My Reply to Alaska0Girl about LOTR, CON HP and Evil

My good friend Alycia wrote a post about Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia. I totally disagree with her. I was just going to comment, but then it got too long for a comment and I thought that I would post my beliefs about this. Now I know Alycia and she is not trying to push her beliefs on anyone. She is really trying to become what God wants and she really wants to do what is right and Biblical. So I applaud her for that. I know how hard it is to do. Here is what she said:
“I know that this post is probably going to tick a lot of people off, but I feel I have to share this.
I believe that God has shown me that Narnia and LOTR are evil. Mostly because of the magic/negative elements in them. Magic is bad. There is no good magic or a good way to use magic. Show me where in the Bible it says's do only good magic, and I will show you where it says witchcraft is evil.
Ezekiel 13:20 ....Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against your magic charms...
Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.”
Genesis 44:5 Is not this the one from which my lord drinks, and with which he indeed practices divination? You have done evil in so doing.’”
Ok, so the Lord hates magic. In any way, shape or form. If you are still not convinced that fiction books with this kind of thing are bad, think of it like this. if miracles are done by the Spirit of God. Then isn't it fair to say that magic is done by the power of Satan? Now I know that sometimes conforming to the Word is really hard and takes lot's of effort and you might be able to do things you once did, but God will give you strength to stop doing whatever it is that is unpleasing to Him.”
Alycia: Please take no offense to what I am about to say. I hope that we can still be friends when I am finished with this!! LOL!!
I would be very careful not to say “God has shown me” something. B/c then you are saying that since God showed you this, then who ever disagrees with you is not in the will of God or listening to Him.
Also check out these verses to see what they say.
Genesis 44:5 This is actually about Joseph. The servant who found his cup in Benjamin’s bag said that about Joseph. Since the Egyptians didn’t believe in God, and they used diff gods to predict their futures, they thought that Joseph’s God was just like theirs. They did not know anything about Yahweh. They thought that he used the same kind of witchcraft they did. The only reason it says, “You have done evil in so doing” is because he was telling Benjamin that it was evil to take his cup, so that he couldn’t predict the future of Egypt.
1 Samuel 15:23 If you read ALL of this verse then you will know that it is not talking about witchcraft, but rebellion, stubbornness, direct disobedience and rejecting God’s will. This is after King Saul kept the Amalekite alive and some cattle after God had specifically told him to kill EVERYONE and animals.
Ezekiel 13:20 God is talking to the false women prophets that are ensnaring His people. Not just witchcraft in general.
Acts 19:19 (I would read before this to get a feel of what is going on.) You need to go back and read why they did all of this. They didn’t just decide, “Hey let’s go burn all of our incantation books that cost millions!!” or “Let’s use our books to keep the town square warm” They were convicted of the witchcraft that they were doing and realized that they had no power. The real power was of Jesus, and they saw what happened to the man that falsely used the name of Jesus.
Deuteronomy 18:10 This is God’s call for a holy life. He is telling his people what they need to know about this. They just got out of Egypt and He knew that they were going to go to the false religions. He wanted them to know what was right and wrong.
When reading the Bible you CANNOT take it out of context. You cannot just read a part of a verse to mesh with what you are talking about. You HAVE to read all of it.
I do believe that God hates witchcraft/magic. But I do not believe that Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia are evil because of the magic they use in them.
We as a family and I personally have studied the movies, books and authors. Now if you have not read the books you cannot judge them. The movies are different than the books. The producers have changed the stories. And if you have not studied or at least looked into the authors lives or beliefs, you cannot say that they are evil for using magic in their books.
In the books there are no spells used by the Good side, only the Evil sides uses them to their advantages. You have to realize that in Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia that the “magic” they use is from good. That is not what happens in Harry Potter or Star Wars. In Harry Potter and Star Wars, both the good and evil use the SAME magic. There is no distinction between them. That is why our Littles are not allowed to watch Star Wars. They cannot tell the difference between the good side and the evil side. My Mother has watched Harry Potter, for the sole purpose of knowing what it was about, so that if anyone questioned or told her how good it was or about not letting us watching it, she would know what to say and what to believe or to contradict what they said that was untrue or ungodly. And she watched it for the same reason of which I just stated about Star Wars. But she found out that it was soo UNGODLY and evil. That she didn’t want us to watch it. We also have rented a dvd from the library entitled, “Discovering the REAL world of Harry Potter.” And we did watch that. All of the games, spells, school anything and everything that is in Harry Potter comes from actual witches practices. There is a real game like the broomsticks one they play, the spells they use are actual spells, the school they attend is actually based on a “haunted” school in England that J.K. Rowlings went to. There was a real life witch that actual did human sacrifices at the school. So this is not just out of someone’s imagination. She based this on everything that a witch does. If you watch/read Harry Potter you need to ask yourself,” Do I want that spell that Harry just cast on me??” “Do I even know what the real meaning of that spell is??” I am almost scared to watch it. Who knows what I could be opening myself to. I am not one who get scared Spiritually a lot, b/c I know what I believe and I know that I am covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ, but like Alycia said, we cannot subject ourselves to this kind of stuff. There are many Christians that watch and read Harry Potter that think it is no different than Lord of the Rings. That is soo wrong.
Let’s take a look at the authors and what they believe.
C.S. Lewis: He was a Christian. He says that he wrote the Chronicles of Narnia as an allegory to the Bible. So anything that is in it, is in the Bible.
J.R.R. Tolkien: He was a Catholic. He was best friends with Lewis and they helped each other with their works. He said that Lord of the Rings was not an allegory, so that no one could say that he used someone else’s work. Lewis influenced him. His wife was a protestant.
J.K. Rowlings: Practiced wicca as a teenager, and no doubt still does. Based Harry Potter on a boy she knew as a teenager who was a witch. Hogwarts School is based on a English school that is supposedly haunted. Has spell books that accompany Harry Potter. Uses real spells in her books.
Now do you think that Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia are evil?? I think not.
Here is a thought: In the Bible, didn’t the Pharisees and Sadducees think that Jesus was evil b/c they thought He practiced witchcraft/magic. They thought that the miracles he performed were in fact works from the Devil. So therefore the Devil uses magic and witchcraft. Now if you were writing an allegory to the Bible, you would have to use witchcraft and magic in it. That is exactly what Lewis and Tolkien have done in their books. The Simarillion (which is the shaping of Middle Earth and comes before Lord of the Rings) is just like Satan being thrown out of Heaven and the Creation.
Some people say that children should not read the Bible b/c of the adult elements, i.e. murder, s*x, adult content, etc. And since the Bible also talks about witchcraft, should we not read it?? I think not. We have to know what we are up against and that there is magic, witchcraft, evil etc that is real in life today.
I went to the Webster’s 1828 dictionary to see what the definition of witchcraft is. Witchcraft: The practice of witches, sorcery, enchantments. Intercourse with the Devil.
Now going to back to the Genesis 44:5 verse, do you think that Joseph was in cahoots with the Devil?? Well that is what the Egyptian was saying. So obviously he didn’t know what he was talking about, since I HIGHLY doubt that Joseph was. So then after I looked up witchcraft I had to look up witches. Witches: A woman or man who by compact with the Devil practices sorcery, and enchantments.
I do not think that Lewis or Tolkien were in cahoots with the Devil when they wrote these extraordinary books. They were showing us that magic is evil, it was in the Bible, and that it does exist and that whoever uses it is not Good. You need to do some research on the authors. See what they believed. I would like to recommend some books that will help you understand Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia. The way the Hollywood portrays things are not always the way they are intended to be.

Good post!!! I really like what you said about LOTR and Narnia. It's true--both are a clear battle of good and evil, and that is exactly what we should be in now. I never really thought about the whole evil and good sides using the same devices in Star Wars. I have watched Star Wars, and they are some of my favorite movies. I understand why you would not let little ones see it--they can't discern the differences between good and evil. But I do think, in Star Wars, like LOTR and Narnia, there is that element of a fight between good and evil. Grant it, it was not influenced by the author's faith like in LOTR and Narnia, yet there is an allegory to the Christian faith in it.
As for Harry Potter, I really don't know what to think on that. I know I would definately NOT let a younger or unable to discern child read/see it. From what I've read/seen (I have seen parts of the first movie) there is some element of good vs. evil, but it seems they do use the same methods. However, I do feel like there's no clear side of the line, and it's up to each person to be convicted upon his own way regarding that.
Anyway, great post, thanks for your thoughts!!!

Wife (ur, Kid) Swap Opinions Tag

I was asked the following by Jessica “Tell everyone what you would do if you were on Wife(ur, Kid)Swap! What qualities about your family would you want others to share in?” It seems that ALOT of HSBers are being asked to appear on the show. And they have respectfully declined.
We do occasionally watch the ABC show. And the homeschooling family is portrayed as wackos most of the time.
First off I would not go on the show. I would not want to put my family in that predicament where they would have to follow someone else’s rules. If I was a wife on the show: For the first week, which would be the home rules, I would follow them completely unless it went against my beliefs or was harmful to me!! For the second week, which would be my rules week, I would not enforce my beliefs on the family. I would just try to show them the GREAT aspects of what I do. If their kids were in the pss, I would not take them out and homeschool them. But I would help them with their homework and show them a way that I teach my children, so that they got an aspect of what homeschooling is. I would make dinner time a special time for the family to get together. I would help them start Creative Memories albums, so that they may safely preserve their precious photos. I would show them what a real mother and wife is.
If I was a young adult on the show: For the first week, which would be the home rules, I would follow them completely unless it went against my beliefs or was harmful to me!! For the second week, which would be my rules week, I would stay home and do my schooling. I would help out the mother any way I could. I would encourage the kids to be modest and helpful. I would show them that it is best to spend a lot of time with your family. (blood is thicker than water) I would do what I normally do at home. I would show them what a real daughter is.
Well I hope that is what you wanted Jessica!! I did what I thought would be best!! ©AmandaDixon2006

Fiction or Non-Fiction? That is the question
Published on September 13, 2006 at 8:22 AM
This Article was published in Reflections of a 16 year old girl on her way to becoming a Woman of God
|
I posted about a bad review of The New World movie made by New Line Cinema and promised a reflection out of it. So here it is!
This is fictional, 2006 version of someone’s secular view of what they thought the story of Pocahontas should be.
When we were watching it I said jokingly, " When I grow up I am going to make movies that tell the TRUE story!"
I am not really gonna do that, but I want too! It makes me SO MAD that movie makers think that they have to make their own version of a story that an author has spent his/her entire life creating only to have it rewritten by some movie maker who wants to make a lot of money off it. Yeah, they give credit to the real author, but then it doesn’t really belong to that author anyway after they mess with it.
Moviemakers- BE CREATIVE! WRITE YOUR OWN STORY and make a movie about it. Don’t steal someone else’s life work. Quit taking books and historical stories and change them to your own personal view of what happened. It already happened a specific way!
I was trying to reflect about how this could pertain to something important as I try to do with everything in my life, and I came to this conclusion: I don’t want to be a Fictional Believer. Or have a Fictional life. I don’t want to make my own version of my life story. It is already written. And if I don’t make it what the author has already written, then I am just a moviemaker making my own version of a story that the author has already taken time to write.
I want to follow God’s will. I want to be true to the story that God has already published.
Here is a verse concerning God’s Will.
Psalm 25:4-10 TruthQuest Inductive Student Bible NLT
"4 Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out to me the right path for me to follow.
5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
6 Remember, O LORD, your unfailing love and compassion, which you have shown from long ages past.
7 Forgive the rebellious sins of my youth; look instead through the eyes of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O LORD.
8 The LORD is good and does what is right; He shows the proper path to those who go astray.
9 He leads the humble in what is right, teaching them His way.
10 The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all those who keep His covenant and obey His decrees."
Proverbs 16:4 TruthQuest Inductive Student Bible NLT
"4 The LORD has made everything for His purposes, even the wicked for punishment."
I don’t want to lead a fictional life where people see me as someone when behind closed doors I am a completely different person.
I don’t know exactly the story I am supposed to be acting out. I know the only way to find this out is to obey and be in God’s will.
I am going to lead a non-fiction life from now on. I am a non-fiction Believer, who is tired of living a façade. I want to become the woman that God has created.
I am NOT a Christian. I think that word has lost its true meaning. Anyone can say they are a Christian to make themselves feel better.
I am a Biblical Believer of Christ. I am a weirdo, to most people I know, because of my beliefs. My family is shunned because of our beliefs. We have no friends.
The reason they, so called Christians that used to be our friends, shun us is because they feel guilty. They know in their spirits that we are trying to do what we know is Biblical and Godly. They hate us for being able to take control of our flesh and do what is right. They hate that we are able to stand our ground against the world and its sin nature. They feel guilty because they don’t want to let go of their fleshly worldly things they do. They feel guilty for not doing what the Bible says like we do when they are around us. When they are around us the Spirit convicts them of their sin, so it is easier to just not be around us then have to deal with the sin in their lives. That is why we are friendless.
But "what a friend we have in Jesus! All my sins and grieves to bear. Oh what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!"
Yes we, as a family, get lonely. But we have the best friend there is: JESUS!
And I have my family. Dad, Mom, Alatariel, Tigerlily, Eric, Hannah, Isaac, Caleb and baby #8!
Sometimes I wonder if it really is a good thing to live in small or medium size towns. If everyone knows everyone and you upset someone by not going to their church because its not what God wants for you, then everyone will be mad at you for upsetting the one person. And the whole town will turn against you!
Maybe it is better to live in a huge town where you know no one anyway. If you upset the one person and now no one talks to you and you have no friends anyway, then what is the difference if you are in a huge town and no one is your friend?
I am so sick of Fiction in my life and fictional characters. I want non-fiction.
That is why I am a Non-Fiction Biblical Believer of Christ and that is how I will stay.
Who are you? Fiction or Non-Fiction? Do you know? What do you want to be?

OH my gosh, that post was such a great one! You have once again made me stop and think, is my life fiction or non-fiction. I agree that it is so hard to find a church where they teach the Bible. I don't know how many churches i have been to where the preacher preaches about his weekend or some such nonsense. Ok, I could go on and on about this so I think I will stop about now. Great post, keep seeking God!

Water through a Sieve??
Published on August 30, 2006 at 9:55 AM
This Article was published in Reflections of a 16 year old girl on her way to becoming a Woman of God
|
Lately it seems when I get up in the morning to start a new day that in a very short period of time I am laying back down because the day is over. I guess when you get older time goes faster.
It got me thinking about managing my time better. And it has been brought to my attention that if the Holy Spirit is a master of managing time. If the Holy Spirit is in control of my day and I am in the Will of God, then it seems I have longer, more productive, peaceful, loving attitude to everyone around me kind of day.
But if I am not in the Will of God and the Holy Spirit is not in control of my day, then my day seems very short, I get up late, I feel like I did nothing all day, I am mean, grouchy, kind of day. And I HATE those days. I feel like I am a bum and have nothing better to do with my life than lay around doing nothing. I feel like my priorities went out the window and I feel useless because I did nothing all day. I don’t want to push to getting things done, because I can do it another day when I don’t feel like a total lazy.
And that got me thinking about strength, stamina, pushing to accomplish goals, priorities and etc. Here is a short story to kinda show you what I am talking about.
On Monday I got on the treadmill for 25min. 10min. walking, 5min. running, and another 10mi. walking to cool down. As I was running there was point at about 3min. when I was about ready to quit, but I couldn't. I can't really explain what the feeling was, but I knew I couldn't stop. I physically wanted to soo bad, but mentally I couldn't tell my legs to get off. I just pushed myself I didn't think about the fatigue that was in my legs I just thought about something else. Which reminded me of
Philippians 3:14
"I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven."
Anyway back to the story....I knew that I had to run the 5min. without stopping. I knew if I stopped that I would not get back on and finish.
Which made me think of Smallville. Clark is doing something, but him having his powers could be harmful, and he tells his dad that he is just going to quit. I think it is when he plays football?? Anyway Jonathan tells him, "Son, don’t start quitting now because it is a very hard habit to break." How true that is. Once you quit at something you are more than likely to quit at something else. Then things in your life start to never get accomplished, i.e. priorities.
So I ran my 5min. without stopping. It seemed like the longest 5min. ever.
As I was telling Mom this, she said to me, "You have so much stamina. I have never had that. If I had then I would have been able to accomplish so much when I was your age and now. You always push to do what you need to."
Now hearing that was great, but then I thought about the word, stamina. What does it really mean? I got out our Webster’s 1828 Dictionary and looked it up. Now the word and spelling is diff from now. It was spelled, "Stamen" But it said,
"In a general sense, the fixed, firm, part of a body, which supports it or gives it strength and solidity. Whatever constitutes the principal strength or support of anything; as the stamina of a constitution or of life: the stamina of a state."
This brought me to the verse that says "where does my strength come from? It comes from the Lord." But I couldn’t find the reference and Mom wasn’t sure it was actually a verse. But I found this one
Psalm 18:2
"The Lord is my rock and fortress and deliverance. My God, my strength in Whom I will trust."
Stamina is strength. God gives me and is my strength, then God is my stamina. So when I use my stamina then I am using God to help me accomplish all my priorities.
It’s like God is my fuel to run this race, so He is pushing me to do the best I can.
Now I know that if I am in the Spirit I can accomplish my priorities even beyond my own strength, power, and mean.
So if I have the stamina to push myself to run 5min. then I had better use that same stamina to accomplish the priorities and responsibilities that God has given to me. And since God sets my priorities and He gives me time and strength to do it, then I know I can, and I must. I can only do it the way He wants me too if I am in His will though and it is very easy to get out of it.
When I get out of that will and am doing my own thing after awhile I always have to back to God’s Will for my life and I have to reorganize my priorities. I have to come back to the same place I was before and start over only to go about an inch and then start over because I fell off the path.
This is my new self assignment: Reorganize my priorities, accomplish them with the strength and stamina He gives so that I don’t have to keep wasting my time going back.
So I am going to start making up schedules for what I want my days to be and what I want to accomplish. And have God help figure out what He wants my days and priorities to be instead of what I want them to be.
I hope this encourages you to do the same if you feel like your days are "water through a sieve".

Ah, wow. This was something I was recently convicted of, managing my time. Good thoughts. :D It's so hard time to keep pressing on...(espeically on the treadmill, they are awful things with a good purpose!)...but it feels good, and better yet, it's pleasing to God.
Have my tag answers up!

-And again, I am stunned. Not stunned that you think deeply, just stunned by the depth of your depth! - That you think SO deeply.
You are blessed to know that you must bring your thoughts under the authority of Christ. Keep bringing them to His light so that you may truly learn His will and walk therein!
Love you...
Mom
**Keep at it, girl... you are on His serious path. Amen.
He is pleased with you.**

What you say is so true. Often we just let our day slip by because we don't discipline ourselves and make priorities. You were talking about the verse that says " From whence cometh my help? My help comes from the Lord." Well, I am at the office right now and don't have a Bible with me but I think that verse is in Psalm 121 or maybe 21. It is in the Psalm that says " I lýft up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help? My help comes from the Lord." I just thought I would let you know that there is such a verse. Encouraging post!
With you on the Quest,
Frodo

I am wondering if maybe this verse might be the one. (0:
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from ?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip-
he who watches over you will not slumber not sleep.
indeed , he who watches oner you -
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm-
he will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Well if not it is a Good one to remember, God Bless

“That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
Published on August 26, 2006 at 9:53 AM
This Article was published in Reflections of a 16 year old girl on her way to becoming a Woman of God
"That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” -Shakespeare.
But by any other name would it feel as soft?
As I was weeding Mr. Schenck’s flower bed a couple weels ago, and pricking my fingers on his roses. I thought, “Why do roses have thorns?”
Why does a beautiful flower have a painful and ugly thing on it?
Then I realized: A rose is like a Believer.
It is a beautiful thing to become a Believer of Christ. You have a hope in life, a goal, a chance to grow to be a better person. And then after awhile, just like a rose, you grow thorns. They aren’t there in the beginning. As you mature the thorns come.
Some of the thorns in a Believer’s life could be:
Forgetting to put God first.
Praying frequently.
Seeing and hearing unwholesome things.
Not using the resources God has privileged you with wisely.
Gossiping.
Not being the same person in front of people that you are in front of Him.
Doing things that put you in the spotlight and Him in the shadows.
Now these thorns are painful to you and Jesus. How can He tend to you and help you grow if He has to keep getting the thorns out of His fingers?
Now sometimes the thorns are used for a different reason.
They could be:
Putting God first.
Praying.
Keeping from seeing and hearing unwholesome things.
Being constructive with what resources God has given to you.
Praying for friends and their problems.
Encouraging friends and family.
Having the full armor on.
Putting Jesus in the spotlight of your life.
These thorns can be used to ward off the attacks of the enemy, just like the roses thorns ward of insects trying to attack its health.
Jesus is a gardener. He first tills up the hardness of our hearts, then very carefully He cultivates it so that seeds can be planted and sprout. Not all seeds that you plant are going to be fruitful, but some will. And the ones that do, He will water and tend til they become a flourishing plant. But gardens and rosebushes need tending to.
The weeds need to be pulled so that the roots can grow deep in the soil, just like us, we need to be deep in the Word of God. When He pulls the weeds some of the dirt that is protecting the roots will be uncovered. The roots will be revealed. It will show how much the plant is growing. Having the covering of you pulled off is very painful. It shows that you need work done.
And the pruning is painful too. He has to cut away everything that is dead or is making you die. The dead, decaying parts that you keeping you from growing to be a mature plant.
So to become the man or woman of God, you have to be tended by: Weeding and pruning.
These are painful procedures, but they have to be done.
The weeding reveals what needs to change and the pruning cuts it off to let you grow.
Jesus is more than willing to do these things, but you have to be able to give Him control. He will not take it away from you and tell you what He is doing.
I know personally I hate correction. You can ask my MOM about that.
I hate being told what to do. When I do something that needs correction I get soo angry with the person who is giving the correction. I hate having to be told what I need to do to change it.
And when my MOM is showing me what needs to be done in my life, I get soo mad at her for correcting me. But in hindsight I am thankful that she will take the time to correct a 16, almost 17 year old who should know what to do and not give her a sucky attitude about her correction, but does anyway.
She see past the attitude I have and sees what she knows I truly want to be or do in that situation.
Jesus wants to help you grow in Him. Let Him do what needs to be done in your life. It may be painful, but He did not promise us a life without pain when we became a Believer. Remember: He had a crown of thorns on His head to bear for your sins.
We are like roses. You have thorns. You can either have Jesus, your Savior, prick His fingers, or you can have the enemy prick his.
It’s your decision.
RememberJohn 13:15
“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

Siblings, Anger, Forgiveness, and Love

We went to see my Great Grandparents last week so that Alatariel could get some info on the photos that she didn’t know about.
We found out that my Grandma’s sister, Lillian, had died early that morning. She was my Grandma’s older sister right before her. All of the siblings died in the order of birth. So my Grandma is the only one in her family that is still alive.
My Grandma did not have a very good relationship with her sister. I guess my Aunt Lillian was a person to get under people’s skin. I was told that she would give keepsakes and if the receiver didn’t like the advice she gave they were told to give them back. Or she would tell someone something, like they could come stay at her house for awhile and then when they got there something would happen and she would be like, “What makes you think that you can barge in here without giving notice” and stuff like that. She was a person who spoke her mind no matter what she said even if she hurt someone.
Something happened in like the 80’s with them and they hadn't spoken for awhile. So I asked my Grandma if she had been to see her and if everything was amended. She didn’t really answer. The only thing she said was, “I went to see her a couple weeks ago.” The reason she went to see her was Grandma was in the hospital the same time Aunt Lillian was, so Grandma stopped by there when we was there. But I don’t think she forgave her for the offense Aunt Lillian made to her.
And as I sat there all I could think was “How could that be the kind of relationship you have with a sibling?” “How could you let something like that be the end of your relationship?” And then you know she is gone. And my Grandma was not in the slightest bit upset that she died, at least she didn’t act like it. She was telling us all about the mean things that Aunt Lillian did that my Grandpa had to tell her to stop. He said, “The woman just died. Stop talking like that about her.”
It just tore me apart to see that this was the type of relationship that she had with her sister. I can’t imagine being like that with any of my siblings. I mean yeah sometimes I just wish they would all leave me alone, but I can’t see something like that.
I am so thankful that I have a really GREAT relationship with Alatariel. We do EVERYTHING together. And I can’t ever see us like that.
I guess what I’m saying is if your sibling/s and you had a huge fight and you hadn’t spoken in a long time and that sibling died tomorrow would you care? Would you be upset that you hadn’t forgiven each other?
I am thankful that I have my siblings. And I pray that nothing will come up that will tear us apart and have there be so much animosity between us.
I have learned that I need to make sure that if I have a problem with someone I need to go to that person and get the truth.
Having a friend is more important than being right and holding my right to be right!
This verse will defiantly encourage you in your walk if you are having this problem.
“And don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a mighty foothold to the Devil.”
Ephesians 4:26-27 (TruthQuest Inductive Student Bible.)
You have to let go of your anger, or it will consume you and you will be a very unhappy person.
I have been reading King Arthur and His Knights by a Mr. Gilbert. It is an older book so it is prob true.
Anyway, the story that I am at now is where Sir Gawaine is so mad at Sir Lancelot that he wants to kill him. The reason for this is because Sir Lancelot killed his 2 brothers in battle. Sir Lancelot was trying to save the Queen from burning at the stake. And in is rage of saving her he killed anyone in his way. Now Sir Gawaine’s brother were taking the Queen to the stake. But they didn’t want too; they were only carrying out the orders of the King. So Sir Lancelot killed them on accident and because of the situation that the Queen was being burned for, Sir Gawaine did not believe him. Although the youngest brother that was killed was very much loved by Sir Lancelot.
I haven’t finished the story yet to see who kills whom, but they were as close as brothers and just because some evil knight spread untrue things about Sir Lancelot, Sir Gawaine vowed that he would not rest until he kills Lancelot or Lancelot kills him. But Lancelot doesn't want to fight him. And he avoids fighting him at all costs, but in the end they end up doing battle.
I would recommend this book to read it has wonderful stories about chivalry, maidens, knights, loyalty, love, charity, (which are not the same thing) and other such wonderful things!
It is a great book. I like these kinds of things so I guess it depends on what kind of books you like.
God’s laws are like His law of gravity—It can’t be changed!
He says to forgive, to love unconditionally, etc.
“Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32 (TruthQuest Inductive Student Bible.)
You can’t just not forgive because someone wronged you. Remember you wronged Jesus first with the worst wronging there is possible, and He still forgave you.
You can’t just not love someone because they don’t love you back. Remember not everyone loved Jesus when He was here, but He still loved them.
Remember to always:
LOVE
FORGIVE

I can't imagine having a relationship--or rather lack of one-like that with my siblings. But so many people do...it's sad...why can't people just let go sometimes??
Thanks for your words. I hope you inspired some of us to make the most of our time with our sibs (and everyone!)

Hey, its me again!
Thanks for commenting. I know exactly what you mean re people not caring with their relationships. It's so sad with old friends, and then "out of sight, out of mind." It's horrible especially when people just won't stay in touch, or because you have (like you said) change churches or something and those people won't even acknowledge you. It makes me so mad sometimes...but I agree, the online community is wonderful--cause no matter where you go, you can always take them with you!
But yes, I could go on the topic forever, but I will spare you. :D

I love that you check up on me! I am really glad you enjoy my humor. I tend to be a really political person...but I try to keep my blog a little lighter. Coming this September it will be a little more serious...some really political humor and hopefully pictures all dealing with September 11. My husband is in the Navy and will be stationed in South Korea for the next year...also, I grew up in New Jersey just this side of the George Washington bridge....so September 11 has a lot of importance to me...I really think we play it down too much and should never forget. By the way, World Trade Center is a SUPER movie. Check with your mom...but it is a joyful, hopeful movie (no politics).
Keep checking back at my blog...I will try and keep the humor flowing! icart
