Susie-Q&A

• Nov. 28, 2005 - The Dreaded Green Crate! Auuugghh!

Okay, so I did work on it yesterday.  I didn't get all the way through with it, as expected.  But I did create a "burn pile" (our shredder keeps jamming and it would take forever to shred this stuff a page at a time, so DH will burn it for me).  And I threw away a garbage bag full.  And I started re-arranging our file drawers.  I dumped a lot of the stuff and the rest I re-labeled.

Meanwhile, my counter is still covered with papers.  I must remember to get a box from work tomorrow for the long-term stuff I need to store.

Speaking of work, my co-worker and desk-sharer broke her leg!  Or ankle, more properly.  She was visiting a relative down in south GA over the holiday and is stuck in a hospital down there for now.  They did surgery on it this morning.  Please pray for her if you get a minute.  I really missed having her there today.

After work, I had to run an errand at the doctor's office and stopped by the grocery store for more milk and fruit and what-not.

Another O.B. appointment tomorrow.  I think I may go into work at 8 a.m. and leave work for the appointment, if DH okays it and will homeschool for me.  I'll get a few extra hours in and they might need me with my co-secretary out for a little while.

We did homeschool this morning.  We did our

Calculadder drills (Chicken and Bug),

Daily Gram (Chicken) and ReadyWriter (Bug) practice,

Handwriting practice (Chicken and Bug),

Mental Math strategies--doubles (Chicken and Bug)

Reader (Bug),

Spelling Power (Chicken),

Language lessons (Chicken and Bug),

Addition practice using Learning Wrap-Up Keys (Bug), and

Times Tales--division review and test (Chicken)

Division was harder for Chicken to remember than multiplication, but she still did very well on the practice test!  I'm totally impressed with Times Tales.

So, that's the scoop on my day.  I did have the house nice and neat, but the children have been working hard to un-do it.  I'll have to set them to picking up toys in a few minutes.

Later!

I cleaned the utility room out this weekend and found paperwork from 1987! We laughed and Dear Husband set to shredding. It was actually quite amusing to see you were participating in the same fun! Where does it all come from?

My desk looks very similar to that. I have a pile on the end waiting to be sorted. I just found out today, though, that about a third of that pile can go ahead and be filed. PTL! Maybe I'll get around to it when I'm not homeschooling, grocery shopping, taking m-i-l to doctor or hair appointments, kids to PE and doctor appointments, working in the garden, cleaning house, and the list goes on... You've motivated me, though, as I hope to get some of that done very soon. Miss you!
