For Today...

Outside my window...grey, "wanting-to-snow" skies; another 1/2" of snow on the ground. It's beginning to look alot like CHRISTmas.

I am thinking...that I can't believe CHRISTmas is almost here. I'm hoping the strains my mom has put on our family won't 'show' so much when we all get together.

I am thankful for...my wonderful husband who takes such good care of us, even when we have so little.

From the kitchen...lazagna & salad.

I am wearing...burgandy leggings & sweat shirt - it's COLD!

I am remembering…wonderful CHRISTmases past.

I am going…to take DD#2 to work.

I am reading..."Lies Women Believe"

I am hoping...for the peace of God to settle over my mom & brother so that they will stop causing so much strife.

On my mind…the passing of time.

I am creating...a peaceful home. Great memories for our little family.

I am hearing...the radio, DD#2 getting ready for work.

Noticing that…my attitude effects the attitudes of my whole family. If I greet them every mornig w/a smile, it goes a long way.

Pondering these words…"In as much as it depends on you, live in peace w/all men."

Around the house...CHRISTmas baking!

One of my favorite things...CHRISTmas baking! lol

A Scripture thought..."And Mary pondered all these things in her heart." ~Luke 2

A few plans for the rest of the week...last minute CHRISTmas 'doings', baking, DD#1 will be home for OUR family's little CHRISTmas doings on CHRISTmas Eve day, DH & I will be singing the special music at our CHRISTmas Eve service (!), CHRISTmas w/our extended families; tonight will the Alumni game w/the Miami Valley Saints - our awesome homeschool basketball team!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

A few favorites from our tree.

Candy Foote's "The Word Of God On..." e-books series

I recently was offered the chance to review some of Candy Foote's e-books.  I chose two e-books from her selection of  "The Word Of God On ..." e-books.   The two that interested me most were "The Word Of God On The Words Of Your Mouth" and "The Word Of God On Being A Woman, A Wife, And A Mother."  Each of these e-books is a compilation of Scripture on its chosen topic, sold for $14.99 at CandyFoote.com .

There have been times in my life when I have done what Candy Foote has done in these e-books.  I have used my concordance to look up all the Scriptures on a topic that was heavy on my heart at the time. I wanted to know what God had to say on the topic, so I searched it out.  Some of those times, I underlined a few verses, but failed to make a list of them all.  On a few subjects, I recorded the verse addresses on a list in my journal ... but not the entire Scripture segments.

Candy has done that work for us and compiled it all into handy e-books that allow you to print them and read them whenever you want to.  Not only would these be helpful for your personal Bible study, they can be assigned to older children and teens for Bible Study, copywork, or memorization of passages.

The Word of God on Being a Woman, A Wife, and a Mother -- $14.99
This e-book is available in the King James Version, as well as New International Version.  I selected the NIV version.  This subject is one that is important to me.  Candy has included not only instructive verses on being a woman, wife, and mother ... but also Scripture re-telling the stories of other women in the Bible.

The e-book is 101 pages long, with 94 pages being the actual Scripture compilations.  From Genesis to Revelation, it's God's Word on being a woman, just as the title states.  Organized in the order they are taken from the Scripture, it's easy to locate stories of Deborah, or verses from Proverbs.

The e-book is neat, easily readable, and includes all of God's Word on being a woman, wife, and mother.  It is easily downloaded as a PDF document, which can be read with Adobe Acrobat.

The Word of God on The Words Of Your Mouth -- $14.99
Available only in King James Version, this large e-book includes all God has to say on the words we speak.  Once again organized from Genesis to Revelation, it also includes narrative Scripture and instructive Scripture.  The 133 page e-book includes 128 pages of actual Scripture compilations.

This e-book is also well-organized, neat, and easily readable.  It is ready for your personal Bible study, or to use in your homeschool.  This e-book makes it easy to find Scripture on our words to assign for copywork or memorization by our children.

Also downloaded as a PDF document, this can be read in Adobe Acrobat.

To purchase these e-books, and more, visit CandyFoote.com.

These e-books were provided to me free, in exchange for my honest review.

From the Heart:

Plans best laid still can go to the wayside if you are blonde and seem to get blonder as you get greyer.  I had planned on getting four days of school done this week.  Instead we got two done:  Monday and Tuesday.  Wednesday we had 8 appointments scheduled back to back for the kids to have well-child checks and dental checks, then I was going to the eye doctor.  On Tuesday, the dental office called and said my insurance wouldn't cover it unless I rescheduled for next week.  I went to do the other appointments and drove an hour into town to find out I was a day early for the well-child checks.  Not funny.  We did a bunch of errands and I got my eye exam done.   We still didn't get home until close to 5:30.  Then we had to turn around and do it again on Thursday so we could do the well-child checks.  Blah!  Friday our week was blown anyway, so I decided to go ahead and use it for house cleaning and preparing for the staff Christmas party.  Life happens.  Next week we probably won't get more than two days in either...

Dh and I sitting with some of our coworkers/friends at the staff Christmas party on Friday night.

In the School Room:

Since school was five days ago, I really can't remember too much off the top of my tired head about what happened in the two days...sorry.  It is in my schedule, but I'm too delirious to get off of this chair and look it up.

Our fearless leaders dressed up silly to host the evening.  She does not appreciate this picture, but since I copied it from my friends' page on Facebook, I guess it is already out there!

One thing we learned about this week was Hanukkah.  We didn't plan to make a menorah ahead of time, so unfortunately we didn't have one.  We found a lot of books to read about the holiday, and I found it to be really meaningful.  I especially liked reading the Messianic significance of it from Robin Sampson's book, A Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays.

Our good friends, Jessie and Yvonne at the Christmas party.  Below their son Micah in a dragon costume after we shared a meal together on Wednesday evening.

On the Mission Field:

Still praying a lot for vision and calling as to what to do next.  From there we will work on raising our support to meet our needs and do as He calls us to do.

In the Literary Scene:

Now I'm reading the fourth and final book of the Galway Chronicles by Brock and Bodie Thoene.  These books are great for cold winter nights, but dangerous to pick up during the day when I have children to take care of and who need my attention!

Feeding on His Faithfulness,

Carol

I've been to the year 2009. Not much has changed, but they lived underwater...

Well, the year 2009 is almost up. For me, 2009 was full of fun times and many lessons, and I thought that I would share the highlights of my year with you all:

January 1st: I wrote a letter to myself about areas that I wanted to grow in over the year. These included learning to better share my faith, learning to build new relationships (as opposed to staying with my comfortable old ones), and learning if songwriting was something that God wanted me to pursue.

     January 28th: I finished my Driver’s Education!

     February 28th:
I conquered my fears on a FIFTY-FOOT swing!!!
I also wrote two songs, one about trusting God enough to let go of your comfort zone (entitled “Free-Fall”), and one about how we as Christians are called to be lights in this dark world (entitled “Meant To Be (A Light)”).

     March 28th-April 5th:
I went back to Orofino, Idaho
on my Youth Group’s second Mission Trip there. In addition to having a great week full of service projects, Bible Studies, and sharing God’s love with people, God taught me a lot. He showed me some sin that I needed to get rid of, and He began to show me a big part of my spiritual gifting (but I didn’t realize it at the time. I’ll talk more about this later).

     May 15th: I got my Driver's License!!!!!!!!! :-D

June 16th(ish): I finished my first year going to a community college!

Summer: Over the whole summer I was busy working as a Junior Intern at my Youth Group’s Whitewater Rafting Camps. I had a blast the whole time, rafting, hanging out on the beach, doing Bible Studies, working my tail-end off, sleeping under the stars, etc. God used these weeks to teach me many important things:
what True Humility looks like, that all self-love is sin, that I had an idol I needed to get rid of, and that a big part of my spiritual gifting is to listen. God showed me that I don’t always need to talk (even when I really want to), that sometimes people just need someone to listen and empathize with them, and He showed me that I’m meant to do that.

August 26th: I changed my blogging strategy (although it didn’t seem to help me blog more, it did help me to straighten out things in my mind and to encourage other people more).

September 21st: School started back up, (yippie!) (that was half-sarcasm, half-true).

October 3rd: I officially became an “adult”!!

November 5th-8th: The Youth Group from Orofino turned the tables and came here for service projects! I had a WHOLE lot of fun seeing them all again, as well as getting to serve in my own community alongside them!

December 17th-18th: Mini-Retreat for those in Bible Read-Thru. I got to get to know two of my friends a lot better and Rob (our Youth Leader) led us all in two great “rap sessions” (kinda like Bible Studies, only focusing more on a question that one of us had).

December 20th: I looked back on my fun year and now I feel almost sad to see it leaving me, but I also feel really excited about this next year approaching me! Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year, everybody!!!!! :-D

The guilty party: My three years old.

The Crime:  She had gotten into her big sisters purse, took out her camera and then proceeded to take over one hundred pictures.

The proof was on the camera. Guilty!

Big sisters purse

Camera case

Her feet. Did I mention that she turned three in August of '09?

Her horse

Another horse

The punishment: I blog about it so in years to come I can show her future husband. Bwa ha ha ha ha!

Oh, and she did take pictures of her own hand, but it was too blurry to share.

Well, first thing's first! I'M A BIG SISTER... AGAIN! My baby sister was born this week, bringing sleepless nights, joyful moments, and priceless memories with her! We're all in love with her already. She will be referred to as "Butterfly" here on my blog: a name the family seemed to agree on.

Now, to other business!

Our last look at the issue of ANGER:

        “Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.” Psalm 37:8

We’re to cease in our anger and forsake wrath. Cease. Forsake. Those don’t sound like “sometimes” or “maybe” or “think about it” words. They sound determined and final. We're not supposed to flirt with anger... though we do constantly. Or maybe we've gone beyond that: perhaps we've made anger our companion! (Hmm, that doesn't sound promising, does it?)

So, we're supposed to separate ourselves from evil, eh? Can we do this on our own? Nope. Sin is very strong… but so is God. Actually, in case you didn't know, God is MUCH, MUCH stronger than any sin. If we plead for His help, then He will give it to us. It says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."

What that means is that you will never be in a situation where you are unable to do the right thing. You’re always able to choose, and God is always there to give you the strength to bear any problem. Your brother or sister is never being SO mean that you can’t react in a loving, forgiving way (Wow, isn't that a place of conviction for me!) This is something we’re commanded to do. We HAVE to do this! We have to put away anger and bitterness and malice. We must pray for God’s power and love in us to give us the ability to act the way He would. We are more than conquerors in Christ. We CAN choose righteousness. And our God IS strong enough to make us the victors in our battles against anger and sin.

God bless!

WarriorMaiden
