Wanna Make Some Fried Goodness?

So y'all wanna know how to make that Fried Goodness I showed y'all yesterday? I really love green beans! They are my favorite vegetable, but just cooking up green beans isn't the way to eat such a grand veggie... so I came up with Fried Green Beans.
You need:
1 bag of frozen green beans. We don’t have any fresh green beans planted and there is really no place to buy any around our area, so we just use frozen, which are MUCH better than canned! bleh!
1/2 stick of unsalted butter.
4 slices of turkey bacon. We do not eat pork at all, so we use turkey or beef.
1/2 onion. We use organic yellow onions.
1 iron skillet. I love cooking in an iron skillet because it puts iron in your food and gives a great flavor too!
Pour the green beans into the skillet, cook til thawed. No water. When they started to get brown, add butter and fry them til they are a little crunchy and brown. Then add the bacon and onions and cook til soft. I like them when they are a dark brown. Add a little salt to taste and voila!
A great way to eat a great vegetable!

Oh So Sweet!

Ever since we have been observing Sabbath, we make sure we have a special dessert for our Sabbath meal. We have been switching between cheesecake and angel food cake with berries and whip topping. This week I wanted to try something different and was trying to coming up with something that we don't have ever have and I asked Mom and then I looked at one of our Kraft magazines. I saw something with chocolate pudding, so I asked Mom if we could come up with something with Oreos, chocolate pudding and whip topping. I looked for some type of recipe with those three ingredients, but didn't find a recipe, so I decided I could come up with something myself. Yeah... right... :P Although searching apparently oreos, whip topping and chocolate pudding desserts are big things... shows ya how much I know! :P

So I was thinking of some type of like dirt cup dessert, but instead I came up with this:
Photobucket
It turned out amazingly! Really... it was as good as it looks! It was SUPER easy to make too. So here is the unrecipe:
Chocolate pudding
Whip Topping
Oreos (broken into 4 pieces and some crushed)

Take 3 Oreo pieces and put them in the bottom of the dish. Scoop the pudding on it to cover them. Put whip topping on pudding and sprinkle the crushed Oreo on the whip topping. Top with a cherry.
Now... you can layers this if you want, just do the layers over again. :)
It was really good... I was so stuffed from our Sabbath meal tho that I let Dad finish mine... well I WOULDN'T finish mine. that's a funny story...
I wanted a picture of someone eating the dessert and was gonna have Mom take a picture of me eating mine, but she was on the other end of the table, so she suggested I give my dessert to Dad and have him pretend to eat it for a picture. I made sure to tell him NOT to eat off my spoon cause I hate eating after people... eww!
This is him telling me he wouldn't eat it... uh huh... So he said he wouldn't, so he got a spoonful and put it up to his mouth and RIGHT AS I SNAPPED THE PICTURE he stuck my spoon in his mouth! :O He's such a hoot, huh? :P Well the picture didn't turn out so I said we needed another one and he stuck the spoon back into my dessert! Ahhh! I got a few more shots and he kept eating it!

When I was finished with the picture taking he asked me if I wanted it back... umm.... No! So it was funny, but I wish I could have eaten it! At least I got a couple bites before Dad tho... LOL! At least Dad liked it! ;)

Apparently so did the Dude... he made sure to get every. bit. of. it.

Anyway... this dessert was really really good! And if anyone has any name suggestions for it, let me know! If you make it too I wanna know how you liked it or what you did differently!

Enjoying the Sweet Life,

Eatin' Good In The Neighborhood!
Published on December 28, 2008 at 7:57 PM

This Article was published in Food-Health

On Friday we had our neighbor, Mr. Schenck, over for dinner. We all really love him as he is like a grandpa to us! :) For dinner I planned for us to have lasagna, fried green beans, peas and breadsticks! When I twittered what I was doing, SisterLisa asked me what I used and such. So I thought maybe y'all would like to know my lasagna recipe, and the recipe for breadsticks too!

Lasagna
Boil water for lasagna noodles. I used two boxes of organic lasagna noodles and put them in when the water was boiling. For the sauce you will need:

1 28oz. can of organic whole tomatoes
1 16oz. can of organic diced tomatoes
1 clove of organic garlic
1 half of organic onion

Put all those in your food processor til it is chopped finely and mixed well. Put into pan. I rinsed out the food processor cup with water as well as the tomato cans into the pan. It is going to be really watery, so you want to bring to a boil and cover so some of the water will vaporize out! Boil for about an hour. Brown hamburger. I used 2# for 12 people. Put meat in sauce. If it starts getting "dry", put some water in and turn to low. I used a wok pan for the sauce and it was full! you need to have a full pan.
Shred some provolone or mozzarella cheese about 1 1/2# and mix with 24oz of cottage cheese. Don't mix all the provolone with the cottage cheese because you will need some to top the dish with. By now your noodles should be done, your sauce is done, and your cheese mixture is ready. Your layers will want to go like this: sauce, noodles, cheese, sauce, noodles, cheese, and so on til your pan is full. After you get all your layers on, top it with some provolone and bake at 400' til the cheese on top is brown!

Now the Breadsticks recipe comes from the West ladies of Homestead Blessings.
You will need:

2 1/2 cups of flour
1 tbsp yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp honey
1 cup warm water
4 tbsp olive oil

mix dry ingredients first, then add rest of ingredients. Mix them at a nice pace, then knead with hands til soft. Let rest for 10min, knead again for about 5min. Preheat oven to 400'. Flour your hands lightly, then take a small ball of dough and roll it between your hands til you get a "stick" of dough. Keep doing that with all your dough. Let rest for about 5min. The first ones you did don't have to rest because they have been resting while you have been rolling your other ones. Lay on your stoneware. Melt some butter, olive oil, and fresh garlic in pan. Don't boil, just melt. Then brush on top of breadsticks. Salt them and bake them for 15min.
They will come out a lovely brown that is so soft!

Fried Green Beans
You need:

1 bag of frozen green beans. We don't have any fresh green beans planted and there is really no place to buy any around our area, so we just use frozen, which are MUCH better than canned! bleh!
1/2 stick of unsalted butter.
4 slices of turkey bacon. We do not eat pork at all, so we use turkey or beef.
1/2 onion. We use organic yellow onions.
1 iron skillet. I love cooking in an iron skillet because it puts iron in your food and gives a different flavor too!

Pour the green beans into the skillet, cook til thawed. No water. When they started to get brown, add butter and fry them til they are a little crunchy and brown.
Then add the bacon and onions and cook til soft. I like them when they are a dark brown. I like to add a little salt to mine.
(I did use all organics though in all the recipes, even though I didn't put it on there!)

So that would be dinner! It was really good and I want some right now! :) I love lasagna! It is one of my favorite dishes!
Let me know if you make this and what you did, and if you like it! ;)
Love, Prayers and Blessings,

No More For Me! Til July!
Published on June 14, 2006 at 2:49 PM

This Article was published in Food-Health

Well I did not know that Chocolate was such a liked topic! I got 20 comments on the one post. That is a HIGH for me.

But alas, I have HORRIBLE news!

Spring Creek (Our Market) will not have any of the Chocolate covered Coffee Beans til the middle of JULY!!!!!!

      AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH

I was horrified to hear it. I almost cried. Not to mention that they will be closed for 2 whole weeks. That is where we get most of our groceries. So we are going to have to stock up on the items we get there.

I just wanted to let everyone know the horrible news. I know that you will all sympathize with me.

WHERE WILL I GET MY CHOCOLATE FIX?????? WHERE, OH WHERE?????

And on the other bad news about this: they only had 1 bag yesterday. We usually buy 2 or 3. So we will have to only eat 1 bean a day to make sure we have enough. (Yeah right, like that is gonna happen) (HAH!!! I laugh in my own face!) The bag will be gone in a few days.

Anyway.......I hope you all are having a better Chocolate week than I am.

I want everyone to eat a lot of Chocolate for me, please! I know you all will be more than ecstatic to help me out! Right?

Just in the spirit of wanting my Coffee Beans I am putting a counter on here to count down the days til I get them!

Thanks for stopping by "Daily" at the "Planet"!

Calling all Health, Natural, and Fitness Buffs
Published on March 26, 2006 at 4:47 PM

This Article was published in Food-Health

Does anyone think that the baby that you can put on your blog is scary? It scares the something out of me. My sis put it on her blog and I went and looked the first time I saw and it scared the heck out of me.

Ok, is anyone a health and or fitness buff? I am. We eat mostly organic foods. No prepackaged anything. We mostly do natural everything. We have cut out almost all the dairy, except for a few things such as Skim milk, butter, and cheese. Did you know that they color cheese to make it yellow? Oh that is so NASTY.  I think that I am going to start trying to cut out meat from my diet, because of all the hormones that they put in the meat.

I feel so much better that we are eating a lot healthier. And I am more energetic and in better shape too. Along with doing Tae-Bo.

Anyone else do alot of health eating a natural things?
