Birthday party today. Much work, much celebration. House looks...well, like a party took place here. Photoblogging to follow in the near future.
Meanwhile, La Shawn Barber pretty much sums up my feeling about the Harriet Miers flap. I'm not comfortable with some of the things I'm hearing about her. Hope it's mostly hearsay. Otherwise, hard to drum up much interest, other than watching the debate from afar between Hugh Hewitt and the folks at The Corner, with amazement that people (esp. their readers) can manage to be so strongly opinionated about it one way or the other. And I'm usually a junkie where these things are concerned. I know it's important, it has "repercussions"... guess I'm just tired. JPod seems to think she's not gonna sail through...although he's always rather pessimistic, isn't he? That's my impression.
The worst was logging on and immediately learning that, on my child's second birthday, yet another occasion for human grief and suffering has occured in Asia. It's hard to take in: 18,000 souls and counting. Sometimes it's unfathomable. Yet God takes it all in at a glance. How he can bear to see what we have wrought, I don't know. How all the suffering through all the ages...suffering in which he himself has partaken, in fact...a world that is itself "groaning" and waiting for redemption.... There must be a very great love indeed, to overcome it all. "Grace that is greater than all my sin." Very tired...can't really express myself well tonight. I'd far rather trust in that rock-solid lovingkindness than make my way through it myself, that's all.
Signing off to get some sleep before I have to hustle myself and six children to church. Hope this Sunday goes better than last. Stay tuned for birthday pix. |
