I'm ready to begin Day 2 of Operation Crisis Clean. Day 1 didn't end with much to show for it, because of course the kitchen gets used a lot. But it *was* clean, really it was! And I got a lot of laundry through, even with a sickly dryer.
Today is bathrooms, floors and more laundry. I can just pile homeless junk into a basket for now and have the kids put away. Maybe, just maybe, I can talk DH into steam cleaning carpets for me tonight.
Of course, today is also the day to remember all who died four years ago in horrific terrorist attacks. Michelle Malkin has a sobering post up called Never, Never Forget.
Where were you on that day?
I was in the next city at an O.B. appointment. Suddenly, I noticed someone in uniform running along the street. I was struck by the sight. When I got back to the church that was watching my children (a Mother's Day Out program), another mother breathlessly told me the twin towers had been attacked, without much more explanation. I couldn't tell what she was talking about; twin towers? The world trade towers were nowhere near my mind at the moment.
But when I finally realized the full enormity of it, I thought it was surely the beginning of World War III. Why else would someone attack the U.S. unless they wanted to start WWIII? I remember the sickening feeling of uncertainty...of, "The world's about to change forever." And it surely did.
God bless our troops, our first responders, and most especially the families who were torn apart by that day. |
