I should record that we did do some homeschooling today. (I mean yesterday. It's five-past-midnight.)
We had our Circle Time. We sang Amazing Grace; Lord, Be Glorified; and Waltzing Matilda (our folk song). Those new guitar strings I purchased at the beginning of the year were a good investment! We read chapters from Genesis and Matthew. Then the girls did their drills: CalcuLadder, Daily Grams (Chicken), ReadyWriter (Bug), and handwriting practice. Chicken did 15 minutes of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing on the computer.
I'm frustrated that we've had so much running around to do. We get a late start every day, and if there's an appointment it just blows homeschooling out of the water. (Not to mention housekeeping.) With six kids and me, plus errands to do for dad, there's always an appointment every week. A morning appointment means no homeschooling gets done. An afternoon appt. means only the "basics" get done. Today, I had to go to the health dept., and I had to mail off a bunch of resumes for DH, and I had to deposit the check, and the only way to do that is to take everyone with me. Sigh. The grocery store probably could have waited, but not the bookstore...DH needed more resume & printer paper. At least the bookstore has a play area set up for kids.
I have my six-week checkup coming up this week and to tell the truth, I wish I could skip it. First, I do not have a regular babysitter to call on, nor the extra cash lying around to pay one. Second, I am so sick of running around. I just want to stay at home and homeschool! I need to get back on track and all these appointments are messing me up! It's purely a routine check-up, anyway; I'm perfectly healthy & always have been. I'm recovering just fine. Not that they'll buy that. :) Well, I should be grateful for good medical care.
After my checkup, I think I have a clear week the following week. Maybe we can really hone in and get some stuff done.
Tomorrow is our history co-op, which is homeschooling, and fun, but we won't get any regular stuff in, except maybe Buster's reading lesson. I'm beginning to think getting up at 4 a.m. is the only way to get anything done. |
