Being My Daddy's Girl

This Article was published in Published Articles

You know the saying, "you never know what you had til its gone"? Well I can say how true that really is! I thank ADONAI that I can say that and still have it! I am talking about a having a relationship with your dad. I can say from experience that it is such a blessing to be close with your father because he was given to you from the Lord. I can honestly say it is the one of the most important you can have growing up. ADONAI gave us fathers as a earthly example of what ADONAI truly is!
Psalms 103:13*
"Just as a father has compassion on his children, ADONAI has compassion on those who fear him."
I have not always been close to my dad and looking back, I now regret those years when we didn't really have a relationship, because they are gone and I can never have them back. But by the grace and love of ADONAI, I now have a wonderful and close relationship with my dad and I cannot express what it means to me!

I believe and can say this from my own life, that every girl has a special place in her heart for her daddy. I think that when you get older and when you get married that place will be mostly given to your husband, but you will still have a place in your heart for your dad. Every girl has a need that only a daddy can fill.
It is so very important that you have a close relationship with your father because that place will either be filled by him or you will go off searching for someone to fill it before the time is right. If we don't let our dads fill that place, it will be much worse for us. We have to have a close relationship with our dads and let our dads protect us and help us become the righteous women that God has created us to be!

I love my dad so much and I am so grateful that God gave me more time to be able to become closer to him. There is so much I can learn and gain from him and I know that God gave me the perfect man to be my father. He really is just who I need!
It really is a joy to help him and do things for him as a daughter to show him how much he means to me. In respecting and honoring my father, I am respecting and honoring and showing ADONAI that I love Him and how much he means to me too.
Fathers are an example for us to know what it means to obey and listen to our heavenly father. By submitting to our dads, we gain the habit of submitting to what our heavenly father says too. Fathers are really an awesome example of our heavenly father and through being close to our dads we can learn how important a relationship is and then we will yearn for a closer one with ADONAI.

This father's day, I want to stress the fact that you need to have a close relationship with your daddy. I would challenge you to step back and evaluate your relationship with your earthly father and also your heavenly father. Are you where you should be? What could you do to be closer to them?
Take an honest look at both relationships and see what you can do as a daughter to help those relationships and in essence friendships be better than they are! One of the best ways I know how to become closer to someone is to spend time with them. Is your dad working on a project? go out when he works on it and even if you can't do something stand there and talk with him or be a "gofer" for him. There are many things my dad does that I can just go out and be with him and talk to him about things. ADONAI wants to be closer with you even more so than your dad. Spend some extra time in His Word, or when you're doing chores or a project, talk to Him about what's on your heart or mind. Great thing about ADONAI is that He is *ALWAYS* around to talk to you.

There are so many different ways we can become closer to both our fathers. Isn't that just awesome that we have someone who is so special as a father and not only do we the wonderful person that is our dad, but we have TWO of them!
Let's not as daughters just show our dads how special he is on Father's Day, but let's love, honor, respect, submit and become closer to him everyday!

Did you get the opportunity to take part in Write To Your Father Day? If not, take some time to write a little note to your dad!

I was thinking about my Dad and what it means to be a Dad...
D oing everything he can to ensure that I become
A ll that ADONAI has created me to be
D uring this time that ADONAI gave me to his charge.
Lovin' my dad!
