinda hard. lol. No really, instead here is a word of encouragement for all of you teens out there. No matter what you are struggling with always remember that there is a plan for you and if you take yourself out of God's perfect will, you will not only mess up your life, but also that of your husband, children, grandchildren, etc. Now it may only be for a season, but still once you mess something up, you will have to backtrack to fix it. We need to stop wasting time backtracking and just stay on the right track.
There are many more areas I need to work, but this is one that has really been a struggle to me this past couple of weeks. I am asking for prayer about this. Please pray for me.
Part C:
I thought a good verse for this is what I was talking about above: God' perfect will.
Romans 12:2
"And be ye not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. that ye may prove that which is the good, and acceptable, and PERFECT will of God."
Being conformed is not only talking about the way you act or dress or do. It about talking about your attitudes and the way you are. Your demeanor, your heart, your thought process. I don't want to be conformed the way most of the people nowadays are. I want to be set apart as God's. And I want to be in His perfect will. I want it to be His way, not mine. Oh what a hard road is the one that is less traveled.
As Always,

Thanks for stopping by "Daily" at the "Planet"!!

Hey!
I liked your post. :-) Our 'laundry room' in Florida was a long, shallow closet in the hallway, with folding doors in front it. Not a room at all. Now we use our utility room for laundry, as well as our pantry, chest freezer, etc. It's a lot more space for doing laundry, which is nice.
Things are going great for me. :-) You?
One of my friends has a red Chocolate. It looks nice. :-)
Hugs,
Becca

Excellent post... I had so many thoughts while reading it... let's see how much I can remember!
Firstly, I love the pumpkin collage. I think it is very "modern" and "artsy"... well, done!
I love the verse you tied in. I remember memorizing the verse when I was Jocelyn's age when I was on a Bible Quiz Team.
We do 2-3 loads of laundry a day, but did more when we had diapers, but currently no one is in diapers around here!
I think you will find that you can use about 1/4 of the reccommended about of the Powdered Shaklee laundry detergent and get moderately dirty clothes clean still. For very dirty clothes 1/2 to 3/4 of what is recommended will work fine and for stains try a bit of liquid L to stain treat and/or soak in Nature Bright for up to 10 days if necessary. It really does work. I got grease out of a pale pink fleece vest!!!
As to the attitude... yep, that is something we all deal with moms, children, dads, even pets sometimes, I think!!! Submit yourself to God each day and remember that in giving up your own rights for the "greater good" and the Gloryof God... therein lies TRUE JOY!

OH loong post :) I like long posts :) :Lately, I have noticed I have been really snippy with people. I don't understand why. I just have. Every little thing annoys me to no end. I was sitting in the car the other day and my friend was sitting next to me, she kept leaning against my arm and for some strange reason it was annoying me and I was getting really frustrated!!!!! Argh.. I'll pray for you if you pray for me. I don't know why I am acting like this. sigh..........
Anyway, on that cheery note!!!!!!!! Yeah i do need to slow down but i got my work schedule for next week and man oh man I work 26 hours. Yet it's worth it after I get the paycheck ya know?? :D
The show was awesome! You should watch ti really. I think the littler ones might like it. I must say they do swear but it's bleeped out.. But my brother brandon,5 years old, is addicted to the show.. HAHAHA. wait that's bad huh? well at least it's semi-educational :D
Love

Man that was so much fun I want to do that now!!! HAHAH Nice washers ours are old and small I think I would rather hand wash than put my laundrey in our washer. We go to the laundrey mat because we have hard water our hole house smells like rusty water when we do anything its really hard so we just do our clothes at the mat (wich prturbs my mum to no end) I helped my aunt with he rlaundrey and they hang there things outside the only thing wrong with that is the jeans get really stiff so I think ill stick with dryers.

Our laundry room also serves as a mud room/bathroom/utility room. We have a dryer, but we try to use it as little as possible because it takes up so much electricity.
I am so tired of doing graphics with paint. It would be so cool to have some sort of graphics program, but I'm not going to spend any of my precious college savings!! ;-)
It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is in less than a week!!

it's probably my favorite "chore" other than cooking for the family which I also really like. I posted once about how we keep all the dirty clothes pre-sorted by color into hampers and it saves a bunch of time. But Wow! 8 loads a day?! -- I hope you have a heavy duty washer. :D
Your pumpkin photo's were great - especially the blue/white one!

Wow! Great reflection on the whole superiority thing. She is right you know (I know you don't want to hear that). We ALL are like that at that age. If we do not wise up, then the Lord ends up spanking us quite a bit. And that my friend is really difficult. So, learn what you can from your parents and seek the Lord's direction in your life. Because even though you are alomost there, you still do not always know what is best for you. (Can we still be friends??) :)
I hope your time of giving thanks is truly blessed and special.

Wow. You DO have to do a lot of laundry! lol. We have to do a lot too, but not quite as much as you because we only have six people in our family. I kind of like doing laundry also. I don't know why, maybe because I like having clean things.
I'm so ashamed...I haven't been blogging like I should. I'll try and get a good post up soon.
I'll pray for you.
Love,
~Nikki

That second picture of the pumpkins is really neat-looking. I've been thinking lately it would be fun to get a good graphics/photo-editing program sometime, when I can afford it that is. Lol.
Inside laundry rooms are awesome! We've had ours for 3 years now. At our old house it was out in the garage - yuck, too dark and cold. :-)
You'll be in my prayers,
Mandy

This was an interesting post for me to read!
Our family was talking about humility the day before yesterday. Coincidence? I don't think so. :)
You have a nice laundry room, I think ours is about the same lengthwise, we don't have enough room in the front to stand back and take a picture though. LOL!
I've really missed you the last couple weeks. You're one of my favorite bloggers, but getting computer time in has been difficult.

Hello Amanda,
Thanks for the comment...sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
How have you been?
I enjoyed your post....the pumkin pictures look very nice. Good idea to group them like that.
Oh...the laundry.. sounds like you have a busy job... in our house we all do our own laundry... My twin brother does his on Monday, I do mine on Tuesday...then everyone else has there days...(or where ever it fits in...) I do love to do my laundry when I can iron it and make it look nice... then hang it all up... I don't have a dresser so my stuff gets hung up... (well I have a couple drawers for little things)
I'll be praying for you too....
So what else have you been up to?
I hope you have a wonderuful day!
Sincerely,
Brielle

I just wanted to recommend that if you are still using Paint for your computer artwork, you should really try GIMP. It is free software and is sooo much more powerful. There is a learning curve, but once you get used to it you will never go back!
