What Happens When You Only Have ONE Computer

This Article was published in Daily bloggings of a 18 year old Girl on her way to becoming a Woman of God

Yes, you heard me right: One computer. Our laptop had to be taken to Best Buy for a new motherboard. That laptop was buggered. Totally loco. There was something really wrong with the memory. Being Vista, it runs more programs that XP, and it takes half your memory just to start up. So it said we only had a little bit of memory left. huh?? We just bought it in March, so we knew that it wasn't the memory as we don't download hardly anything. Anyway, the Geek Squad told us that it is just probably Vista, it being so new. There are some bugs they are working on to fix it.

I know I have been posting some seriously heavy posts lately and while I LOVE those types of posts, I feel I must take a break from them today. I actually have quite a few heavy posts I am working on, but with only one computer with four people blogging and working on it, I have not had any time to work on them. Much else do anything else!! So needless to say it is VERY hard to be able to get on the computer and work on anything. That is why you get this post without any meaning and why its been a week since I blogged. Since I couldn't work on any really great posts, I decided to give you a little peek into what has been going on lately.

One thing that is really exciting is Marmee has hired me as one of the Girlhood Home Companion graphic designers for the magazine and also for marketing. I really happy about this because both of these things are up my alley. Having this "job" requires me to get a new computer too. YAY!! Who doesn't love a new computer?? I do!! My "Tech Squad" have both been helping me find a computer that will suit my needs.

While I was looking at computers I thought it would be fun to see, just see, if I could find a Superman one. hahaha yeah I know... keep dreaming. Anyway, I found a Superman laptop for $2,500, but no desktops. I also found a Superman keyboard and mouse set for about $25. I am really going to try and get it. It was really neat.

I am also really excited about getting "Dark Foundations" (book 3) by Chris Walley. Dad just ordered it, and I should have it by the end of the week, I hope.  I truly love this series. Mom got it a couple Christmases ago, and once I read it, I loved it. When I first started blogging I wrote up a horrible book report on " The Shadow At Evening" (book 1) but not "The Power Of The Night" (book 2). I hate writing book reports because I can never write enough without giving up the whole story. But take my word on it, this series is in the class of Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia. Once you get reading it, you won't want to put it down. Really. I have had to put myself on a 10 page a day limit so that I don't run out of the book before the next one comes. hahaha This is the second time I have read the series.
The thing I love about these books is you have to take yourself out of our world and go into theirs. While that is not always a good thing when you are reading book, this time it is. I wish I could live in their world. It is the time of Jesus' 1,000 year reign. There is no sin whatsoever. NONE. It really puts alot of things into perspective, I think.
Anyway you MUST read this series. I also really love to visit Mr. Walley's blog, "News from Farholme". Not only can you see some more in-depth stuff about the books, but Mr. Walley has some great insight on many things.  He is an author, so he is a great blogger.

Speaking of books and reading... the HSB Literary Club  has officially started reading "The Hedge of Thorns". The discussion starts TODAY!! We are reading chapters 1-3 this week. Mom has already done a super job on getting us in the time period for it as well as themes of the book and some discussion questions she made up. I actually just sat down and read my 3 chapters on Monday and yesterday we read it as a family. I must say it is a pretty powerful book already, but if you want to hear my discussion you will have to head over to HSB Lit Club to see it... So see you there!!

I will soon be blogging at SuperAngelsblog.com. Now... I haven't decided whether I will be putting here on hsb or not. I will lose all of my hsb posts if I do, but will you all come over to SuperAngel's blog and comment... that is the question. I am really excited tho to have my own url. That had to be the best birthday present I got.

Thank you so much Paulie and Eric.

Oh yes, you should check out the template that Chloe made for Sarah. It is really nice. Chloe is also going to start a template business soon. She has some pretty reasonable rates too.

The HSBA nominations are now over. Did you get your nominations in?? I sure hope so. They have all the nominations up now, so you can peruse them this weekend. Voting begins Dec. 3rd btw. There are some really great ones on there. More specifically.... The Daily Planet. hahaha
I do have a request from all of you who actually care about the blog awards... if you are going to vote for me, please vote for me in the "Best Live What You Believe Homeschool Blog" category instead of the "Best Teen Gal Blog" category. The reason I ask that is because, if you vote for me in the "gal" one, then I am going up against Jocelyn and she was not nominated in another category. So if you are going to vote for me on Dec. 3rd, please do so in the "Best Live What You Believe Homeschool Blog" category. Also THE Raspberry Pixie Muffin was nominated for best new blog, so if you love Lucy, then vote for her too!!
Be sure to check over there for the latest on all the award stuff and other stuff too. The ladies there are doing a really great job on keeping the site up and getting people interested in many things. This coming Saturday, I am doing the "Saturday Poetry and Literature". So come over on Saturday and see me.

Speaking of Lucy...her blog has been updated. Well kinda. Mom has pulled some old posts that pertain to Lucy off her blog and put them on Lucy's. So if you haven't read everything about Lucy, I think we got it up there.

We have seen some really awesome movies lately. One I really love is "The Ultimate Gift". If you haven't seen it, you must. That movie is just something else. Shows what's really important in life. We also saw "Amazing Grace". Another wonderful movie. I have a post coming up on that.

It has been really cold here lately and I totally want summer back. I don't think I will make it through winter. Not to mention we are now on daylight savings time. ugh. It is dark at 5:30pm instead of 7:30pm. It's a pain.

Well... I think that is all. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

As Always,

Hey Miss Amanda,

Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that this time of the year is wonderful time with the family and that you give thanks to the Lord for everything!

Thanks for those tips on voting and I will definitely pick someone that really deserves it!

I really like the blog that you got for you BD but to tell you the truth it would be easier to check out your post on HSB. I will still drop by that blog often though and be sure to check in.

I am hoping to put a new post up soon but right now I don't feel like it because yesterday they put spacers in my teeth and now my teeth are swollen and really sore. Also I was going to do put it on Mon. but our computer wasn't working so they had to transfer us to a new one and now the computer has everything but the pictures. I am going to posting about the field trip we went on which was a Fire Academy. I have so many pictures to post and some really cool ones too. As you know I have never before posted pictures of my life so I know you can't wait.

Well g2g clean and bake for tomorrow. Have a great day!

Love, Miss Elizabeth

You are so cute! I did not think you were mad at me!! LOL! I knew you may be a bit at first.
But- you are cool- so of course you would forgive me soon!
Glad your computer issues are starting to work out. I am not a fan of Vista myself. I do not think I will be getting it until Microsoft works out all the kinks. It usually takes a year or so. :)

Thanks for your comment!

And I love commenting on your blog! So I guess it works out good. :-)

I will have to check out Lucy's blog. She is so cute...

Bummer about your laptop. I know how hard it can be sharing a computer. *sigh* (I guess I should just be glad that we have one.)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey!

Yep, I lived in FL. We moved two days after my 11th birthday. I miss it..... but I also don't miss it. :-) I'll always *love* the beach, ocean, palm trees, sand, and incredible sunsets I had down there, but the country has a whole lot of charm and beauty too. :-)

It must be hard to go to one computer when you're used to two. :-) We only have one, and there are six people using it! We'd love to buy a laptop, but it doesn't sound like we can swing it this year. Oh well. Maybe next year!

A Superman computer would be very cool! I'd get one with a big heart on the front; that's like my symbol. LOL

Hugs,
Becca

We all lead such exciting individual lives, don't we? Mine's sure been a roller coaster lately. That's partly why it's taken me this long to get back to you.

I'd thought about that, concerning SE, and I decided, since I'm not moving 'til next May I'll keep doing Texas. And even if it's still going by the time we do move I'll just do both. I love Texas too much. ;-)

God is working in my life, in many ways, but sometimes I forget or I just don't realize it so I play the bored with life role. I think I'm getting better.

Well, I need to get off now. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. I'm thankful for you. :-)

Love, Mellie

One computer?!!!!!!! EEP! We have two. The Laptop that is my mom's I use in my room for "late night blogging" but I prefer using the computer that I am typing this comment on. (It's in my mom's room and it's faster than the 1990's laptop.) Yes the laptop is a dinosaur. Thank God i will be getting a laptop of my own when I start college in January :D

YAAY! Another Kasey Kahne fan!!!!!! :D Isn't he adorable?? :D except he got into a shoving match with a security guard at a race and now he is in trouble.. sigh.........

I give up on finding appropriate shirts. sigh......Thankfully I have come up with the brilliant plan to wear tank tops underneath low cut shirts. Then they are apporpriate cause the tank comes to my collar bone ya know? I think it's brilliant :D I recently bought shirts that were V neck button ones, very inappropriate to wear in public. So I put a tank top underneath and mom was so happy that they worked and not only did they become appropriate the tank underneath was extremely cute!!!!!!!!!! :D

Ok I'm done. :)

My family has three computers for one blogger. I wish I could share with you. :) My hubby fixed two of them and the third is our slow, old Mac. We really should get rid of it, but we can't bring ourselves to do it. And who knows when my kids will start blogging? :)

I heard you are going to host an upcoming Carnival of Principled Government. That's great! I look forward to it.

Congratulations on your nominations! It is going to be so hard to choose.

Peace to you,

Yay, updates! Always love those...

That's a hard decision about your new site vs. putting it on hsb. BUT that would be sooo sad to lose all your old entries, and I BEG you not to do that. All your diligent, lovely writings all gone? Oh, please, please, please don't! :o(

Mom's been wanting to see the Ultimate Gift, and now that I hear you like it so, it makes me want to see it too ;-) We also want to see Sin Eater, which I heard was good.

Happy Thanksgiving, Amanda!! Hope you have a blessed day.

Hey Amanda!!

I know how aggrivating that is! Our computer is on the brink of blowing up. 0_0 So Ryan is going to bring it home with him to try and fix it. I'm so glad Jordan and I have a laptop cuz we would of been at least two weeks without a computer. I would of surrvived, but it wouldn't of been fun. ^_^ LOL!

That is so neat that you got a webste! I'll have to go check it out! I would go and comment. ^_^

I really, really like my template! Chloe did a wonderful job! It's just what I wanted! Perfect-o! ^_^ Thank you!

I ha tried to go and nominate someone but I couldn't figure it out. Leave it to me not to understand the most simplest things. LOL!
I hope you and Joc win!!

I watched the Amazing Grace movie too!! I really liked it!

That is a bummer that the laptop went loco. I hope they get it fixed! We have two computers, but we have dial up so it takes forever to do anything. My mom's computer is the fastest and her computer is several years older then my dad's. How weird is that? Well when the voting is up I will vote for you, Jocelyn, and Lucy!

Oh, Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We have two laptops for strictly business and one for fun and business. That doesn't leave much chance per person here! LOL!

You could buy a non-superman laptop and put a superman "S" decal or sticker on it. That would probably be a lot cheaper. ;)

I'm surprised Jocelyn was nominated for only one category. Sure, I'll vote, will it be at that site?

Wow! Only one computer? Hope it gets fixed soon!

Congrats on being hired as one of the Girlhood Home Companion graphic designers for the magazine and also for marketing!!! You must be so excited!!! :) Wow! A new computer with the job? Very nice!

A Superman laptop!?! How cool! I'm not to sure if the price is cool, though. :-D The Superman keyboard and mouse set sounds cool, too.

I'll have to check out those books since you highly recommend them. :)

This SuperAngelsblog sounds really neat. I'll have to try to go check it out when I leave from your blog. :) And I'll try to comment on it. If you don't see a comment from me it's either 'cuz I couldn't figure out what to do or dial-up was taking to long to pull it up. :)

It's been cold over here, too. Right now, it's 32 degrees outside. Brrrr! Of course it's only 6:15 in the morning! Ha! :-D How cold is it over there?

Well, hope you have a wonderfully blessed day!

And, congratulations on your job! I'm sure you'll do very well with it.

What I Believe

I am a Biblical Believer and don’t conform to the denominations of today’s world. I am a non-fiction Believer. That means that God has already written my life story and I don’t want to change it by doing what I want, but follow it perfectly by His Word and Guidance. I will follow that plan alone. I will not make my own plans, but follow where He leads me.
I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and love Him as my Savior. I want to live wholly for Him and give my everything to Him.
I believe in Jesus Christ. That He is the Only Son of God. That He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father unless through Jesus Christ.
I believe Jesus Christ was beaten, crucified, and rose again in three days. I believe that He died for my sins, and washed them away. I believe that He is coming back for his people some day soon.
I believe that a marriage consists of a MAN and a WOMAN. I believe that the husband should be the head of the household and that all decisions lie ultimately with him. I believe that a woman should be a keeper of her home. I believe she does not need to get a job outside of her home and out of the authority of her husband.
I believe in a full quiver, and that God will give me the desires of my heart. I believe that the woman should stay home and raise her children in the LORD.
I am praying and waiting for God to bring the man of my dreams. I can’t wait to get married and have my own family. I am excited that I can be a stay at home mom and keep my home. I want to be a Homemaker and make my home to be a haven for my family to learn to be Biblical and Godly.
I hope to be an encouragement and teach Biblical things to all who stop by my blog and be encouraged and learn from others.
