Susie-Q&A

• Feb. 4, 2007 - A Good Kinda Tired

Yesterday, I attempted an Emergency Quick Clean.  Had I been following my housework plan, the house wouldn't have needed it so badly.  I confess I fell down a little on this plan this week, so it was time to dig out.  Now all the bathrooms are back to non-gag status.

The EQC took all afternoon and then some, with the usual interruptions, and I fell into bed pretty tired last night.  DH took the children out to the game store at one point, so I really hustled during that little interlude and got a lot of mopping done.  Pudge followed me all around the house and seemed pretty frustrated that mom couldn't make up her mind whether she wanted to be upstairs or downstairs.  He's a whiz at going up and down now.

Today we went to church.  :)  *Our* church.  Yep, we have a church home now.  I am very happy.  I've been missing GCF very badly and needed a church family to fill the void.   It's an Assembly of God church, so we're going back to our roots.  I attended a large A.G. church as a child, during which period I accepted Christ, and DH was mentored by an A.G. pastor right after he was saved.  Church going for both of us has been pretty ecumenical since then.   Speaking for myself:  Interdenominational, Southern Baptist, Presbyterian (PCA, EPC), Pentecostal Holiness, Vineyard, etc. with a sprinkling of Catholic and Episcopal.

I'm glad I can still spy in on a few of my GCF friends via their blogs from time to time.

Superbowl Sunday...and we would be blissfully ignorant of the fact if AWANA had not been early today to accomodate viewing schedules.  We don't "do" football.  I had a couple of mild college football fans in my family, but I didn't inherit the gene, and the only sport my husband watches on a regular basis is motocross.  Other than a couple of Supercross events and a meeting with fellow riders out west, DH has never disappeared or zoned out on sports weekends.  I am very grateful not to be a sports widow.

I read these short stories yesterday (during a little break in housecleaning) after seeing the author mentioned on JenIg's blog.  Cautionary tales for the unsubmissive wife!  :)  Speaking of Victorian era literature, I've been reading some Elsie Dinsmore books as well, and I'm just not as enthusiastic about those as I was about Little Britches.  The slavery issue really sticks in my craw, juxtaposed to Christianity the way it is.  One would think that a Christian young lady would at least learn to dress herself at some point before the age of 18.  And Elsie indulges in far too much weeping, in my opinion.  Then there's the whole "remember the Sabbath day" issue, and what that entails (disobedience to parent, in her case).
I probably won't read them aloud to the girls, but it's been interesting to read them myself.

Time to read right now, as a matter of fact!  We've made a good dent in Little House in the Prairie, so I allowed them to watch part of the Disney miniseries for their Friday night movie.  My mother very kindly taped them for us when they aired.  Off to read...

You want to know what I do sometimes??? This is a confession. I put the children in the van 5 minutes earlier than I need to leave and then I run back in and clean up the kitchen really quickly:):):). I can get so much done so quickly when there is no one to interrupt me. There you have it. Don't report me to dfacs.

Thanks for the sympathy. I made it through the night with nobody waking up so I'm ready for tonight. Evan still has a fever I hope it's not the flu.
