Susie-Q&A

• May. 23, 2008 - Tired, but a Good Tired

I worked all day today, and didn't get the house much further at all.  Still, it was a day full of grace notes for which to be thankful.

I went to CVS and got $40 worth of stuff for $17, not to mention earning $14 and change in ECBs.  Perhaps I have not yet attained the highest rank among CVS-Super-Shoppers, but that is nothing to sneeze at.

Food Lion, which is located right behind the CVS, still had their unadvertised special going on their store brand cereal...$1 a box!   I loaded up.

It was sunny and breezy today, a perfect 72 degrees, and a perfect day for hanging the laundry on the line, one of the most pleasurable activities known to a homemaker.

I'm listening to my FineTune player, and the player shuffled two Libera tunes back to back!

Fuzzy is learning to scoot around on his belly.  He's going to be crawling before we know it.  Sniff.

We had bruschetta on French bread for the first time tonight.  It was yummy.  I got the bruschetta super-cheap through the food co-op.  The French bread was 2 for $2 at Food Lion.  It made for a cheap meal; we just ate it for supper, since my ham bone wouldn't fit in the soup pot and all the water boiled off my beans.  Oh well!

I'm glad the cool weather is lasting this late into the season, since we don't have A/C at this house.  We're going to try to make it through the summer without caving and buying a window unit, since we just bought a tractor.

That's right, DH bought a John Deere.  Did I mention that?  Maybe I did.  We bought it from another homeschooling family.  It's in tip-top shape.  He's going to make it do for digging the pond at the bottom of the property.  Right now, he's researching the soil type we have here thanks to info from the extension office.

Hubby put the boys' bunk bed together today!   Makes their room much easer to navigate and clean up.

I thinned one row of radishes but couldn't get to the next one as per Fuzzy's demands.  The sunflowers are popping up, as are the watermelon plants.  The tomato plants are in the raised bed, and I think I saw a few marigold seedlings coming up.  I also planted herbs among the tomatoes.  We'll see how it all does.  I'm a complete novice.

It's very late, and I still hear talking and activity coming from the kids' rooms.  Off to hush everyone....

Heehee Michael bought a tractor about a month ago too. We are using it for other things for a few years until all the kids can swim and then he is using it to dig a pond in our backyard too. :)
